    Remember this ...
In surprise comments in the Dáil yesterday, the Taoiseach openly admitted that the billionaire businessman’s comments — which have dominated debate in the US presidential nomination race — were both “racist and dangerous”.

Furthermore, US voters had an alternative to vote for, noted a candid Mr Kenny.

    Awwwkwarrrddd!! :p

No. What we have is a disenfranchised group that has been feed lies and hate politics. Just like Brexit. Now we shall see the lies exposed. All these promises cannot be delivered.

There seems to be rather a lot of them. Four states haven't declared yet, but still'n'all:

Very strange things are happening in global politics, so who knows. These decisions are somewhat brave and courageous, but I feel a lot are made by misinformed individuals. People are very angry and understandably so, we need to thread careful here. Very interesting stuff though

Leo stuck the boot in too though.. and they can't say they weren't warned - from the same article:
However, the Taoiseach’s remarks left Republican supporters here puzzled, with a veiled warning that Mr Kenny’s criticisms may also come back to haunt him or even the country.

Tom Plank, chairman of Republicans Abroad Ireland, said: “The Taoiseach’s comments are as much for domestic consumption as Trump’s were. But it might be better to think about how things are phrased, in case he wins.”

I'd say there won't be much of a rush to present the bowl of Shamrock this year! :p

Well , when people get their " facts " in 130 characters or less, what do you expect.

Trump apparently started with 1 million which is a lot but he grew it to something extreme. And to not get away from my point, he is a successful businessman who knows how to win. He's learned from failures and success

Kilboor, you're in fairy land if you think his inheritance was only $1 million.

Love the clueless Irish people celebrating this without having any knowledge of how badly his proposed policies could actually affect us.

First obvious one is he declared he is going to remove pretty much all of the regulation put in place on banks and wall street over the past 8 years, cus that can only lead to a good outcome for the little people.

Hes also gonna drop the US corp tax to a proposed 15% meaning many of all those fancy high tech jobs we currently depend on may very well disappear back across the pond.

All that deregulation means England is gonna get in a trade war with the US to try and keep them cus of brexit by doing similar deregulation so all those fancy banks we were hoping to get after brexit, yeah they arent coming.

And all of the above is pretty much supported by 100% of republican senators and congressman and they control both houses now.

All of this will just lead to a further US deficit which trump couldn't give a toss about so thats gonna be fun when it finally hits.

America won't be the big kid looking out for us in the playground anymore and neither will the UK, populism has won and individualism is the name of the game for the next while and as a country with only 5 million people we are a very small individual.

Then you walk around with your eyes wide shut. Policticans have gotten it so wrong lately. From Merkle to Cameron now Clinton. They are learning that being so try hard pretendy politically correct has got a big middle finger.

Sanders would have won that election.
Indeed(though many of his policies didn't add up either). I mean how bloody awful a candidate does one have to be to lose and lose pretty decisively to someone like Donald Trump? *mind blown*. THough I'm finding the over reaction and tearing at breasts with some in the media bloody hilarious. :pac:

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Great to hear all the lefty media on the media crying into their cornflakes this morning.

I'm a fiscal conservative. Personally I don't see trump as either right wing or conservative. This is a man that has supported democrat candidates etc. He's more a FDR style tax and spend person ( he talks about rebuilding infrastructure etc , all this requires even more taxes )

I was asked a question the other day on whether I think Americans are stupid or not solely based onn this election and I said "no"

    Beginning to wonder now.

Dangerous how exactly? Can someone explain what is so dangerous about Trump? No 'he's like Hitler' comments please.

Why do people think they have the God-given right to illegally live in other countries?

Can't say I saw this happening, not even close.

But if I then read that the Democrats basically assumed some states would vote for them and hence didn't even bother to campaign there, plus the way they treated Sanders then it makes more sense.

The big issue is that this affects the rest of the world too though, as otherwise I'd love to just sit back and see Trump try to come up with ideas to fix everything he talked about.

2.5 million Hispanics were deported under Obama. If you're wondering Why so many voted Trump.

Both as bad as each other.

No matter who won it was a bad day

Same here, and a lot of the people with their ''we're all f*cked'' type of comments and calling Americans idiots wouldn't even know where their own polling station is and if they did they couldn't be arsed voting.

Turn on the radio and listen to asn economist explain how his proposed policies will affect us.

The obvious one is a 15% corporation tax
