I was surprised when my better half chose me years ago over any one of my friends who were all trying to get her attention.
She was the new girl in the office and was amazing but I never bothered as she was out of my league. They were all athletic and good looking but I was a " nearly there" in terms of good looks/body.

When I asked her why she fancied me over the others etc she said I looked "cuddly".

She gives out to me now for not caring about my weight.
    Hah !

I find the likes of Bailey Jay to be the most attractive body type to me.
    No, seriously.

My figure is like hers but I wouldn't be as toned and am bustier on top. I'd prefer to be much slimmer.

    oh la la....:D

I'm 5' 10''. I've always considered average to be within an inch or two.

Someone said earlier attraction is not all about evolution and s selection and shít but it actually is nothing but.

Why would someone be most attracted to a certain WHR or biometry etc? Because that composition reflects good health, fertility and is the best option for a mate.

Why would someone be attracted to a kind, friendly but decisive and strong personality? Because they'll be a reliable and stable partner to have kids with.

And that's the way it is because throughout history people who were sexually attracted to body types reflective of suboptimal health and fertility, or mental nutters, or trees, or goats did not reproduce as effectively as the others.

Then how come what people find attracive varies so much. I know a few guys who would only be into catwalk model beanpole types. Iknow others who are into more voluptuous types. I know guys who are into girls who fall between that. I know guys who are into overweight girls. I know guys who are into the extremem makeup girls. I know guys who prefer the more natural look. I know a girl who was first attracted to a guy because of the jumper he was wearing when they met. I could list all the endless weird things that go into attraction that I have experienced or heard about. Sure evolution has played a part, but its so ridiculous when this topic comes up and people start going on about the number of offspring a certain type might raise in a hunter/gatherer society.

and why people choose others with nice personalities doesn't really need some evolutionary explanation. Nobody wants to spend the rest of their life with a ****. Simple.

I fancy me some double D boobs, or else the 5 ft nothing petite chick. Don't mind a little chubby if the Boobs are big

****ing hell women don't just throw themselves at confidence, this lad is a handsome tall guy, he has women throwing themselves at him, it has **** all to do with confidence

Yeah. I wonder if the handsome six five thing, the women throwing themselves at him thing, and the confidence thing are all weirdly linked somehow? If only we could figure it out.

Fwiw you can be very confident in any shape or height. Confidence is really attractive to many, many people. Look into it.

Oh another thing that's nothing to do with body shape but a huge turn on/off for me, is SHOES. Really good shoes can make a man. Really bad ones can finish him off no matter what he looks like. Don't know why, it's just so important to me.

I know it's slightly off topic (and also a matter of personal taste) but why why why do women think they look better with short hair!? Specifically those who had relatively long hair who then decide to go and chop it all off? What is the reasoning behind this? I find it so unattractive!

"Short hair don't care!" Well you should friggin care you've gone from an 8 to a 5!

This may or may not be relevant to a post I have just saw on Facebook of a girl who I *used to* fancy...

    Because they do?

Most women look much, much better with shorter hair, I find. It enhances their facial structures, makes many look a little taller and just overall is a much better look.
I've yet to meet a single woman who did not look better with short hair.

Complete opposite for me. I've yet to meet a woman who didn't look better with long hair.

Mind you I do have a thing about long hair...

ShortER is one thing, these boyish super short crops are awful.

This isn't true. I've never met a girl who liked big muscley dudes. I can only think of the girls on Jersey Shore as being into that type! I'm thinking of male sex symbols of today... Michael Fassbender, Tom Hiddlestone, etc. all slim and in proportion. Maybe "lean" is the word to describe the figure they seem to portray as being the most desirable in men.

What about the look Henry Cavill has in Superman, Chris Evans has in Captain America or Chris Helmsworth has for Thor.Be under no illusions whilst these guys are very lean they have built alot of muscle for their roles .I think the term muscley gets a bad rap and everyone thinks of drugged up bodybuilders on stage. Theirs no doubt about the vast majority of women will find the physiques of those actors in their superhero roles must appealing

No way. Looking like a feminine boy does not enhance them!

