will the basic v6 one do the job?

e.g. getting dust out of carpeted stairs? hardfloors?

I got the basic V6 a few weeks ago for cleaning my apartment (mixture of hard floors and carpet) and car. I went for the basic model because the other models were outside of my budget.

So far I've been very happy with the basic V6 model. It collected far more dust and dirt from the floors than our last vacuum cleaner did. And I used to keep the floors pretty clean anyway! :)

My only gripes are that the bin that collects the dirt is pretty small, but I assume it's the same size across all models. And the motorised head cleaner is pretty small also, and hair can get trapped in it easily. I'm not sure if the cleaner heads for any of the other models are much bigger.

For me though, the basic V6 does the job.

Ordered a juicer from them recently enough and from what I recall the delivery price to NI was the same as it was to ROI so didn't use PM.
Current shipping price is £14.95 for standard.

but the shipping box size would probably mean that addresspal (an post) would charge 25 euro as it would be classed as an over-size item.
anyone know if the box for the v6 is longer than 72cm (28.3 inches)? (can't find the shipping dimensions anywhere).

    http://stores.ebay.ie/Dyson-Outlet

Delivery is free but appears to be UK only

I really need to get one of these. We have 2 Labradors and I really should vacuum downstairs twice a day. It's such a rigmarole getting our corded vacuum from under the stairs, then our toddler tries to grab the cord
Could anyone advice the best one to get please? I want it instead of a sweeping brush if that even makes sense? We have our Dyson since 2007, it's not an animal one but it's great :) I plan on using it once a week for a proper vacuum. I have used a cordless Dyson on holidays (no dogs) and tbh didn't find it anywhere as good as our Dyson. The charging is annoying :(

    Thanks a million.

If there is an issue with it and it has to be returned (broken as oppose to change of mind), can you return it to dyson ireland, or do you have to pay to return it to dyson uk? Do you know is the warranty covered for the republic seeing as they don't deliver to the republic?

I got a refurb from there about 2 years ago, perfect nick when I got it and still going strong...I'll buy from there again

Mine was refurbished and there are a couple of small marks on the unit itself. But was perfectly clean and all other parts looked unused.
It was missing power supply, called Dyson UK and they shipped one to my Irish address, didn't have to go via Parcel Wizard which I used for original address.

I got the following reply from the ebay team after I pointed out that their warranty covers the EU, which put me off buying :-(

"The information you've found are referred to items purchased on the website.
Unfortunately Dyson guarantees for items purchase on Dyson eBay Outlet cover normal usage of a Dyson machine in the country in which it was purchased. If you take a machine abroad the guarantee will be invalidated.
Maybe you can find this link helpful: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/dysonoutlet/pages/terms-and-conditions"

I ended up getting the Total Clean from dyson.ie directly though for €350, which beats the curry's price by €50, and includes free delivery.

Wouldn't take much from that statement from Dyson.
EU law over-rides that with minimum of 2 years for electronics good bought anywhere in the EU.

I have the DC44 and power isn't the problem - its the head getting clogged up hair etc all the time, and the fact it just pushes bigger pieces of stuff around on the wooden floor.

Does the V6 fix any of these issues, I wonder? Is the head better?
OK. I'm trying really hard now to not post some juvenile nonsense about more powerful suction and better head.

    You're not making it easy.

    :(

Not applicable in the UK or Ireland. They didn't enable the 2 years, you have to take a case to the SCC.

Just be aware that the battery on these needs to be changed about every 2 years. Will be about €60 each time

    Sorry for bit off topic.

I know that this legal protection in UK is valid for 6 years (and I think 5 years in Scotland) - but does Ireland also extend it?

Just ordered a V6 there from the Dyson ebay outlet - was €185 at today's exchange rate, which included delivery to N.Ireland/Parcel Wizard. So hopefully under €190 delivered to the door.

is that the same as the V6 animal - but without the attachment?

The Animal has a pet hair filter I think:

The other V6's were beyond what I was willing to pay, but the one I got comes with attachments and motorised head anyway.
