    RIP

One of my all time favourite actors.

His performance in Willy Wonka was one of the greatest acting roles in movie history.

Let's also not forget the movies he made with Richard Pryor.

He also made a movie in Ireland. Quacker Fortune Has a Brother in the Bronx. A charming movie.

Yeap, this pic is from St Teresa's Place in Glasnevin during filming.

Would love to believe in an after-life, it would be great to think that someone up there is now taking Gene Wilder by the hand and softly singing...

...If you want to view paradise
Simply look around and view it
Anything you want to, do it
    Want to change the world?
    There's nothing to it
    There is no
    Life I know
    To compare with pure imagination
    Living there
    You'll be free
If you truly wish to be
    ...

Ah, man. Was only saying the other night I must rewatch Blazing Saddles. And it's not Xmas without watching Willy Wonka. Great performance in that.

    A real shame.

Always liked this interview he gave.

Always loved that man. Wish he did more in his later years he had a face and voice I couldn't get enough of. My mother used to say wasn't good looking but very attractive. The Waco Kid. Brilliant.
I always loved The Lady in Red with Kelly LeBrock. If anyone can find the scene where he gets almost caught by his wife cheating, the expressions on his face are just priceless. This 2016 lark is silly, he lived a long and hopefully happy life, I hope he's sharing a beer with Richard Pryor now in heaven, RIP Gene you made a young Crayfish laugh a lot.

Absolute legend. This makes me very sad.

Blazing Saddles made me laugh so much.

It's very sad news. Though I must confess I thought he was already dead. See no Evil Hear No Evil still makes me chuckle.

I think I'm one of very few who hated Willy Wonka. It absolutely petrified me. I thought Wonka was a sicko and those Umpa Lumpas....the song makes me turn cold.

"The Producers" playing against Zero Mostel: some of the greatest comic chemistry in film history.

There's a DVD available with a lot of interesting interviews and documentary extras. Recommended.

Just had a sconce at BBC news and saw that he had passed. Didn't know he had Alzheimer's.

My favourite of his will always be Young Frankenstein.

    rip Gene

I think blazing saddles was the first movie I ever saw in the cinema and I honestly think there has rarely a week gone by that I didnt quote a line from it
I particularly like "they said you was hung!", "And they was right !" or "You’ve got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know… morons."
