Almost makes me regret my purchase of a Delkevic slip-on, that I'll be fitting at the weekend...
Exhaust fitted. Fiddly job keeping the clearance for the pannier, but got it done in the end. Haven't removed the baffle yet (giving the neighbours some time to acclimatize), but already sounding a lot better than the stock exhaust and looking a lot better too.

For a VFR1200? I couldn't find any that were remotely comparable in price, which had me a little worried about the quality of the Delkevic, but I'm pretty impressed with the build quality. When you consider that you could buy four of them for the price of an Akrapovic...

Over the weekend I raised my handlebars (by about an inch) and it really makes a nice difference. I don't lean on my hands as much.

Is my first mod but I'm hoping to do more. I have heated grips to add next weekend.

I had just blocked the Ais system on the fz1 but there has been 2 weird noises since. One still to figure out but the other was the solenoid on the ais so i decided to just remove it entirely and put in block off plates.

Took god damn 4 hours! While it's opened up im gonna do the plugs. Just ordered 4 from ebay. Gotta order a plug removal tool too.

Also have a rizoma gold handlebar and bar ends on the way. And a full gold fairing and screen bolt kit as loads of fairing screws are wrecked.

Raised the back end by 13mm today, gives quicker turn in and a slightly nicer stance.
Flip the eccentric spacers upside down, torque down to 56nm and voila.

    Total cost??..........................FREE.:D

Today I gave the bike an oil, oil filter, air filter, dct clutch filter change. Just under 23k on the bike now.

    Nice fresh clutch filter

Old & New, This is the first Air filter change
    rlvn6g.jpg

Original Honda filter on Right. The replacement air filter seems like it will allow more air through. Im not sure. The Honda filter seems to have a finer mesh.

There is an ECU reset that I carried out. It just involves disconnecting the battery. Connecting it back up and leave the bike run until the fan kicks in. When the fan kicks in I hit the kill switch and thats it. Its supposed to take the air temps and other calculations to better decide on the fuel/air flow. Well so im told:)

The mesh is only there to support the filter element. The filter element is what restricts the air flow, the slight difference in the mesh is irrelevant but there may or may not be a difference in how much air flow the filter element lets through. Never had a problem with pattern air filters myself.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

@Hotblack, I have the DCT version which comes with its own mini filter. Off the top of my head I think there are good for 20,000 odd Km.

I have an original Optimate, a Louis Procharger XL and a small trickle charger as well as an 8a standard battery charger, the first two see duty throughout the year on two bike that sit for a while.
It really pays off when your battery is kept fully charged and ready to go.

My bike's filler neck is a bit grotty and the drain doesn't drain all that well.

So I decided to kick the can down the road instead of actually taking the tank off and doing the job, because I can do without the downtime. A cap for the cap was needed.

My eye wandered round the kitchen and I spotted this:

    IMG_20161023_224358 by macplaxton, on Flickr

    Mmmm Tunnocks!

At first I thought about using the base, to cover the fuel cap so over a cuppa I got the scissors out

    30144946923_4c0a5e3d2c_c.jpg
    IMG_20161023_224350 by macplaxton, on Flickr

and used the base of the tub with a flap. It was rubbish as it wasn't quite large enough in diameter. So plan B was implemented and that used the lid rather than the base of the tub and it is just slightly over the diameter of the cap assembly. Attached at the right-hand side with some grey duck tape it did okay for a week or so. Any water pooled on the slightly shouldered lid and would keep most - if not all - of the water out of the way, but I thought I could improve the stop-gap fix (ok, bodge).

This time I measured the cap recess diameter, got the knife out on a second tub (yum) and have now constructed a replacement cap hat. It's now a nice snug fit in the gap between the cap edge collar and the tank top panel.

Started debaffling my Street Glide yesterday. Got the shock of my life when the first came out. They're huuuuuge compared to the US bikes baffles.

Everyone loves noisy Harleys right ?? :pac:

It's PP and just a cover to keep the rain out, it's not containing any petrol the tank and cap are doing that job. All it'll get is a whiff of vapour now and then, by the time it's ready to fall apart I'll either have fixed the stupid internal water drain tube or munched through several more pots of Tommy Tunnock's finest. ;)

It's not going to just melt looking at it. I reckon that sunlight (UV) will finish off the plastic first.
