So since Wednesday we have seen reference to Trump banning all Muslims from coming to the US removed from his website, and now we hear him say that he likes bits of Obamacare and that he plans to keep some of it.

Unsurprisingly what someone says to get elected doesn't always marry up with what they do when they get into office (I'm not expecting to see this wall built anytime soon either).

I wonder if Trump's bark will be worse than his bite.

I still worry about his attitude towards China over trade and his apparent willingness to withdraw military for NATO in the event of a Russian attack which could leave the Baltics and Western Ukraine feeling very vulnerable. At the same time working with Russia in Syria seems perfectly sensible so it's a bit of a catch 22.

Anyway all the above doesn't excuse his campaign and to be honest I don't know how anyone could vote for him. But then I wouldn't have sure about voting for Clinton either and there lies the reason why Trump will soon be President.

His views on climate change are what really bother me about him, can't say I'm a big fan of his VP's opinions on the LGBT community either.

I haven't paid much attention to Pence.

But yes Trump's views on climate change are troubling. Again once he is in receipt of all the data that as President his views may change. Of course maybe he doesn't care about climate change and that is a worry.

That is true but I think anyone inclined to do that probably voted for the target anyway

Not sure about that, there's radicalisation occurring across the spectrum now (the Dallas shootings for example). It's a crazy country, anything could happen over there.

Didn't Pence also want to force women who had abortions to hold funeral services for their foetus? And also thinks women who have abortions should be punished by the law?

Now that he's been elected, I'd much prefer Trump wasn't impeached. I'd wager a lot of what came out of his mouth during the election was either to appeal to the masses or he doesn't care either way. Pence is the one everyone should be scared of. He has a document record of being a horrible human being and politician.

The fact "Conversion Theropy" exists and what it involves is horrible enough but that someone is a position of real power is in favour of it is just downright grim.

Yeah I think the specifics of the whole Pence thing were that he didn't support federal funding of healthcare for AIDS patients who engaged in "risky behavior"(gay people) but if they were willing to undertake conversion therapy he supported funding it and assistance for their healtchare after.

Basically he wanted to blackmail gay AIDS patients into undergoing conversion therapy to avail of federal assistance with their healthcare. Pretty despicable really.

Apparently Trump doesn't want to live in the White House full time. He wants to be able to spend as much time in NY and Florida as he can and is looking to be in Washington during the week but head off home on the weekends.

Sounds like trump is only now realising what he's got himself in for

Very much sounds like he really didn't think he would win or gave zero thought to the consequences of winning.

Could he say thanks but no thanks at this point? I assume there's nothing stopping him but it just never happened before. What would happen?

The VP would be sworn in

VP takes over if something happens after he's president. Not sure he gets to be president if the guy who was elected doesn't get inaugurated.

VP takes office, he's next in line, if both Trump and the VP decide not to take office, it's then the speaker of the house and so on and so forth.

Think that's a writer? ...so either it's in one of his books...or the idea of both the President and VP not taking office are ideas that would be worthy of his novels

From what I've learnt today about Mike Pence we should probably be grateful for Donald Trump...

Chances are it will be Pence doing most of the work anyway. Cheney was basically calling the shots when Bush was in office, I'd imagine they're in for something similar now.

No, the mods in that thread were going to be lenient and I even apologised but then another poster had a moan about it so I said I'd take myself out of the thread and they could go back to moaning themselves AND I GOT A RED CARD FOR THAT!

No skin off my nose. Same few posters in that thread constantly complaining about PC gone mad and the likes. It's been annoying me for ages so I was going to stay out of it anyway.

Just on the subject of how horrible a person/ politician Pense is. I found this comment on Reddit.

    http://reddit.com/r/Indiana/comments/4u6qfr/why_is_mike_pence_disliked_in_indiana/d5ng4e0

There's probably some bias in there but even taking that into consideration thsts a long list of "accomplishments"

I see there a thread on the soccer board complaining about the amount coverage rugby is getting in TV at the moment. I wonder is that where some of less well known users popping up around here are coming from?

Based on my experience in the tennis forums the most high profile events of the year always attract a wave of new posters who disappear just as swiftly again once the event ends.
