One thing I'm finding from eggs now is that they are all "wonders" when you do the appraisal. It's not much good when you are getting a pidgey but it's not too bad if you are getting a magicarp or an eevee

I noticed the same which is why I'm trying to hatch more and more 2km eggs so I can get a Pikachu that's a "wonder" :)

Bah, my Venusaur has crap enough IVs and has petal blizzard not solar beam. I've an 897 Ivysaur that I'll evolve when I've the candies.

Mighty stingy with the Revives alright. I just topped up my bag by ~120 items. Only 3 Revives in the whole lot and 2 were from the same 'stop.

Gyms might be staying up longer at this rate.

That ability might not be as bad as you think:

Dun Laoghaire was the first time I caught a Dratini and is an excellent place for water Pokemon in general, e.g. Magikarp, Staryu, Poliwag etc.

How much Dratini candy do you have so far?
I've 86 Dratini candy but I hatched 2 from eggs, only caught 9 in the wild and Dragonair is the only Pokemon I've seen but never caught.

That's a lot of bloody Dratini candy; I've only 15 :( Dun Laoghaire's most likely your best bet so!

Can't get a decent squirtle, my best is something like 457cp 30% iV but I have a wartortle 815cp 67% iV but want something higher.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 36,040 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

Same here, all my squirtle are under 300.

Just hit level 21 and caught a 900CP Porygon. 90 in the Dex.

I haven't seen a horsea in over a week. Getting concerned about him and only need two more to evolve.

Do they even exist outside of eggs?

Seen about 4 electabuzzkillingtons in Limerick and 1 in galway fwiw.

Why all the Electabuzz hate in a nation swamped with Water Types?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,222 ✭✭✭Calvin

One of my friend just hatched a Tauras from a 5k...lucky ****er! First region specific Pokemon I've seen from an egg.

Mr. Mine this morning about 200m from the house. :)
To go with the one I got yesterday right beside the bus stop.
Ponyta from a 5k egg this morning too.

Out of interest, how much have people put in to the game, of their own money, if any? Considering taking the plunge, as the game is getting stale, and could do with incubating 9 eggs a time. If you have, do you reckon it's worth it?

Don't really mind spending 20-40 quid, have put hundreds of hours in to this already, and sure ps4 games cost 70 odd.

You spend money getting incubators, then do all the walking and then you get 9 pidgeys and throw your phone away in a fit of rage.

€30 so far. I say "so far" but I don't think I'll be putting any more money into the game given the current features available.

None. I don't even know how to spend money on an app and don't intend to find out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,019 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Ive put in zero. Level 23 and was considering it until I found out I can earn coins from Gyms. Around 30/40 coins a day max and been saving them up since for a few aul incubators.

Got a level 144 magikarp with 86.7% IV's, is that worth evolving when I get enough candy or should I hold out for a stronger one?

€10 but I still have 390 coins left.
Bought lucky eggs, a backpack upgrade, pokeballs (ran out while at Bull Island) and an incubator.

I spend €15 near the start. The way I see it is a trip to the cinema costs the same and pokemon go is far more hours entertaining. You can easily get away with spending nothing if you live or work near a load of stops. I spend about €6 of my money expanding the items bag.
TBH, now that I know the game I would only ever get incubators.

I spent 10 quid at the very start on bag upgrades and whatnot, also some pokeballs.

Haven't spent a single cent since though. Like breakerjoe, I only spend the coins that I get from gyms. No more real money spending for me.

What level are you? I'm level 27 and the highest I've come across is 186CP. You probably won't find much higher than 144CP if you're several levels below me. Magikarps just naturally have low CP but they do have a great multiplier, something like 10.5 I believe. So 144CP x 10.5 will be around 1500CP+.

Any ponyta's around dublin? I need two candies for an evolve but mine have come from eggs.

Level 21 and I got that one from an egg, highest CP ive caught was around 125 i think. Think i'll hold out for a stronger one, thanks

My intention was to spend nothing, but I thought about the fun and the hours I've gotten from the game so I dropped €10 (just to say thanks, sort of).

If you do go nuts on inc.'s don't put any 2km eggs into any inc. but your infinity one. That's the one piece of advice I can give.

I think I was exactly level 21 as well when I evolved my 1st Gyarados. And the highest Magikarp I could find at time was 140CP. Even after I got the 400 candies, I spent a few more hours looking for a stronger one but had no joy. You're already quite lucky to have got that 144CP at your current level tbh.

I ended up just evolving the 140CP and powering it up a bit.

I finally got a Pokemon in the wild that's a "wonder"!! :) It was only a Shellder but at least it can evolve into something decent.

Honestly, I feel like I've caught 100+ Pokemon since Sunday and not one has been anything wonderful; pun intended.

I read(skimmed) a long post in reddit earlier demonstrating with maths that IV is an essentially worthless metric. I'd be inclined to agree.

You wouldn't happen to have the link handy by any chance?
