Dear gods, that is the US version of the mk1 Mazda 323!

    Edit:
A real Ford Meteor advert, from Australia... even less convincing than the spoof one!

Sure was the redesigned 323! and it was only called the meteor in Australia, which it really strange

So...anybody else pay over the odds with postage and US Sales tax just to get the Sonic Mania Collector's Edition?

    I know someone who did...

Can you please PM me details of this move? When was it, where was it to and from and what exactly broke. Any other details you can give would be appreciated such as how the movers responded etc.

Ah was about 3 years ago now. Accidents can happen, but it only really bugged me because the guy demanded a tip.

This sounds very odd. I can't think of any of the guys I've used who would demand a tip and this is certainly not how I'd want them behaving

Can you please PM me your details (name, email address, phone number, address) or anything else that would allow me to check back on the job? :)

Well he said he'd knock a tenner off the price for the damage, but then that it was expected that he'd normally get a €10 tip.

I was in a rush at the time and didn't feel like getting in an argument about it as it wasn't particularly expensive furniture and just wanted to know how much I owed. Moving is stressful enough and didn't need the hassle.

Not much more to add, next time I moved I just used vanquotes.ie.

Again this sounds very odd, it's never expected to get a tip, tips are sometimes given, but definitely never expected and I can't think who it may have been that would say such a thing, I haven't had that many guys and I know them all pretty well.

I know I've asked twice already, but if you could please PM me some details so I can at least check the job out it would be appreciated as I've nothing to go on as it is. I've searched previous jobs for keywords like arcade, game etc but nothing stood out. I'm the only one who would have taken the booking so it would had to have been arranged by me in the first place.

Mod Edit: possibly defamatory comment deleted from post

To reword what I wrote that got edited, many sites which have van operators sign up to bid on jobs don't have very stringent vetting processes for the likes of insurance cover and general legitimacy so it's good to keep this in mind if using such sites.

Went to see Akira in Cineworld last night, my favourite film since I was a kid and it's taken me this bloody long to see it on the big screen

Was absolutely incredible hearing the soundtrack for the first time played through a cinema's Dolby surround. I've listened to it so many times but have never been absolutely engulfed by it on that kind of scale.

Man. Wish I'd known about that. Have only ever seen it on the 'big' screen in the IFI and that was in screen 2.

Yeah it didn't seem to be very well advertised. I only found out about it through a mate.

Was to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Manga Entertainment. Hopefully they'll show Urutsukidoji next. :pac:

What's the story with the bookclub showing of Dune?
I'm interested in bringing Cidonalad to it but not sure of the format of the evening.
The event is scheduled to begin at 18:30 but is there then readings from the book?
If rather just attend the film itself, leave the Frank Herbert love in to the others.
Fyi, I preferred The Jesus Incident and the other WorShip series books myself.
    Nerverunners, nasty little gits

Gods damn it, 45 euro yesterday and 47 euro today in customs charges (both packages from the US)
The guy says they're checking a lot more now and have hired more people work on that side of things.

I think they're going to watch the film and then discuss the book afterwards in the bar?

Would quite like to go and watch it myself as it's another one I've yet to see in a cinema, but don't want to be sitting through discussion.

On a side point, have you ever watched the unofficial extended version? I've had it sitting there for ages and have still not yet gotten around to it. Think it clocks in at 3-4 hours long!

Why would you inflict the Dune film on a young child?

Because, despite it's flaws, it has a lot to say and looks fantastic.
    A bit like me!

I haven't seen that edition, no.
Sounds like an ordeal alright, though might be a pleasurable one!

Pity then, that an opportunity is lost.

A viewing of the film followed by a couple of hours playing the Amiga/Megadrive game Dune II!

Was just reading up on the production of Dune II, I didn't realize that they actually relied on Herzog Zwei for so many ideas.

DirMaster is a Windows-based GUI application designed to help Commodore enthusiasts explore and manage their disk image collections. DirMaster supports common (and uncommon) emulator disk image formats (such as .d64, .d81, .d2m, etc), almost every native Commodore archival format (such as .arc, .sda, .lnx, etc), and many native graphic formats (such as koala, doodle, amica, etc). DirMaster was designed to give users a perfect blend of familiar appearance (e.g. natural looking disk image contents using the PETSCII character set) and modern GUI functionality (e.g. drag and drop, opening multiple disk images at once). The first version of DirMaster was released in 2006.
