I was a bit underwhelmed with this documentary tbh. A lot of fill in.

I need to be careful here as it's an ongoing case which might be groundless, but the focus on the Jackson family felt a little strange.

We berate the English media for over the top reaction when they win anything, yet here we are with a documentary about winning a glorified practice match in a best of 3 series which was lost two to one. Also over the top reaction and hyperbole about the "stunning" win against NZ last weekend. Hypocrisy much.

I wouldn't share your viewpoint, there's no such thing in rugby as a non test match. It was a great achievement to win in SA with 14 men. But i accept your point that we're too fond of clapping ourselves on the back about a lot of things. Great little country crap.

My problem this evening was the programme was boring and full of cliche. I was probably expecting too much.

And i follow all sports i'd highly rate the Ireland's draw in Russia and Richard Dunne's performance that night in the euro 2012 qualifiers. I'd admire the Kilkenny hurling team of the noughties etc.

I could be wrong, I do seem to be on a bit of a media bashing binge at the moment. Just seems that a documentary about one win in a losing test series should not be documentary material. I am going to sleep now before I sound any more like Eamonn Dunphy.

Fact is Ireland could not win a series in SA against the worst BOK team in living memory as well as the worst coach(I include PDV)

LOL! Nobody cares about SA or their moribund rugby culture. Ireland put 40 on the All Blacks, and they put 40 on Seth Efrika.

So that's ur reply???come back to reality,Ireland will get thumped by NZ in next week, the world looks at that win to be more of a shock than when Japan beat SA so what does that tell u??irish fans tend to get way ahead of themselves then when they fall down they are full of excuses?why couldn't u win a series in SA????honest question so would love to hear ur reply to that?

I will not discuss rugger with a person from a country that shipped 60 points to New Zealand this season.

It is only possible to have a proper convo about rugger with rugger chaps from other Tier 1 countries. Not shanty South Africans.

CJ standers mom looks alrite tbf lol

South African rugby fans are very cocky. They are sore enough losers too (remember when we beat them in CP in 2009 when they were world champs and the SA players didn't clap the Irish team in)

So we lost a friendly series 2-1 and beat New Zeland in a friendly!

What's the big deal, they were friendlies!

When it mattered most at the World Cup the rugby team FAILED

It was a promo for Vodafone nothing more, very underwhelming compared to rte's previous rugby docs. Would have liked to see more about cj stander.

The hysteria that greeted the NZ win was some sight.

They should hang their heads for the century of the appalling record, and be relieved at snapping that, surely long after the other 7 or 8 countries that play the game did it. It must have been the worst losing streak by any Irish team in any sport. We had to win one, if just in the law of averages. I had grown men telling me it was the greatest result by an Irish international team, overlooking our soccer team beating the Brazils, Germanys, Italys and Spains, our cricket team disposing of Pakistan and England in World Cups etc.

I hate when we win something we always have to say "oh look at the english now". We certainly weren't saying that after the the olympics.

When you think Ireland had the muster to draw away to the world champs and beat them at home in football, in tournament football when it was required, it makes you wonder how Ireland lost for over a century to NZ in rugby. I know it's a different sport but our footballers are terrible compared to Germany whereas I keep hearing about all the world class rugby players we have. We don't even have one world class footballer right now but we can take a superpower head every few years.

Scoring systems are completely different and this allows for fewer shocks in Rugby. Its similiar to Gaelic Football. The best team will generally prevail, which is why you see the likes of New Zealand go on an 18 game winning streak. You wouldn't see that in soccer at the highest level too often where a defensive game employed with the right tactics can often see the better team failing to score at all.

That's what the rugger crowd always say. It was a glorified friendly game. Ireland have a 1-1-27 record now against New Zealand. Embarrassing stuff. Yet the win in a friendly in Chicago is being hailed. It's still being talked about on the radio nearly a week later.
