so finally got to hit up bull island today, the trip there was more exciting, porygon showed up on near by when was passing by temple bar, but as i was driving and my navigator only mentioned as it was disappearing of the sightings, it was left behind :(

    as for bull island itself, caught: 18 magicarp ,2 pikachu , 4 sandshrew, 1 squirtle, 2 ekans, 1 vulpix, 1 pinsir, 5 psyduck, 1 growlithe, 1 abra, 1 machop, 1 tentacool, 2 slowpoke, 1 magnemite, 2 shellder, 1 voltorb, 1 dragonair.

But on the way back, my navigator got it right and we found an aerodactyl!! had to take a small detour but was well worth the odd look we got from a guy cutting his lawn as myself, my son and brother were high fivin' each other after we all got it :D

Thinking about hitting dun laoghaire tomorrow :D

got to resupply on pokeballs and razzies on the way back through the city center, the place is like a gold mine, Shannon/Limerick sucks in comparison!

Speaking of new features, one thing I would like to see is some form of update on how your pokemon is doing in a gym, such as if he is under attack etc. Right now I am thinking of my two brave warriors in Airside retail park and Windy Arbour luas stop. I'd like to know the level that their gyms are at right now.

Dun Laoghaire was definitely worth the trip for me. Wonder could I convince the hubby to take a jaunt out to bull island tomorrow. If he drives, I can get all the pokestops on the way!

Ive been playing since launch day. Am doing just fine without using a scanner. Just hit level 26.

Had a nearby pokemon app my phone for about 2 weeks but it wasnt great, was better to just keep Pokemon Go open on my phone.

Never used a scanner, am lv 29 with 120 caught, and 2/3 more to evolve once I use my next lucky egg. I know a few lads who have caught 140+ now by using scanners religiously, I've enjoyed playing the game 'properly' tbh, and see no reason to cheat to find extra stuff, I don't see it as a harmful sort of cheating, but it is cheating all the same in my book, and would lessen the fun of the game for me, if I could just know exactly where stuff was all the time..

Who has time to walk around for hours on end in the hope of catching anything not a Pidgee? That works fine in Paris but not in a smaller town with no variety on the streets.
Are there people still playing in small towns in Ireland without a tracker?

My missus is from Mitchelstown so we end up heading there every so often at weekends. Small town but I have to say I've had some great catches there, walking around, doubling back on myself, just walking for a few hours on end. Caught plenty more then just pidgey and rattata.

I know its been asked a million times but what scanner are people using? I'm down to needing three and ive kinda lost interest in hunting for three, so may use a scanner to try find the three!

Have caught the odd squirtle or koffing passing through on the bus in the market centre place. Sometimes have enough time to take the gym there as well ;)

My kids insist on looking in every gym we pass, so now I have 6 new seen today. I really don't like having the seen/caught at different numbers :D especially as there are some that I'll probably never get.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 492 ✭✭CraigM84

yeah that is one big draw back, for the best part you will probably get all the pokemon that are in our region, but im dreading coming to a gym with a region locked pokemon in it, i dont see myself traveling to another country just to have my seen/caught at the same number :P

Going to Dun Laoghaire tomorrow for non-Pokemon reasons. Still though, I'll throw a Porygon, Tangela or Lickitung in a gym if I can to mess with your heads :)

They've banned all blackberries from playing now. I didn't know there were still people using blackberries but apparently there are a fair few

    Why have they been banned?

Same reason Chinese phones are banned I guess, Niantic's baby-with-the-bathwater approach to botting.

Cricket ISP users in the US are pretty much locked out for similar reasons. You would wonder at a company actively cutting out swathes of their user base and ignoring all questions about a still-missing release-day feature three months in. It's Producers-level farce.

I could not agree more, I've difficulty keeping track of what mon is in what gym. I'd love to be able to keep better track of my guys.

Oddly the seen thing would not both me at all.

I'm hitting the capital this week and should have a hour to spare. Where on the northside should be good, and is there anywhere in particular on Bull Island? Bear in mind what is commonplace in Dublin isn't in Donegal, so I'd happily take your dratinis (need to power up my dragonite) and bulbasaurs, or anything but drowzees, caterpies, weedles and eevees.

Bull Island will take more than an hour. Perhaps Merrion Sq (if you're in city centre) or Dun Laoghaire?

Probably don't have time to cross the Liffey but if the island is that good I'll make more time!

Down to my last 3 Pokemon to find/hatch after nearly 3-months....

I'd be interested to know if anyone else is waiting on just a few or one or two ?
Or even finished before Level 30 !

I'm on Level 29 with the following needed....

    (1) Charizard
    (2) Hitmonchan
    (3) Lickitung (escaped after 2 x Ultra balls and my partner caught it with 1 x RedBall)

PS - Porygon was the last caught (4)

Bulbasurs common in Dublin? Never seen a single one in the wild. Dratinis aren't that common either but there's occasionally an appearance along the quays and sometimes in Dublin Castle.

Half way through level 27 and I need 5 more:

Dragonite (very close, I'm on 97 candy at the moment)
    Venusaur
    Grimer
    Muk
    Kabutops

Avoid the gym at the Sacred Heart church on the Folly so - I stuck a Porygon in there this morning :)

That sounds like quite a handy list for the final-furlong,
most of them can eventually be your buddies ;)

I got Chansey from a 10km egg about 2-months ago....
Haven't seen or hatched another since !

I hate depending on a Pokemon you expect to get from an egg, as their computer also knows this and could keep you hanging.....

Let me know when you eventually get Chansey ?

    Cheers.
