Nah pretty sure I've read him described as below, height confirmed.

    His name was H̶o̶m̶e̶r̶ Conor
    Seven feet tall.
    Arms like tree trunks.
Eyes like steel, cold and hard.
Had a shock of hair, red.
    Like the fires of hell.

I read two books by Dr Michael moseley (chap off horizon documentarys). The FAST DIET and HIIT excirise. At a guess I say the mac life fast plan is pretty much hiit training. Dr moseley bangs on about vox and all that jazz.

Not sure I understand your question. If its in regards to hiit training it's high intensity interval training. It's shorts bursts of high tempo excirise whilst keeping the heart rate in a certain zone. That's my basic knowledge of it anyway .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,711 ✭✭✭cloudatlas

All you need is a heavy bag, a treadmill, an exercise bike, and a rowing machine. You will also need a heart rate monitor to track your workout performance.

Oh WELL then if that's ALL I need then No Problem!

Only 267.15 euro, that's a steal and then you can be like a world champion who has trained for years.

I really think this was a huge error in judgement by Conor and i'm surprised the team didn't think this through.

By that i mean the following:

I understand he has timed the launch of this program to coincide with UFC 205 and the huge publicity surrounding it. Take one look at the comments section and it's almost 99% negative and/or abusive. The quickest way for a rich, popular athlete/celebrity to alienate his fanbase is for them to feel exploited.

The negative criticism and blowback is something he really doesn't need to contend with this week. His focus should be 100% on Eddie. He doesn't need his Twitter and Instagram riddled with negativity and most of the abuse/criticism is coming from his own fans - not the usual Diaz blow-ins.

The site itself doesn't inspire very much confidence. It's a fairly basic design and outlay and it's riddled with spelling errors and design errors. I counted 8 separate typos. "aerobic" in place of "anerobic". Accidental double spaces in sentences. Commas in wrong places. Some text not fitting in place etc.

People are not going to hand over 300 euro for a training program based on a website riddled with sloppy errors and mistakes. They're not even likely to hand it over for a flawless website but at least get the basics right. It blows my mind how you can launch a high profile website with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. It would be no different to him showing up to fight Alvarez having not brought any of his own mouth-guards - pure sloppy, lazy, incompetent even.

The intro video looks very forced and serious. He's clearly reading off cards/teleprompter. That's not the Conor the fans love.

More to the point, who is he aiming this program at? John said himself Conor couldn't even get sponsorship for a tub of protein in 2012. Would the 2012-version of Conor buy MacLifeFast? Of course he wouldn't. Far too steep. It prices out a huge % of amateur fighters. Hell, there's pros in the UFC on the bottom tier who couldn't afford this.

I really thought this would be aimed at people like me. Guys who spend half their life on a computer and phone and get very little exercise. If he pitched an affordable training plan at people like me, at an affordable price, he'd clean up. I'd certainly be willing, as a fan, to hand over maybe 150 for a 6 month program designed at getting me off the couch to a decent level of fitness. And maybe then when i got to an intermediate level i could pay 200 for the advanced program.

I understand this is early days for this venture and the spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and website design can be changed and improved. But why on earth would you invite negativity into your life 4 days before the fight of your life?

Incredible really. He's misjudged this catastrophically on the timing. It seems extremely sloppy, very rushed, ill-conceived, over-priced and he's already alienating his own fanbase - which is almost criminal given the amount of money a lot of us spend on following him.

Being honest, what he's just done is the equivalent of John pricing up Win or Learn at 50 euro for the book with the front cover containing a spelling mistake!! People can spot a money-grab.

I think his heart was in the right place. He probably got such a buzz over this new cardio thing but he has to do things right. He's already getting a lot of negative criticism for the 24option association (which is effectively gambling).

If i were him i'd take the site down for a week, turn off his phone, beat Alvarez and re-launch before Xmas with some proper effort and thought gone into it.

All the feedback i'm seeing, everywhere, is negative. It's the last thing anybody needs before a big fight.

Me too, but I think I opened a can of worms by asking :o

Conor isn't 5'9... I don't care what anyone says. Eddie probably isn't either.

Height is self declared in the UFC for some bizarre reason, reach might be as well. That's why some fighters still don't have leg reach listed, they just haven't bothered submitting it.

Reach beats height IMO and McGregor has a 5 inch reach advantage which is huge IMO. Alvarez will find it very difficult to close the distance Would love to know what his leg reach is compared to others in the LW division. I remember about two years back when he went to ESPN to do tests and some of his stats were phenomenal.

That was a cool episode with Daniel Cormier holding pads for him. Had totally forgotten that until you mentioned it.

Jack Slack always says range is more important than height, where range = height and reach in conjunction. He's got a massive advantage in this department.

Moseley's fast diet is about fasting two days a week. I'd say this is nothing to do with anything like that.
His Fast/Hiit exercise is about that 3 mins per week is all you need schtick.

HIIT is like you described about, but its not about specific heart rates. It's more flat out bursts, followed by recovery - regardless of HR.

    The MacLife Fast appears to be conditioning training. I'd guess it's something like;
Recovery session on treadmill, long slow cardio
Medium intensity, tempo sessions on heavy bag, bike, rower
Power/Sprints on the Rower and bike

I highly doubt Conor is sitting around checking what people are saying on Twitter/IG/Facebook. I'd guess he hasn't actually developed this training program. I imagine Dalby developed it, Conor just endorses it.
The site itself doesn't inspire very much confidence. It's a fairly basic design and outlay and it's riddled with spelling errors and design errors. I counted 8 separate typos. All valid criticism, but also common with new websites/magazines and basically anything on a deadline.
The intro video looks very forced and serious. He's clearly reading off cards/teleprompter. That's not the Conor the fans love.
Well, he probably is being fed a script.
As above, He's on board to be the face of this program.
I really thought this would be aimed at people like me. Guys who spend half their life on a computer and phone and get very little exercise.

It's hard to say who it is aimed at without more info. But from a purely economically point of view, I'd imagine it is in fact aimed at regular guys looking to get fitter.

A branded training DVD might cost about $99-$119*. This is a bit over that ($295/€265). Whether or not it's worth it depends on the personal training aspect and other content imo.
If you just want to get fitter, you can get a program online for free.

Don't think that would be much of a fight.

Would expect a lot of words being thrown at each other though.

So it's 300 odd quid for a few months access to a website with a training programme that Julian developed?

    G'luck with that.

Some idiots will buy it. A smarter person would spend the same on a series of personal trainer sessions and gym membership over the same time and have infinity better results.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,140 ✭✭✭dashoonage

Take the 300 quid. Join BJJ. Eat relatively healthy. Track it if you have too. try and get 7-8 hours sleep a night. Profit.

Save 100 quid for counseling on your new BJJ addiction though.
