Poor taste bad timing maybe rethink the headline.Im not offended but family of the deaths in Cavan might not be happy with it

It would make no sense to crack jokes about the All-Ireland hurling final in October though, so the joke kinda had to be made today...

I remember the outrage when they had a black guy selling drugs even though there were drug dealers on other Waterford Whispers stories who were white.

It's only you who thinks it's about them, the rest of us see it for what it is , a joke !!!

But you can see the point on how that's not really logical. You can't be outraged by proxy...or vicariously... Is the cool term now "White Knighting"? I don't know any more!

I fail to see any correlation at all to the Cavan deaths?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,164 ✭✭✭Butters1979

The only "click bait" I see is the OP's fake outrage thread.

If a person cant see the bad taste in this i guess boards has become more like the joe.ie banter clickbait crowd than i thought.Im deffo not offended but not nice for anyone connected to the deaths this week to see

To be honest I think it because most on boards have gotten sick of the whole being offended by every little thing

The link is very tenuous all right.

    But from this article...

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/sep/03/funeral-for-suspected-murder-suicide-hawe-family-takes-place-in-cavan

    ...mirrors the method.

So when would that headline be ok? Next week? Next month? Next year? What the expiry date on offence?

I don't think it's acceptable to highlight a news story by a satire Facebook page with a lot of followers ,some are children also,Facebook isn't regulated ..so they should really think about or even if it entered the editors mind about the suffering and heart ache the people of Cavan are going through at the time ..headlines that resemble comments of an actual event are not acceptable ..how long does it take to get over the death of a child Orion ?

Best not put anything online again so for fear of offending someone. What's worse than people being offended is those who are offended for them.

Yes I'm offended and yes I'm human and I don't think it's right but I will see the editor tomorrow and share why I'm offended with with him

I'm sure you'll set him straight anyway.

Fortunately, people who produce quality satire are unlikely to care about your righteous indignation.

Maybe they were referring to the children hacked to death in Zimbabwe in May, or 64 hacked to death in Congo three weeks ago.

Or maybe it was nothing to do with any of these atrocities and you just need to get over yourself. Or is it only bad when you can relate it to a local incident and not some darkies over there somewhere.

As Ricky Gervais said - "Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right".

    Not entirely true

The title of the article in question on WWN is a bit misfortunate ...not particularly offended or anything, but the article is not very clever or funny either... which kinda begs the question, why was it even published ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 635 ✭✭✭Ladyinthedark

It's not the first time ,but if your unaware of that that's not your fault

To capitalise on interest at peak GAA season, obviously.

It would be helpful if you quoted the posts you're replying to. As it is your replies make no sense. Pretty much like your objection.
