I was thinking of Kabuto but I appreciate you jumping in there with the correction all the same :)

I evolved ten new things yesterday, evolved my growlithe that was a 100% and amazingly it evolved into a beast, I've fully powered it up and it and it's now sitting in a gym in the ifsc at 2259 cp!
I'm at 122 out of 123 seen, havent seen a victrebell since he crashed the game on me!
I have a few that are less than ten candies away from an evolve, but I'm at the stage now where I don't see myself adding to the pokedex anytime soon!
I'm about fifteen K away from level 26

Nice, I'm level 26 and only at 114 in the pokedex.

Brutal lunchtime hunting. 12/14 Pidgees escaped, nothing spawned. The only things I caught were a one ball Eevie and a one ball 1200CP Pinsir, which I have no use for.

    Still 1500 from levelling up.

How did that many Pidgeys escape? Sounds like a soft-ban mate.

Does a soft ban let you catch Pinsir though? There no rhyme or reason to the catch algorithm.

Made it up 2 st caterines park finally. Alot of Growlite. Nting to big cp wise. But got 3 700+ evee which was wirth d trip.

I'm more surprised you found that many pidgeys in what I'm guessing is an hour, I only find 1 or 2.

After reading several of your posts I don't understand how you have such trouble catching Pokemon. How do you throw the ball?

If the pinsir was the first thing you caught could be a soft ban, especially if they ran after every first throw, but in saying that the server definitely was acting up walked out the door caught a bellsprout then 2 mins later everything on my sightings disappeared and nothing was added to the egg after I reset it twice.

I hear ya but what made me think softban was the 12/14 number you mentioned. I've read numerous posts whereby after about the 11th/12th "escapee", the game would let you catch 1 or 2 and then the same cycle would repeat.

I am havin the same problem, I caught a vulpix and a bell sprout beside trinity at lunch, every single other rat and pidgey that showed up, (at least six of each) escaped and fled! I even used a raspberry and an ultra on a god damned 50cp rat, escaped fled, yet caught both the bell sprout and vulpix first time!

I've tried a few ways but generally just lob it up the middle. About 20% of them are going way up into the sky at the minute and the rest are mostly hitting the target but all the vermin is escaping and fleeing. In 40 minutes I encountered 21 Pokemon, all but four of whom escaped, and those ones were a 10CP rat, 350CP Eevie and 1200CP Pinsir.

There are some mons I just can't hit though. Golbat, Muk, some other flying thing I forget. I can't get the ball to go high or deep enough, unless I get that quarterback lob that is too high for anything.

The most consistent mons are Magikarp and Mr. Mime who tend to take the same number of shots to catch each time.

Also I appreciate Abra. He'll waste at most one ball.

Pidgeot is the bane of my existence! Spin, lob, feckin' balls all over the place and 90% of the time I miss. I just gave up on those 'mons as they're generally crap! If I encountered a Muk, however, I'd probably cry as I'd no doubt not be unable to capture it since it'd be too far :(

Guys, seriously, learn to throw a curve ball. One or two curveballs with a regular pokeball usually are enough to capture most things. Throws are more consistent too.

That said, every now and again there a Pidgey who flees razzas and Great balls anyways...

That's probably your issue. I always use a curve ball and 9 times out of 10 get a "Great" throw and seem to have much better success particularly with Squirtles and Pikachus. I find it much easier to throw a curve ball then straight up the middle too. Maybe try switching to curve balls?

I have noticed it's become harder to catch Pidgeys, Weedles and Rats whilst other Pokemon have become easier (including Caterpie) but I wouldn't have as many fleeing as other people are reporting. I definitely think the way to go is curve ball and aim for "Nice", "Great" or "Excellent".

Nice is right. I'm 26 and have only 105 in the dex

I tried curveball for half a day but it gave no noticeable improvement in terms of escape rate and a made me miss more due to the circle disappearing in the time it takes to wind it up.

I'm not sure I've ever tried to catch a Pidgeot actually. There's no real point. Same with Golbat , I may have caught one but it was a fluke.

Muk was a tense affair. Ultra after ultra bobbling up to his 'feet' and finally a great ball landed and he stayed in first time. I may have screeched in delight. I discovered that spot is a bit of a goldmine, right outside where my wife used to work. It's been robbed twice and flooded since she left so an not keen on being seen loitering :D

Hatched one of my three ten K eggs at lunch, eevee, which I'm still ok with, the other two should pop on my walk home..... Hopefully it'll be something new.... I doubt it!

I could not agree more, Mrs Diemos is level 24 and still just does a straight throw up the middle, she gets far more jump outs than I do and goes through away more balls on a big hunt.
I find the curveballs way more accurate, plus you get 10 xp extra for each throw.

Blastoise, Charmeleon, Charizard, Pikachu, Raichu, Sandslash, Nidoqueen, Nidoking, nine tails, vileplume, dugtrio, primape, arcanine, Alakazam, Machoke, Machamp, Victreebell, Tentacruel, graveller, gollem, rapidash, magneton, Seel, dewgong, cloyster, gengar, Onix, electrode, eggsecrutor, marowak, Hitmonchan, rhydon, gyardos, Lapras, amonistar, Kabuto, kabutops, aerodactyl, Snorlax, dragonite.

Bit of a way to go. Only graveller is close from that lot. Tentacruel should be doable.

The white circle doesn't disappear unless they attack and if they do just keep spinning the ball it will return when they are finished. When the coloured circle reaches its smallest radius it then goes back to its biggest.

419 eggs hatched, finally got a Doduo from a 5km today! Still no Porygon, Grimer or Lickitung though :(

I caught a porygon in Belfast a couple of weeks ago. The expert in my house says they're rare!

Lv 26, only caught 96, I dunno how in the name of god some of you have 120+ as 10k eggs go, I've only hatched 2 pinsir, 2 hitmonlee, 1 snorlax, 2/3 eevee, maybe an electabuzz and a jynx. Slim pickings I'm afraid.. Never had a hitmonlee, then my last two 10k's were him, the 4 before have been either jynx or Eevee, absolutely no craic..

You can spin the ball a few times and then just hold your finger on the screen waiting for a good time to throw, the ball will keep spinning. Once I discovered that my catch-ratio went up a good bit. Just like Kavrocks I get a "great" 9 times out of 10 so the 160 xp instead of just 100 makes a good bit of difference. I haven't been able to hit "excellent" with any consistency unfortunately.

Saw my first Mr Mime today, and when I clicked him got an error, he disappeared and a rattata appeared instead. Fair swap

Wasted a load of ultras trying to get a fecking pidgeot that was barley anymore CP than the one I evolved. I wish I wasn't so stubborn sometimes. The kicker was I switched to great balls and caught him on the second one. This game... sometimes I wonder. Do berries and better balls and excellent throws actually do anything or is it all some horrible placebo joke.

My other two ten K hatched into another bleeping onix and another bleeping electrobuzz, actually closed the game walking home after that!
