Well this is a bit mad but fair play to the lad, he's doing well for himself:

Conor McGregor to star in Call of Duty Infinite Warfare

Not a big fan of them games myself but I wonder what kind of part he'll have in it?

Except the bit that counts the most - the money. I don't think it should, or will happen, but don't think it can be completely dismissed.

Thing is though he probably wouldn't ''kill'' hm. He'd grind out a decision win like he has for his last 5 or 6 fights.

And in a promotion where a 0-0 pro wreslter can get a fight, anything can happen.

I don't think he would need to grind out a decision against Conor though, he is a proper WW, not a blown up LW, he would be much the bigger man and that would be telling I feel.

    Exactly.

I think Nick Diaz is the only fight Conor will ever take at 170 in his career and even then I think it'll just be a money fight. I see it happening down the line only because of the whole Diaz crew rivalry, especially so if he beats Nate at '55. There won't be a 4th fight and so the only we to reignite all that stuff would be to bring Nick into the frame.

GSP vs Nick is a fight I could see happening though. I think all that talk from Nick about how he believes he was drugged before the Montreal fight might have been in an effort to get people thinking about a rematch.

Sorry, just couldn't see GSP getting a finish or even achieving total domination over McGregor. If people like Jake Shields, Koscheck and Thiago Allves can take GSP to a decision, then McGregor can too. He(GSP) would probably win I feel but not in as dominating a fashion as some would believe.

Dont know what you mean about overblown LW either really. Unless you are referring to Nate Diaz? To be fair, Diaz was always more of a WW competing at LW rather than a LW competing at WW that one time. Much in the same way that Conor McGregor's ''natural'' division is LW, Diaz's would be WW IMO.

Besides, as surprised as I would be to see the fight happen in the first place, I would be even more surprised to see it happen at 170.

Gsp said he can make 155
It would have to be at 155 anyways even Conor knows that

In the same vein, if Mendes was able to exert such control over Conor on such short notice I can only imagine what someone like GSP would do.

Nate has always been a LW, he is now 30/31 and is naturally becoming heavier but other then his height he is not built for WW, put him next to Robbie who is smaller in height and see the difference, Nate has never been a true WW and the fight would have been originally made at LW if he had more time to prepare. It was basically a LW fight without the limit, both men would have weighed in probably the same on fight night as they did, or very close to it anyway.
Besides, as surprised as I would be to see the fight happen in the first place, I would be even more surprised to see it happen at 170.

If the exhibition fight does happen it could be at anything from 155-170, I would not be surprised to see the fight happen, but I have no doubt Conor will not be looking for many (if any!) fights at 170 again, he just doesn't have the physicality for it, not against the genuine WW of the division.

There are weight classes for a reason.

Mendes fought an emaciated version of McGregor, GSP would be fight a much healthier and bigger McGregor.

Mednes fought the McGregor who had swept all before him at 145 and did so again KO'ing the long reigning champ of the division within 13 seconds. The cut is rough for him, but he has never missed it and has always looked much better in the cage then at the weigh in for obvious reasons, emaciated is a bit OTT tbh.

There is no need to make out something is what it is not.

The difference between GSP and Mendes is obvious also.

Did you read kavanaghs book about the knee injury he had in training for the Aldo then mendes fight?

It was very serious, needed stem cell etc and the training basically ground to a halt. Was also the hardest cut due to the injury.

Right, before I respond to that directly what does that have to do with what I said, or responded to though?

edit: I just want to be clear, that is not a snarky question, I am just looking for clarification.

Sorry I meant to reply to your comment about how mendes was able to exert himself over conor on short notice.

I wonder if he was facing Alvarez next would he bring in a top wrestler to drill take down defense.

I know there was talk of Jordan Burroughs working with him before

Interview with Alvarez walking around Philly, last 10 minutes is McGregor talk. How he talks about him leads me to believe he will fight him at 205.

Putting a few quid behind Ariel to do these pieces again.

He is talking a good talk, less than 10 weeks to MSG, they must have started the background work to make these matches by now. Surely a presser in Manhattan soon.

It's so annoying listening to Alvarez spouting absolute and utter bollocks in the hope of cashing in on the back of a fight with McGregor.

I had no issue with Nate getting a big pay day as he deserved it due to what he had put in over the years, now we have Eddie ****ing Alvarez who has gone 3-1 in the UFC with 2 split decisions wins cashing in.

    Ugh.

Surely he should be working on wrestling regardless. It's the biggest area of weakness he has and given the type of fighters he is going to face at 155, the area he needs to improve the most.

Shhhh stop talking sense in this thread,

A lot of people who post in this thread think that an 8 week camp with a wrestler should enable McG to negate the wrestling of mendes/Edgar/Alverze.

His biggest area of weakness imo is his cardio. It has been highlighted badly in the two fights against diaz and not really noticed before because fights were finished early mostly at 145. At 170 it was plain to see and 155 will be no better.
