One quick one for ye guys,

I have an s7 edge, happy with it but not a massive fan of the curved screen.

Was thinking of selling it on and going for the One plus 3.

Main usage is just social media, music, podcasts and photos. Never use it for gaming. So I'm not really getting full usage from this.

How do you find the camera on the one plus? Seen some great and not so great reviews. Camera would need to be good for me to change.

Thank you in advance for any advice

This comparison review is quite fair. There are lots of samples from both phones on the link below.

"I’m blown away that the camera of a $400 phone can stand toe-to-toe with the finest from Samsung. I was not expecting it to be that close, and in several cases, I prefer the OP3’s result. Kudos to OnePlus. However, if you frequently take shots in low light, the Galaxy S7 has the clear advantage there. The fact of the matter is that the gap in performance between these two phones is no where near as wide as the gap in price, and I love that."

Thanks for that. It's defo not a bad camera for sure. The s7 edge is just superb.

I think the one plus will do all I want and I'll have change over for selling the edge

Ye I remember we were buying the edge at the same time and trying to get it from the uk.

I'm just gone off the edge, have it in an otter box case so the look of the phone is gone anyway.

Going on holidays on the 11th so the op3 will be back on sale when I'm home.

Change the phone every few months anyway. Was going to wait and see the reviews of the new nexus but if it's anything like the cost of the 6p here when it came out then the op3 looks even better value

Look at the comparison vids on Youtube for camera comparisons.

Id get it if you can get a good price for the phone.

The camera is fantastic but is there an option to reduce the file size..?

    Phone arrived last night...

Delighted with it, remarkable phone. Dash charge is impressive.

It is a fantastic phone. I had to put mine in one of those Spigen cases for fear of dropping it as they're quite slippery in the hand....

Did you order Spigen online or purchase in a shop? I'm getting a ridiculous lead time on ordering a spigen from Amazon.

Like George Hook, I've fallen in love with a piece of technology...

That is good news, was the one weak point in alot of the reviews

On a OPO at the moment, might look at upgrading in a few months

Hey folks, looking for a bit of feedback here.

I'm a long term Nexus user (first the 5, now the 5x), and am very reluctant to move away from Stock Android, because I feel it's a cut above the rest, but I've heard good things about Oxygen OS, it doesn't seem to depart much.

Basically I want an upgrade on the 5X, good phone and all, but a bit slow for my liking (2GB RAM :( ) and I hear the Oneplus 3 is super duper quick, and seems to have a bigger screen with similar dimensions.

Anyone been in a similar situation and if so, happy with the upgrade?

Oxygen is basically stock. Looks and feels exactly like it. Think of cyanogenmod if you're familiar with it.

I was a nexus user (have had 4, 5, 7 and 9) and switched to the Oneplus One when I balked at the price of the Nexus 6. Have never looked back.

Oxygen OS is as close to stock as you'll get. You'll love the OP3.

Bang for buck, is there much better alternatives out there?

I'm coming from an Xperia Z3 Compact and while it's a great little phone, the screen is just too small.

I'm trying to find the catch with the OnePlus 3 but I haven't seen much!

Im in the same boat My Z3 Compact has stood me well but I think Id like a bigger screen, I have been looking at getting this phone too. Seeing as the Z3 is a flagship I wonder would this be a step down?

Well lads excuse me for not looking through the 107 pages, but I take it this phone is a good purchase?

The only bad thing to say about the phone will be the non-removable battery.

I would advise against using dash charge often. Frequent use of dash charge will lower the overall life of a battery charge. Keep your battery charge between 20% and 80% and you'll be grand.

Bare in mind it was a flagship 2 years ago. I don't keep up to date with the latest when I'm not in the market so I was surprised to see the amount of iterations released in the last two years. Mobile tech moves quickly.

I wouldn't get caught up on the 'flagship' term either. It's just a word. The specs on what I buy decide all.

Maybe a current owner can prove me wrong but I'm struggling to see a better alternative. The fact that it is continuously compared with other flagships has to be a good sign.

When deciding, ask yourself if the so called negative aspects of the phone mean much to you. Personally, I can live with an inferior camera and reduced features. I could also live with a 5.5" screen and 6GB of ram! :D

I'm almost at the ready to buy stage. Just need to make sure I'm making the right decision.

The key here is not to take one persons advice or one website as Gospel.

There is nothing to prove dash charge degrades battery life over normal battery degradation that you get over the life cycle of your device.

I'd be taking this advice with a dollop of salt.

Anyone seeing issues where data is dropping? I suspect it's the three network. It was flaky on my old phone but the one plus drops it and I have to search for a network.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,357 ✭✭✭coldfire1x

No issue with the data but I am having issue with the finger print reader, more often than not it prompts for a pin. Failure rate is quite high, 8 out of 10 times fails. I have reset the phone, removed and reconfigured finger print. Anything else I can do?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,920 ✭✭✭billy few mates

I never have a problem with mine, I have it set up for both index fingers and both thumbs and it works every time. Her indoors had some difficulty with her OP2 fingerprint recognition but I got her to go through it again and set it up properly and that now works every time for her.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,357 ✭✭✭coldfire1x

I will add couple of more fingers to see how it goes.

When you go through the process make sure you lift each finger and re place it slightly different, and roll it slightly each time to give the sensor a better chance of recognising the whole finger tip instead of just a tiny portion of it...
