Wow. So a Male teacher. take a photo for end of year folder and your worried.
I wouldn't have an issue with that.
In a world where camera have been replaced by Smart phone i would have more of an issue if the teacher brought in a high def camera to take the photo.
    That would be weird..
If it was a female teacher would you have an issue with It??

She would still need consent. A new teacher mightn't be aware of this, but written consent from the parents is needed before taking photos of their kids.

I'd have to echo the above if it was a female teacher would you have an issue?
I have taken thousands of pics of my class working for project work, at tours, school events and so on. There is nothing nefarious going on and I'm sure you're child's teacher is the same. Leave him alone and let him do his job without having to worry about helicopter parents scrutinising his every move.

What rights have been violated in your opinion?

Which is asked for when the child is enrolled day one.

I wouldnt be jumping to complaining. I mean it was a group photo. Nothing else...

Absolutely outrageous that it would be pointed out that it was a male teacher, as opposed to a female teacher. It was mentioned that the teacher asked that the children would not look at the camera, yet because it was a male teacher, there would have to be some outrageous slant put to it. Absolutely sexist and discriminatory.

just wondering, a new male teacher in all girls school was taking pictures of the class doing work in his mobile phone. He told them not to look at the camera and that it was for the end of year folder. I never received a consent form for him to use his personal phone to take pictures. Is this not against the rights of the child?

What relevance is the gender of the teacher, and why do you state it?

You will surely have signed a consent form when your child was enrolled allowing their photo to be taken. How do you know that the device the teacher took the photo with was not a school owned device. Some schools are buying mobiles for teachers for use in school such as for going to matches/trips or to negate the need for children to be sent on note dropping jobs in school.

Sorry but your specific point was that it was a young male teacher. No point in backtracking now,. It was an utterly outrageously sexist thing to say.

    Not young... Old...

I ask you again. What are the rights of your child which you allege have been violated?

Do you post pictures of your child on your social media accounts?

Aarrrggghhh this is why I am starting to dislike my job. "Public enemy number one"

What a sick thread! There is no justification for singling out a new male teacher like you have done. You need only look at the number of people who have thanked those who have disagreed with you. I'm afraid you are very much on your own here. I have to agree with the others who think your views are appallingly discriminatory and I'd go as far as saying that they are disturbingly and suspiciously warped.

I hope you can't look him straight in the eyes again. The perverted stuff you've been assuming.

Might not be appropriate to the op. But a valid point. It's fine if 'you' invade your child's privacy and put it up for public consumption.

Grasping at straws by the O.P., I would think, trying to make a late clarification that the 'new, male teacher' was actually 'old'. Pathetic grasping at straws when there is clearly no justification for the stance he has taken, which is clearly discriminatory against this 'new' teacher, who just happens to be male (sadly for him).

This thread and the op disgust me. This attitude boils my blood. I have been called a paedophile several times in my career all because I am a male teacher. No basis whatsoever, just some people in this world equate the two to being one. I have threatened legal action upon someone for it and actually regret not going through with it. This perverted attitude against males as educators needs to stop.

I would hate to be in charge of young children in today's society- guilty by gender
