Bloody muslims, not standing up or saying anything to stop ISIS as usual.

Pretty big day,

Around 45,000 Iraqi army soldiers will lead the assault from the south of Mosul, while peshmerga forces move into position so they can block Isis escape routes to the north and east.

Americans are on the ground and in the air.

Not sure what the outcome will be of all this, UN reporting

may cause up to 100,000 Iraqis to flee to Syria and Turkey,

I hope they manage to rid the city of IS, its their last big stronghold. It would be a massive psychological blow for them to be kicked out of Mosul.

Loads of civillians will get butchered by isis and likely the Iraqi army and Shia groups. and Iranians will get bogged down and leave the heavy fighting to the Americans and kurds

Its going to be pretty grim. But the alternative is to leave IS in place to behead people for not following their way by the letter of the book. Either way there will be lots of casualties unfortunately.

The Saudi foreign minister, Adel al-Jubeir, says Mosul will turn into a bloodbath and mass killings if the Iraqi government allows Shia militias to enter the city, as it has in other Iraqi cities liberated from Islamic State control

I've no doubt they will take it back but it's going to be a messy situation once it's complete.

well going by past performaces I wouldn't like to be a nurse or doctor at work or attending a wedding or attacking ISIS

The Kurds (or Shia groups) aren't entering the city.

There is going to be some fiercesome fighting in a city??
Why not draw ISIS out to the country side???

Just hope not too many innocents caught up....and it's the beginning of the end for ISIS as bad as it was to go meddling in Iraq. ...they can't leave them a free rein

Saddam and Gaddafi don't deserve to go down in history as good people, it's an insult to their victims if nothing else.

Perhaps because ISIS aren't stupid enough to abandon a defendable position but too fanatical to surrender?

How would you draw them out? They're not going to march into the desert to be massacred from the air. It'll be an absolute bloodbath in there no doubt, look at the carnage in Aleppo and that's being going on for weeks. This will be like that and even worse.

What an utterly tragic situation this whole thing is.

Damned if you do, damned if you dont. Cant leave IS in control on any city, Village or town. Chase them back across the border into Syria. Wipe the scum out.

The Peshmerga are very brave people, they've been taking the fight to ISIS since day one even though ISIS were better armed than them.

Certainly not good people but better the devil you know. The world would feel much safer and more stable if they were still in charge of their respective countries.

By all reports most of the buildings are booby trapped with IEDs and possible chemical weapons most of the main roads and streets are mined .
They even have tunnels underground expect Fallujah on steroids from 10 years ago
