Year after year of garbage defense. I don't give a **** what the stats say, t hg e D gives up soft plays like their lives depend on it. Seattle's OL is trash, yet against us they look all pro. Dallas would destroy us.

At least we have a better defence now that we traded or best defensive player

Blount on fire.If our D now can get their heads out of their asses and push on it would make life easier

What is going on with the secondary? Seattle's WRs just waltzing through while our players run about like headless chickens.

Ahhhh, for **** sake. Can we ever stop a 3rd down and long? Automatic conversion for the offense at this point. What the **** is Patricia at with this bull**** coverage?

    Loss:

    - No pressure
    - Piss Poor secondary
    - Conservative play calling
    - Seattle had our number

****ing McDaniel'd again. Your 250lb RB had 3 TDs already? Better try a QB sneak and weak corner fade. **** this bull**** coaching. We won't win **** this year with the that effort.

One thing that was evident we 100% missed Collins out there.

While Bill is certain to get heat for the Collins trade this week, and he may of helped, the thing is we didn't have a quality D even with Collins. First time we've played a playoff QB, and we concede 31pts.
We'll make the playoffs, but when we play a true contender, I don't expect our D to bail us out unless the offense hits close to 30pts.

Any team with a good running game will annihilate what passes for a D. We are awful as have been all year. Stats about pts conceded are a total smoke screen

Ah to be fair, the QB sneak would have worked if Brady didn't **** the bed with the hand off.

that was poor all round really. Weak as crap defence, offence that stuttered. Some awful play calls. Yet despite it all, it should have went to over time. An awful lot to improve on, but the loss is no harm. The AFC is still in our control, and the loss may be the kick in the hole needed. I dont like when the Patriots are been given such short superbowl odds and talk of no one being near them. 2007 still haunts me. So at least a bit of a reality check mightnt do any harm and being tested so hard shows up the deficiencies and gives something to work on.

Logan Ryan needs to step up. He had a good year last year, but is now literally one of the worst starting CBs in the league.

I also think last night showed that plugging Elandon Roberts in for Jamie Collins and expecting similar production just isn't a good idea. I thought he was very poor last night.

What was that zone coverage? Complete failure scheme wise. Wilson took us apart with impunity through the air, while they ran through our guts. Seattle punted twice ffs.

Brady had one of his worst games in ages, that INT was a terrible throw and he was missing open receivers all game in favor of nothing shots down the field.

Carroll must be laughing his ass off this morning at the irony of the Pats failing to use Blount to punch it in from the 1.

Did you see Blount getting stopped at the goal-line?

One of the things that has made the Patriots great through the years is not being predictable on offense. You gotta try different things to keep the D off balance.

So this time it went wrong for us and we lost the game, what about it? If we win the Superbowl I doubt you will be giving out about us not scoring from the one yard line in a regular season game in November. We still lead the conference and that is all that matters.

I actually think that Blount would have punched it in on that last try. He was an inch away on his first attempt.

Having said that the play with Gronk was a good call but Gronk in my eyes fooked that play up. Rather than delay and release he decided to get tangled up for too long and that split second was the difference of him getting to the ball. He needs to learn to delay and release quicker.

But to touch on your last point EE. The most sensible play would have been to pound it. Either way its a 50/50 shot on 4th down. Blount has been getting a minimum of 2-3 yds a carry. I hate that people keep referencing the Superbowl for this play such a non entity as they are two very different calls. One was a 3rd down shot at the endzone and the other a 4th down shot.

I was expecting them to pound it and I'd imagine everybody else watching was so you can be certain the Seahawks were too and when that's the case it's very hard to win against that defense.

I have a different view of the Gronk thing, the defender got tangled up with him straight away imo and then he fought him off. I thought it was PI but it wasn't called and it's one of those that defenders do get away with a lot.

Gronk has gotten himself a bit of a reputation for being overly aggressive this year, so it's not surprising it wasn't called tbh.

