Wow how did that happen? Must have been an awful sight to witness for the lady and her uncle.

Sounds like he must have been high or drunk or something. No way you could fall over those barriers without climbing up on them or summat.

To be fair, they're only stomach height from what I recall, you could easily try to sit on one and go over the edge.

It does seem unlikely to be a straightforward accident though.

RIP to the man whatever happened.

Poor man. No matter what the circumstances were, he is dead and his family must be in bits.

Not nice dying like that in front of so many onlookers either, they must be traumatised too.

    Awful event.

There is the possibility of suicide although its an unlikely modem given that the height isn't so great as to guarantee death.

According to one commenter on the journal who claims to have withnessed it says he jumped :(

So, are we going to keep crassly speculating based on a complete lack of information, or are we going to patiently wait until more information is forthcoming, or indeed accept that maybe there won't be any public announcements as to why this poor man ended up tragically losing his life?
RIP to him, and condolences to his family.

Wondering how someone died is a natural thing people question. As long as it's in a respectful way it's ok.

Anyways rip. A horrible way to go.

TBH I have a hard time believing anyone on that site. Worst comments section anywhere by miles and sad that deaths and the likes are full of bickering idiots about who's 'red thumbing' their RIP posts

I can't look at it whenever there's a tragic story like this

I must say I find it quite bizarre that they kept the shopping centre open while his body was lying there. Cordoned off or not that's not something you'd expect the shopping centre to Stay open through

A work colleague in our office witnessed it, came back pretty ashen faced. He's sure the guy jumped.

Oh man that's awful. I'm in there nearly every day but today I read a book in a cafe instead. Condolences to his family.

You start rushing people out and panicking them more incidents could happen

Thank God nobody else died from him landing on them.

Yep, I don't dispute that, but speculating on a chat forum, particularly about suicide etc is pretty damned insensitive at this early stage.
It's bad enough for his family as it is, without having to field speculation as to his mental wellbeing, fuelled by such rather public speculation.

This type of insensitive and voyeuristic thread sickens my stomach.

A lot of media outlets are not covering it for obvious reasons. Horrible for all involved - the man, his family, those who witnessed the incident.

    Yet here you are?

To see a news item not insensitive, unfounded speculation from voyeurs.

And then to leave... until you quote me with a smart pass comment.

With respect Samreen you came onto the thread, didn't like it, said so and left. Yet you've arrived back again.

    Doesn't make sense.

Once again in ireland we sweep things under the carpet and treat things as accidents and sad events.

The real reason won't be reported on never mind how many eye witnesses there were.

Because we don't talk about that stuff here.

    Taboo.....

You'd be surprised. A guy I know was driving under the bridge over the Naas road that goes from the Luas depot to the monastery road when a woman jumped off the bridge in front of him. It seems way too low for that, but you never know whats going through peoples head.
