I really like the look of that. Also with mobile hardware on it you can get a load of android games on it which would make it a good buy as a tablet for a child. Clever move Nintendo. The kid can start with mobile ballox and move on to the hard stuff.

Looking forward to Christmas 2019 when Switch actually has a roster of software.

The PS4 should have something worth playing aside from Bloodborne, Resogun and The Last Guardian by then too!

Actually, was the Wii the last system to launch with killers apps? Wii Sport and Twilight Princess doing double duty in a sunset/sunrise kinda thing.

I really don’t want another Tablet device for gaming on :0/
I have to admit I’m quite disappointed in what I’ve seen so far from this new Nintendo-Nvidia Shield v2 Desktop/Mobile edition Nintendo Switch. Hopefully they will have decent batch of games for it, but I just wish they had pushed the hardware side of things a bit more.
Perhaps they have some extra beefy guts in that docking station thingy!?

I don't know, I think the hardware specs war is one Nintendo is only going to lose so this is IMO the smartest decision. Portable is where they dominate, and the 3DS is in need of an upgrade. If it upscales as easily and painlessly as the video suggests, that's basically just a lovely added bonus.

Also looks like a great social console, although again will have to see it in proper action. Local multiplayer is still IMO a big and often neglected draw, and this looks to have it deeply engrained into its fundamental hardware design which is refreshing to see.

Altogether it looks like Nintendo playing to their strengths, staying away from direct competition with Xbox, PC and PlayStation. They've learned a few lessons to it seems (including its super slick design and an actual good name for the damn thing!). Still think they face a battle in re-establishing their place in the market. But cautiously optimistic I must admit.

The PS2 launch line up was pretty anaemic, with the likes of Ridge Racer V interesting no one and the best of them, for me at least, was the glorified tech demo Fantavision.
The Xbox got Halo, PGR and Amped, which was pretty good.
The Gamecube had a cracking line up, Luigi's Mansion, Super Monkeyball and Waverace.
PS3, yet another forgettable line up on a ridiculously expensive console.
The 360 had a line up of good, PGR3, Amped 3, CoD2, bad, Perfect Dark Zero and ugly, Gun.
The Wii, as you said, had the pack in that killed follow up sales and p1ssed off 3rd parties no end, Wii Sports.

The PS4 and XB1... the best thing on the PS4 ended up being Resogun, and it still is! On the XB1... just pants from top to bottom, derivative 3rd party games like Assassins Creed 3, unimpressive new IP like Ryse, and shockingly poor efforts like Lococycle, that would have embarrassed on the OG Xbox.

Have to say the Switch has been great for the Simpsons gifs today. Someone even managed to throw in a futurama gif.

From Software also working on it as a 3rd party developer.

They have 3 games in production at the moment, one soulslike, one that's probably Armoured Core and one a bit more experimental.

So the experimental one could be a Switch title.... although how cool would it be to have a From Castlevania game on a Nintendo console?

Dark Souls is as close to a 3D Castlevania as anything has gotten. It's a far better facsimile than the Lords of Shadows games. It has the same pacing, enemies that don't take too much damage or take long to kill but presented in interesting ways to make them challenging and a lapse judgement spelling disaster. The Lords of shadows games just locked you in a room with bullet whip sponge enemies.

Has anyone used those portable screens for the gamecubes?

I did. Can't find the screen now but I think I still have a box of batteries for them . They'd hardly work but I have 5 or 6 of them.

    Funny having it completely portable.

Not retro but some folks here might enjoy this - an animated short from Pixar called Borrowed Time: https://vimeo.com/187257744. It's very good.

I don't think he's likely to dump the ROM.
More likely a VC release on WiiU/N3DS, I'm guessing plenty of people will pay €7.99 for the pleasure of playing it again.

Hmm wonder has anyone ever tried to extract a ROM from one of those Nintendo store games...

It's been done, it's just a ROM dump of the game with an custom emulation wrapper for that game.

So my SNES doesn't work with my Framemeister :( I'm hoping it's the cable so I've ordered one of the powered ones to see if that helps. I can still play Famicom games on it but there's only so much magic the framemeister can work on ****ty AV composite.

What happens when you try? I've the SNES running fine on my framemeister.

I just get a no input blue screen, I can hear the hum from the audio (think there isn't audio). It's a NTSC model. Pretty sure it might be that I need to power the cable. Aparently it's a problem with some NTSC consoles.

My Japanese N64 works just fine through the same cable.

the most surprising part is that Gamestop didn't think of it first.
