Christmas

I have seen the Christmas boxes of sweets and biscuits in the shop.

This is so stupid. It's not even halloween yet. I hate Christmas so much.

I hate the Christmas party. I was told about it in August, what was I meant to say, I'm busy that night in the middle of December, four months in advance. But i don't want to go.

The lead up to Christmas lasts months. Christmas eve and everyone is in the shops as if it's the last day on earth and they're gonna run out of food.

Just f off with Christmas boxes of sweets. What would you be doing in September with them. Stocking up on boxes of shyte where you always have way more at Christmas than you usually do.

Then the jingle bells songs, day and night on the radio.

Am i the only one who hates Christmas.

What's worse is that the Christmas threads have already started. Hope you're happy OP.

I noticed Lidl in Coolock has a Christmas isle last night.

But worse than that, this morning at the junction of the Malahide Road and the N32 there were the usual charity collectors out ~ but this morning the fookers were dressed in Santa and elves costumes [in Spetember] ~ arseholes.

    I'm happy now.

But is there anywhere that doesn't celebrate Christmas. Preferably cheap to get to.

You've just contributed to the festive spirit, The Raptor.

I hope you're proud of yourself. /grinches, as it's still only September, dammit!

I will say though, the worst early-Christmas moment of what the hell I had was in a supermarket a few years back, where they were playing Christmas music...in late July.

I remember this as I paused and exclaimed in the middle of the shop "It's JULY!" in tones of bemused disbelief.

Couldn't agree with you more OP!!! I flipping hate that its out already.

Even my 7 yr old says "it's not even Halloween yet" when those bloody chrisas train ads come on the radio!!! So annoying!!!

Christmas is losing its appeal cause its just dragged out waaaaaay too long.

It should be banned until November 1st!!!!

I used to hate Christmas too... then I was visited by three spirits.

    Jameson, Bush and Teeling.

Are these advent calendars four months long now?

It won't be long until we hear The Fairytale of New York 15 times a day.

    That song is a pest.

I hate it too Raptor so you definitely aren't the only one.

Eldest daughter worked in Argos last year and she found it all so depressing, the hordes would arrive in the same time every week, obviously after getting the dole and daughter couldn't believe how badly behaved the children were and how much money was spent by the parents on absolute crap. The same parents are probably asking about Back to School allowance before the y have paid off the communion spending.

If you find somewhere cheap to go where I don't have to hear the Little Drummer boy for the nth time please post the destination,I am dreading Christmas this year.

ETA,The toffee wrapped in brown paper has been removed from the tin of Quality street so if anyone tries to pawn one of those off on me Im going to throw it back at them.

It's sad how comercialised it has become with the ads beginning so early. Takes all the good out of it.

People are just worn out by the time it finally comes around and can't wait for it to be over.

I love Christmas. Everything about it. The shopping, the cheesy gifts, the gaudy decorations, the dated songs, the overeating, the complaining about the quality of the chocolates in the tins, the cooking disasters, the squabbles, the togetherness, the parties, and especially the movies. From October to Christmas is my favourite time of year, I LOVE it. I love it even more since I moved away and get so little time with the family all together. It means a lot to me.

I'd have the tree up in October and down in March if I could get away with it.

Anyone who hates Christmas has no heart. It's the happiest time of the year, you know.

    "boughs of holly"...?

Or is it one of those misheard lyrics, "excuse me while I kiss this guy" scenarios?

My dad got one of those Christmas Homer things, you press his hand and he sings that line for a few minutes while doing a little dance.

I like those things too, but only for a couple of weeks in December. I'm just not able for 2 months of it.

I hate Christmas too. My dad died a couple days before Christmas Day. Now I spend my Christmas either alone or not belonging elsewhere. Christmas is completely stupid, people falling over themselves to buy presents for people they can't even spend a day with without fighting, being so ungrateful for the family time they have together.

I'm so sorry for your loss and I completely agree. Christmas is meant to be about spending time with the ones you love. A present to represent how grateful you are to them for being there for you or to show how much you care.

A woman I know has already gotten her childrens presents. All of which include ipads, the latest gadgets, action figures, and dolls. She spends about €1000 on each kid. It's ridiculous!!!

My children get to ask Santa for 1 toy and a surprise!!! Then they'll get something small from me and other half and the day will be spent with family talking playing games and having a good time. Maybe a few movies thrown in. That's what Christmas should be.

I love autumn and for that reason I dislike Christmas being imposed on the airwaves and in society so early. I just want to enjoy autumn and its stunning beauty, colour and vibrancy.

UAE for Christmas. Direct flights to Dubai. Muslim country, no Jesus in a manger. Bars open Christmas Day, great weather too. And a few camels in case the wise kings get lost.

Isn't there a town in Belgium that bans all mention of Christmas until two weeks beforehand ?