Gronk put his hands on him first as it was supposed to be sold as a run. So delay and release. Problem is Gronk had his hands on the inside so it was easy for the defender to get away with PI call and delay the release. And it plays into how aggressive Gronk is and the reputation he has. The refs will let it happen every time. Gronk need to realize that and just release quicker. Make the initial contact and go.

Blount would have scored on the 1st run by if he had extended, I don't doubt he could have scored with 3 shots at it. He carried half their team to get in before that.

Even if they decided to go for a throwing play, surely a slant would the higher percentage call.

They both made contact at the same time but Gronk had his hands raised to try fend off the hold that was coming. Chancellor started to fall down then and tried to make it look like an offensive PI and tried to pull Gronk down with him which prevented him from making the catch. Imo it's a PI but, and we agree on it, Gronk's image is a bit tainted at the minute so anything that isn't outright is not going to go his way.

One less prime time game. SNF against Jets in week 12 moved to 9.25 with Chiefs/Broncos replacing it

Definitely for the best. In all likelihood this will be another embarrassing performance. The fewer eyes on the Jets, the fewer memes I have to wake up to the next day.

Gronk punctured a lung during the game and played on like it was nothing...BEAST

Expected to only miss one game which is nuts

I really find it hard to be optimistic about our playoff chances with this defense. The secondary is abysmal and we are getting no consistent pressure on QBs. Tannenhill took us apart ffs, never mind Wilson.

I'm with ya, our secondary is as rubbish as ever. Opponent at 3rd &17, heck they can be at 3rd & forever and they'll still get the down against our rubbish defense. All the investment in defense, all the high draft picks and were as shít as it's ever been. Meanwhile, lets put a substandard O line out there protecting Brady, because that's O.K. Just imagine if we hadn't of wasted some of our higher draft picks on defense down the years and maybe invested in the kind of quality O line that Dallas have done. Jayus, I'd say Brady would probably be retiring with 7 rings.

Afaic, Patricia should go. We can't pressure the QB, against Wilson they couldn't bring pressure and couldn't drop back to cover the pass because they were just rubbish. The Seahawks don't even have a good offense and yet we make them look good. In fact, we make most offenses look good playing against us. Look back to the Superbowl and our defense did everything to help the Seahawks win. Hightower had some great unsung plays and Butler pulled off that big play, but apart from that, the Seahawks were moving down the field and scoring at will.

It was Brady busting his nuts, putting in the greatest Superbowl comeback and QB performance of all time that won us that game and who put us in position to win it. Butler's play stole the limelight and maybe created the illusion that we had an up and coming defense when we actually don't. I also look at the Broncos and while they have nothing like the quality or the years of dominance that the Seahawks D have had in the league. They still have put together a very good defense and have improved immensely on where they were 4-5 years ago.

Meanwhile, we continue to tread water in defensive mediocrity. Every year we'll flatter to deceive, usually against the lower quality teams and every year our optimism for the defense gets brought back down to earth when we meet a half-decent team. What also makes this year particularly worrying is, we can't even get any turnovers liked we used to.

Offensively, I'm not concerned about the performance. We played the Packers in 2014 in what many thought was a Superbowl preview. We played a strange game plan and didn't really show our hand. If we meet the Seahawks next February, I've no doubt they'll be facing Brady & co playing in top gear. Of course we'll no doubt lose the game, thanks to the clowns on defense never being able to do their job when we really need them to.

Overall, the only positive that I can take from the Seahawk's game is that Chancellor's helmet smashed into Brady's thigh and thankfully missed his right knee. It was just a reminder that at anytime, we are just one play away from losing the GOAT.

It's so incomprehensible how poor our defense has been for the last 5+years. Your point is well made, we've been poor in the same areas year after year. If the team felt they had to move on from Guge for the poor OL performance, after a SB success, Patricia should definitely feel pressure.

A question ought to asked by the organization as to their effectiveness at identifying areas of weakness and the strategy to correct them. The OL and D should not not have the same systemic issues year after year.
