Well done on getting through that difficult period in your lIfe. It must of been particularly tough on you all.
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I have some idea of what you were going through as I had similar ideas a few years as well. Partly cos of money (lack of:(), partly my own health, partly this, partly that. No one reason - just life in general. Had method of suicide figured out and all and came very close to on a couple of occasions:eek:
Don't really know how I got through it all but it was mainly down to a few friends who noticed I was 'not my normal self' cos I was at the stage that I thought being depressed was normal. There was one @$$$/ *^$## scumbag who saw the way I was and was trying to be my friend but was trying to undermine me further. Didn't know at time but they had done this on people before me and I know they have done it on people since.
But that was then, this is now and while things aren't always rosey and bright they are infinitely better than they once were.
All I saying is if you find yourself in similar positions talk to GENUINE friends ( or even the dog as I often did:o) but talk to someone. Don't talk to yourself.

But what if there are no genuine friends

There are genuine strangers Reggie. It's just lads find it difficult to approach professionals for help.
My two cents, cause that's all it's worth, is not to think things over at four in the morning, get up and make coffee, tidy the kitchen, paint the bathroom, anything except lie in the bed worrying.

Go to the Doctor, thats what I did just talking about it to someone-even if they weren't listening- took a big weight off my shoulders. Got a script for meds, never used it but knew it was there if I did

A good councillor/therapist. Have used one myself when sh*t hit the fan a few years ago. Typical man thought it a waste of money in beginning but sorted me out. It worked for me but mightn't be a solution for everyone.

Had a lovely Belgian blue calf born on monday. Noticed he wasn't himself yesterday and got vet to have a look when he was here last night. Meningitis. Never saw it in a calf as young. He's alot better this morning. Typical it wouldn't happen to a friesian bull

Great that you spotted it so early or it could be a different story. Fair play! Hopefully he makes a full recovery.

Other than ground being awful soft all over here there is a serious growth of fresh soft watery grass everywhere.. We're similarly stocked to last year but definitely more grass growing. Can see alot of it being wasted before its grazed.

Oh, and lots of rush growth too !

One cow was roaring most of the day today, thought it very strange and every time I went down she just roared non-stop at me.
Just figured it out, her elder was covered in muck from the slats and the calf wouldn't suck so she was hard with milk, cleaned her off and he ran straight to suck and her standing there with a big smug head on her as if to ask why I hadn't it noticed it earlier :D:D

Not looking good for pat hickey in Brazil.
The judge has accepted the charges against him. It could take a year and a half for the court case to finish.

Talking to anyone is great. I have to say I have a reasonably stressful off farm job meeting a lot of youngsters who would have been almost better had they never been born. I come home to a farm where I get to forget it all. Then I get stress on the farm at times and go to work and realise that my problems are not stress at all compared to some.
The benefit of off farm employment is more than economic. It gets you meeting people and putsit all into perspective at times as well as giving you people to bounce things off. It does also reduce the income dependency on the farm, which can seriously reduce stress too. I also find running to be a tremendous stress reliever and a great head space to work things out. Whatever works.

Ha! Ah no he won't be in prison when the trial is going on. When his two passports have been seized he won't be leaving the country.

All cows done with Zanil, first time using a hook drencher and it is the biz! Funnily enough it's easier to do the wilder cows with it as the quieter/cute hoors just duck the head under the one in front. Wilder ones conveniently put their heads up on the ones in front :D

I have no power in these situations. And I'll be left with the child while she goes looking at orange pillows.
