    Hang on a second here.

Just because someone didn't want to see Trump voted in doesn't mean they are a special snowflake SJW type.

All it means is that they didn't like his total lack of actual policies, his total lack of political understanding and the simple fact he's a kinda gross bloke.

    Get a grip.

    Total lack of political understanding.

    Is the next president.

    Pick one.

Who knows, but they did elect Reagan previously, in fact they elected a load of flakes, Nixon, Carter, the Bush's, Bill Clinton.

Well well, how do you even begin to apply logic to Donald Trump ending up as President? In many ways Trump is just a symptom of what he himself referred to as a 'movement' in his acceptance speech.

This was a backlash against the status quo, just a shame the two parties couldn't have put forward a more credible moderate candidate between them. The Democrats seem to have badly misjudged the level of hatred towards Clinton.

The parallels with Brexit are obvious. A vast sway of the electorate looking to make a protest vote even though their protest has no alignment to policy. I've heard various Trump voters describing him as honest. What twilight zone are these people living on? He whipped up the disaffected with a hardline populist agenda that has no basis in reality. Does he honestly think he is going to reverse globalisation?

The best hope is that he softens his views. This was already apparent when he thanked Clinton for her work in his acceptance speech, despite previous assertions that she would be put on trial. If he surrounds himself with a good team who keep him in line then there's a chance this might be ok. He is way too impulsive to be left on a loose leash.

I cant wait for John Oliver's next show, I think he's excellent but he slaughtered Trump at every opportunity. Its the back tracking of all those who said it was "unthinkable" "unimaginable" will be glorious to watch and pure entertainment.

    I absolutely love an upset.

Why would you think John Oliver would backtrack on what he said about Trump?

He doesn't strike me though as someone who will take kindly to being "kept in line" and will only end up getting incredibly frustrated at not being able to just snap his fingers and get things done as he has been used to up till now.

The alienation, marginalisation and neglect of white lower socioeconomic groups caused this shift to the right. Don't blame the voters.

Much like Brexit, now he has to actually give the people what he promised. The great thing about democracy is that if the guy elected in ****s up, then people can send him on his merry way.

So for the Trumpists congrats, now you have to actually achieve something. Good luck with that!

Absolutely bizarre that the same people who disliked Clinton for being corrupt and a liar are now praising the idea of good relations with Vladimir feckin Putin.

sorry that id rather see a positive relationship between the two biggest nuclear arsenals in the world...not a fan of getting vapourised

Well we all know putin certainly is. It'll be interesting to see what trump does with nato. There could be tanks rolling into certain parts of Europe if he decides to withdraw support like he's alluded to.
Perhaps start with hungary, straight into budapest, put some manners on them. Or maybe poland, just like the good old days...

Your being rather unfair to them. They made there choice. There not children who don't know what there doing. If things don't work out, due to the choice they made, then its on them.

BTW, America has been a democracy this whole time. So all those other decisions that people disagree with. Guess what, also the fault of the people who elected them.

In a democracy you get the government you deserve, and nothing more. If it doesn't work out, then choose better next time, and stop making excuses.

It doesn't sound like you have read it.

He was demonstrating the reporter was flustered because he was forced to backtrack and deny an article he'd written. As pointed out the reporter doesn't have cerebral palsy or any disability that would make him flap his arms. The reporter's arm is frozen, so it doesn't add up that trump was imitating him.
There's a few videos on that catholics4trump link showing him making the same gesture when he's talking about opponents and it's obvious hes not making a comment on a disability.

Is there a reasons why the fact that they're catholics for trump should negate what evidence they've compiled and shown on that page? Because it sounds a bit bigoted when people keep bringing up their name.

''He just definitely is'' in the face of evidence to the contrary obviously isn't going to wash.

You don't understand why a source called 'Catholics for Trump' might not be approaching this subject in an objective manner?

They have not provided facts just their (biased) (mis)interpretation.

"But...but... he waved his arm around so he couldn't possibly be mocking him" is like saying he didn't mock someone in a wheelchair because he wasn't fully seated when he did the impression.

I see where youre coming from there, but to me the idea of two such powerful countries with unstable leaders being open to the idea of working together is terrifying.

id much rather them working together than a potential act of war by militarily enforcing a no fly zone in an area littered with russian planes...now that, would be terrifying!

Working together to what end ?

The US' and Russia's goals are completely opposite of each other. Only in Syria/Iraq would they get along, and probably only temporarily.

no particular goals just a lowering of tension and the reduction of the chances of nuclear war...I'm not saying they should form the ''coalition of the willing part II'' im just suggesting that a good diplomatic relationship between the two isnt exactly the worst idea

True, but neither Putin nor Trump can be trusted to keep that going I feel.

It's good that for now relations seem to be a bit better, but I think that's only because Putin knows Trump has zero experience in politics and he feels he can use him.