I always assumed that men preferring females with long hair just prefer seeing as little of their faces as possible.
Personally, I'm way more attracted to faces than to hair. Long hair just hides all that beauty.

Well most (all!) girls where I am from don't run around like cousin it...so their faces are fully visible. I know it's subjective, but longer hair is so much nicer in my view.

Maybe they're less concerned with what some random dude would grade them on some silly frat boy hot-or-not scale and more concerned about hair health, or want something low maintenance that won't require hours of styling, or simply prefer the short hair look. Endless reasons really.

I think I'm the only person in the world that thought Britney looked better when she shaved her head. That's until I found out she was crazy.

I'd be the same as yourself. I find long hair much more attractive on a girl. I can't warm to cropped hair styles or even mid-neck length.
I dunno, just find short hair on a girl to be very menopausal looking.

How short are you talking about?

Really short only suits a handful of women I think, even model/celeb good looking can't manage it, but looks amazing on that handful that can pull it off.

    Chin-length or shorter.
I agree that a really close crop is the other extreme, I find that this indeed suits very few women, and absolutely no men.

:D I've never seen a woman whose face was obscured by her hair. It usually falls alongside the ears not over the face! Even a plait or ponytail looks better long and that's well away from the face.
Hair is lovely.. why would you want to have less of it.

I find men in skinny jeans a real turn off.
Add a beard it makes me nauseous.

How they are silly enough to buy into the media spin that "beards are cool" is testament to their low iq.
Beards are hiding a guilty conscience imo.

The single biggest turn off I've found are women with a fondness for those ridiculous bull nose rings. They're so fúcking stupid.

The first thing I'm attracted to in a girl is her face. Then boobs, gotta have nice (big) boobs. I prefer a girl with a bit of meat. Meat is for men, bones are for dogs :pac:

You're German. Any German women I've known who are in Ireland are amazed by how most women have long hair here. I think it's more normal to have short hair in Deutschland.
Personally I don't really care either way!

I would say it's a larger percentage of women in Germany who have short hair, definitely. But I'm not sure they're in the majority, either. My friends in Germany seem to alternate between long and short, for the most part. That way, overall, they'd have long hair for longer periods of time than they have short hair.

I can gather from this that the trend is women find well muscular, well toned guys attractive insofar as they are a novelty and nice ogle and phoaw over but they're not attracted to that physique in a serious settle down with them type of way. They wouldn't want to date or marry them (assuming equivalent personalities here)

It follows that it seems also that there is a greater preference for "dad bod" type physiques. Why do people think this is? It seems counter intuitive, no?

To me a slack, dad-bod would be indicative of sub-optimal health, not a great diet, sub-optimal fitness and strength. The theory of human attraction and mating behaviour is that a person is seeking out fitness and health in a partner and certain body types etc look more attractive because they are indicators of health and therefore that person would be a good bet to breed children from vs someone less attractive, and therefore possibly less healthy. For example certain human behaviours such as dance evolved because being able to do so was a display not only of fitness, able bodiedness and health, but also of strong social skills which are equally important in a breeding partner.

Logically you would think that people would be attracted to a physique that was stronger, fitter and healthier.

Someone commented that heavily muscular physiques were not especially selected for since protein rich food was scarce enough for most of our history. I don't think it was a case of it being selected against, per se, but because protein was scarce even those who had "muscular genes" did not have an advantage because their muscle building ability was limited by diet. That meant mr muscle genes was on an equal footing as mr skinny. That's why we have different body types today its just some guys who have "big muscle genes" are able to capitalise on it due to the availability of protein. It could also be theorised that we have some women today that are attracted to less muscular male bodies because their ancestral cavewomen couldn't select for muscular physiques because everyone was probably skinny back then regardless of their genes because of the limitation of protein rich food.

I think it's a reasonable attempt at amateur analysis of our evolutionary biology and why we are the way we are.
