People need to realise there's a difference between censorship and localisation.

Chalk and cheese really though. They're not mutually exclusive. Is removing swastikas in Wolfenstein for the German release localisation or censorship? I'd argue both.

Games are localised to fit the market they're going to be released in, but you could say that the removal of offending material for localisation is a form of self censorship.

Wow, there's a lot of carbon rod talk going on, I can only laugh, thankfully heard much worse from friends.

I don't get the appeal but if I hear it's awful sometimes I want to see how bad it is like Cho Aniki. Thought the witch touching game was worse than Gal Gun.

Change is super slow in Japan because you've got a bunch of old out of touch dudes still running everything and they won't retire because if they retired they'd have to go home and talk to a wife who is a complete stranger to them.

I'm all for boobs and boob related shenanigans. As long as those boobs are older than my Dreamcast.

Am I the only one who finds the whole thing a bit ridiculous? A drawing doesn't have an age, it's simply a depiction of something. If you render it busty you're pretty much drawing it as an adult, therefore severing links to it being underage

I like boobs I relate to, not the huge ones that defy gravity but the characters are always like 10 xD

HD TVs and classic gaming just do not go together.

Was playing Megaman 2 today on the classic collection. Ripping through it. Got to the first Wiley stage and just before the boss there's a section you have to jump along 1 tile blocks. It was a complete disaster. The laggy button input and not being able to judge my jump height because of the lag meant I had awful trouble getting past a bit I have down pat from muscle memory. went through 5 lives and game overed on that one bit :(

Heres a top tip for my fellow A&Ries who are on PSN.

If you are stupid enough to trust Sony with paypal or a credit card on your account (like I was), remove it now!

If you don't have 2 step verification enabled already, enable it now!

Otherwise at some stage you're account will likely be hacked, password changed locking you out of your account, and a sub account shall be created in total stealth by the hackers which Sony themselves wont even spot after a phone call, which cannot be removed be removed by you may I add.

And fraudalent purchsases shall be made. Which will result in a long investigation from Sony, and your account is likely to be banned during that investigation.

Charge back on paypal or on your credit card I hear you suggest?
Oh, sony dont like that either which results as a permaban on your account as they conveniently put it in their licensing agreement which of course we have all read word for word when singing up. ;)

If anyone cares to know the full details of what happened me, its in the PS4 Megathread 3.0 in the Playstation forum.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057389909

    TLDR?

Sony like to victimise victims of fraud.

I assume you googled your tv model to see if it has the low lag option in a sub menu somewhere. Usually called Game Mode, but most definitely now always and can be hidden away (some tv's have "PC" option that works well). If it doesn't have a low lag or a real game mode then make sure as many of the screen processing settings are turned off.

It's not a TV, it's a pretty low latency PC monitor and a very high quality one as well. Even on this monitor the added lag is nasty :( It could be the game either, it's the megaman legacy collection so might give the famicom with framemeister a go.

    Here's a thing.
You complained of the same lag on the GC/PS2 MegaMan collection.
Could it the same code with the same flaw?

The Megaman Anniversary Collections are just coded by monkeys with some awful emulation in place. It's actually not laggy just innaccurate and 'off'. The anniversary collection's coding is well documented. Capcom is apparently of the opinion that emulation is illegal so the developer had to recode every game from scratch in C using what source code they code find or just analysing how the game works. It's definitely a lag issue from somewhere here, there's about a half second of lag making judging of jumps difficult but more so it affects how high you jump as you have less control over how long you hold down the jump button.

Next time you're at mine for Beers I'll have to get you to try the PS2 copy, I'm still sure that it's decent and, according to reports, it's the GC version that has all the issues.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,809 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Both are as bad as each other, the main issue with the GC one was the buttons being swapped which is sacrilegious. Even watching the speed runs at SGDQ at the megaman runs all the runners talked about was how bad the Anniversary collection was especially with the lag and slowdown it introduced that isn't in the original. In some of the games they even cut content out of them for no reason.

Well played there. Although I do have a pretty big complaint about Nintendo treehouse's current localisations. They've way too many references to memes that will age like a carton of milk left behind the radiator. Nintendo Europe have been a lot better in recent years.

I think I know a poster on the Nintendo forum like that.
He claims that he is all about Nintendo, loves Nintendo games and consoles, to the exclusion of everything else, but whose posts tend to be nothing but critical of the company and it's products.
    Bizarre
