Don't mention Joe's opinions on the Soviet Union during the Trinity years.

    Do tell, I'm all ears.

    Such professionalism.
Ah, for the good old days, when the grizzled, hardened reporters would simply telex their copy in from the hotel bar. None of that on-the-spot immediacy nonsense (although, from reading their reports, you would swear they were in the slit trenches dodging muck and bullets).

Joe was involved with the TCD Students' Union during the 1980s when there was a big hubbub about TCD SU's relationship with the USSR via the International Union of Students.

I can't find anything on that directly, but I thought I'd post these

Aye, well; everybody has their price. Didn't take RTE long to find Joe's.

Thanks, I'm really enjoying it so far. It was recommended to me by someone who knows me pretty well and reckons I am or at least am turning into the Irish Larry David. I've only started Season 2 but I can see some resemblance!:D Up to this point I thought I was the only person that random crazy sh*t happened to on a regular basis, I should learn to monetise this like Larry.......

There's a scene in the extended mockumentary (an extra on Season 1) where Jason Alexander is talking about a reading of a Seinfeld script and he says something like "this is ridiculous, this could not happen like this and this is not how people would react if it did"; and Larry retorts with "it happened to me and it happened exactly like that". I know how that feels!

He's grudgingly accepting it for now, as he KNOWS he's worth a lot more than that. :D

Sure who is he to determine what a nurse is wurth so to speak? He's a modern martyr to put in the hours he does - no wunder he needs all the unannounced break-eens to relax and keep on top of his game. Often I hear aubibld yawns from Joe lahv on the air - it's not that he's bored or disinterested says I () it's the toll all those hours take on the man. I mean who else would wurk 75 mins a day incl. breaks on average 4 days a week for 40 weeks a year for such pittance? Joe saves more lives annually than the entire HSE and he should be rewarded accordingly. I hope NOEL gets Joe a big increase in de fees did year. HE THOUROGHLY DESERVES IT.........NOT.

I liked Curb, but it got a bit monotonous after the first few series. Larry does or says something stupid, and then he has to try to resolve it for the rest of the show... every episode is the same. But the episode where his friend (the heavy guy) sleeps with Bam Bam is hilarious.

How did he get a job as a social worker with a criminal record?

Oh yeah it's the same formula alright and you can see the set ups coming a mile off, but some of the lines are hilarious. It's obviously not as good as Mrs. Browinz Boyiz or Funny Fryday now but in fairness is there anything funnier than those two wunderful, fantastic shows so to speak?

When you've been to Trinners its not what you've done or how you've done it but it's who you do it to!

    I wondered about that myself.

There was another time which almost saw Joe and his rabble being expelled from TCD: Joe was President of the USI and crashed a visit of the Taoiseach, Garret FitzGerald, to Trinity College. Dr FitzGerald was pelted with eggs by Joe's gang, and Joe tried to take the microphone from the Taoiseach but was pulled off stage by officers from the Special Branch.

The Taoiseach and College officials left the room in protest (as you would if some rowdy brats were throwing eggs at you).

In many ways, Joe was the Shane O'Curry of TCD. Remarkable how money can change a person.

You'd think he could paint in focus, ffs. Is that too much to ask?
