Picking Donald would be a huge surprise. Those picks would leave Knox and Pieters rightly pissed off. Anyway, we'll know tomorrow.

Knox is 7 to 1 to be picked now and Donald is 10 to 1 . Westwood and Kaymer unbackable odds and pieters 1 to 10. . The word must have got out from the players who were picked as you can be sure they were told last night or this morning as they will be with him at the press conference tomorrow

Donald shouldn't even be in the discussion. I'd say he would feel slightly embarrassed if he got picked.

RTE now reporting that Donald is being picked.

The only justification for picking Donald would be to avoid having more than 5 rookies on the team. If Darren starts off his announcement by talking about trying to get the right 'balance' in terms of experience, then neither Pieters or Knox will get a pick.

It's Westwood, Kaymer and Pieters according to twitter.

Donald was to get the pick but Pieters win the weekend has stuck him in.

Fair enough. Feel sorry for Knox - number 20 in the world, while Pieters is 41 - form man though.

Surely Lee would be around for the press conference if picked?

Wentworth I think. And considering Lee is flying private also. I guess we will see shortly.

Donald getting a pick would be a big surprise even with his record. Hasn't had a great year.
While Knox and Pieters are rookies they are in much better form than Westwood, Donald and any of the rookies already qualified.

Very worried about the form of wood, Sullivan and matt Fitzpatrick. At least Fitzpatrick has a superb match play record.

I'm sure Knox won't be happy... would have had him in the place of Lee myself.

I'd agree with that myself but had to have some more experience on the team. Thought knox's experience playing in the States might help his cause to be selected but looks like Clarke had his eye on Pieters from a long time ago.

Yeah.. it sounds like the 62 Pieters shot whilst playing with Darren last week had a big influence on the decision also.

Seems to be a done deal according to Twitter. Westwood, Kaymer and Donald

you were right, he was wrong. same source...twitter!

I don't bother my arse with it, so don't know (or care) enough about it, but is twitter not just a voice for whoever feels like it and doesn't have a proper media platform to broadcast their opinions....so you get loads of differing points of views, from god knows who!

Knox will regret not playing in Denmark I'd say.

Me too - Knox plays in the US, and I thought that would be good reason to give him the pick.

Knox van feel hard done by as the world rankings show him to be the best player to miss out.

On the other hand, he didn't bother playing for a couple of weeks after winning the Travellers, added to the fact that he only joined the European Tour halfway through this year, and played the minimum of tournaments. Seems like a bit of a half-assed effort to get on the team.

I think it was a brave pick by Darren. If Europe lose he'll be criticised for it.

It's a flawed system when Russell Knox, one of the more consistent performers on the top tour, does not automatically qualify. Time for Europe to update their qualification criteria.

No it's not. If he had registered as a ET member earlier and not mid season he would have been in automatically. If it was his intention or any players intention to play he should have registered in plenty of time.
