Not ship to parcel motel. Tried before and had my order cancelled. Really annoying because they do decent deals now and again.

What about An Post's Address Pal which is similar to Parcel Motel but use a Mainland UK address?

Worth a try, if it works can you post in this thread ?

question lads, im having issues with running my ram at advertised speeds. If i turn xmp profile on my pc will turn itself on and off a few times before it boots up properly, but it seems to boot up with the ram at the correct speeds (3200mhz). ive tried using a deature on my mobo called "memory try it" that has presets for samsung, hynix and one other manufacturer, hynix setting 3200mhz works just like xmp, few on and offs before startup.

motherboard is an msi pro gaming carbon z170 and ram is corsair vengence led 3200mhz

I'd guess it could be using "memory training",look for memory fast boot and set it to enabled.
You dont need to use xmp either as you can just input speed/timings and volts manually if that helps.

enabled fast boot but no joy, same issue. I wonder is it dangerous to my components? If not it doesnt really bother me

The XMP profile probably does not work for your CPU as it is rated for 2133MHz RAM.
    http://ark.intel.com/products/88195/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_20-GHz

So you will probably have to enter in the details in bios manually as was said above.

any idea if theres any guides/help for doing this? i can overclock cpus/gpus but ram timings etc. is beyond me yet

Do you have an overclock on your CPU at the moment?
If you do try running it at stock and see does the XMP work. Your overclock might be destabilising your memory controller.

Over clocking RAM is simple enough, go on your manufacturers website get the timings for your exact RAM and enter them in.

Sorry I cannot be more specific I never seen your bios so I do not know where all the settings go.

i have msi's gaming mode enabled, 4.4, cant enable xmp at the same time though, might manually overclock cpu to 4.4 and turn xmp on and see what happens

Just looked at that bargain thread. Those 970 and 980 are really damn cheap. Looks like 1080p ultra and okay 1440p gaming got really affordable.

Damn, they got even 980ti for 299£!!! I payed 280£ for 1060! I was forced to buy it in a rush as old gpu died. Gutted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

I dunno. My 970 struggled with quite a few things. Hence why I got the 1070.

3.5gigs of vram was the 970's biggest issue, great card when it came out though

Was tempted by the prices but i hate buying older tech

Well 970 more for 1080p, where's 980 would give a good wee go at 1440p. Comfortably, not ultra settings.

980ti for 299£ is great value. I know it's older tech, but it's still a lot of Raw power there. Almost tempting to buy it and put my gpu for sale by taking a minor financial hit.

And it's gone!!! I was surprised I manged to put my reply in. Mods are not a sleep, can't post "bread" yet. :D

I actually did speced at pcspecialist a pc for ****s and giggles to try and match it.

    Fx6300
8gb ram ( Ddr3, no ddr4 option, I wonder was it even ddr4 in actual machine)
    1to hdd
    rx470 ( it was 380)
    550w psu
Case ( not cheapest option, 50 quid one, just to be fair)
    Windows 10

All came up to 806eu, which is about 680£. His machine was 650£, but with way worse gpu. So we would anyone buy a pc from shady website which is worse, takes ages to build. Idea was to be cheaper then pcspecialist?

Anyway, was funny. I got my fun, that's all that matters.

If mods think that we should not discuss it here anymore, then fair enough. :)

Yes I am, good sir. *Fixes his hat, cleans his monocle and sips a cup of Earl Grey tea.

Jokes aside, some fella just shhhneakaly put up a thread of his pc building website and most of us shredded it in to pieces, then it got deleted.

Jesus my 5820k is fecking to well made.
I bought the Intel tuning plan for it last year in case I damaged it due to silly volts. Its not a great overclocker so i decided to try degrade it with high volts and send it back as the newer revisions seem to be better clockers.
Well after 2 weeks at 1.6vcore plus very high cache and input volts the cpu is still perfect and still passes all benches/stress tests

Looks to have been a break down in relations with the crew over at Tek Syndicate. Split in the camp.

Pitty I enjoyed their content most of the time.

With the GTX970, 980 and 980Ti steadily dropping in prices it will be interesting to see over the next while how prices adjust on adverts. So far, sellers generally refusing to drop to match brand new prices.

    Yeah i noticed that.
A guy that bought a 2nd hand 970 off Serephucus recently is selling his 960 for more than he paid for the 970 :P

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

The funny thing is that the GTX960 dropped hugely in price, but has now increased again while GTX970 has dropped - maybe trying to clear out the 970, not sure, but on OCUK right now the cheapest 960 is 40 pounds more than it was a while back, and more expensive than the cheapest GTX970's!

Problem with adverts.ie and majority of sellers that they set the prices of items depending on how much they payed for it and not current market price for it. It works for some items, but holy **** it never ever worked for pc parts and equipment.
When you point it out, they just get angry and call you a time waster or report you for abuse.
Then you have a special snow flakes who sell items for same price or few quid less, then it cost to buy brand new with warranty.
There are some people who do get a grasp of it, but it's minority.

Then again, people who are here regulars know that already. I said nothing new.
