Yeah Pokestops. Have you downloaded the latest version? I also had Pokeballs as Pokestops when I was using an older version.

No haven't actually used it in about 4/5 days. Will have a look for the newest version now.

    Is there any other changes?

Everything looks pretty much the same except for the Pokestop icons.

Decent morning Iv had. Caught a 1105 pinsir, first 1k+ iv seen in the wild and new to the dex. Hatched a charmander from a 2k and a growlith from a 5k.5 mins later caught one in the wild. Also caught a rapidash kabuto and golduck all new for me. And to top it all off landed my 7th 10k egg. I shall hereby be calling today "pokeday" from here on in.

Lucky you all I had was pidgeys weedles and caterpies and out of my 2k egg hatched a bloody pidgey and distance calculator has gotten worse since the update, I've ran it against pedometers and the like and the pedometer will 3.1k but the egg only reads 2.1.

There's an option to show spawn locations. I didn't notice that on the last one.

How do you run it while out with your phone running around?

Had a much better morning today. Picked up my 'new' bike and went for a spin to test it out down by the river on the way. Caught a couple of Bulbasaur and a Slowpoke I evolved to a 1300+ Slowbro, my newest champion. Caught some Tentacools which I hadn't seen in ages. Then I saw a shadow of a wee dragon. Caught him in one go and added him to the pokedex.

On my way back I saw the shadow again, which I thought was strange. On closer inspection it was a Dragonair. It flicked away every last one of my ultra balls before I finally caught him with a super ball. 890 CP and IV calculator has it at 96% so that's a keeper!

I'd been trying to find a decent Psyduck to evolve with no luck and then I found a wild Golduck with 1100+ CP so that sorted that out!

Four more in dex after a dry couple of days feels good. Next target is Kadabra or revenge on Magmar or maybe I can evolve Seadra soon enough.

I also caught a 20CP Mr. Mime with near perfect IVs :D

iv 30 evolves with 4 new mons ready to go. worth a lucky egg? iv 2 so think i may aswell?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,216 ✭✭✭dbagman

ok i went for it. Should of waited. Did all 30 evolves with 8 minutes of my lucky egg to spare. You'd want at least 45-50 evolves ready if you plan on getting the most out of your egg id say. Live and learn.

My very minimum is 55. But I usually wait till I have 60. You can easily evolve 1 every 30 seconds or 2 every minute, so 60 in 30 minutes is well doable. But you need to have a list written up of which ones you're gonna evolve or have your pokemon sorted. That's so you don't waste time constantly scrolling or looking for pokemon, etc.

Yup. I have my list written up and edited over the last couple of days.
Currently 28 evolves ready to go plus 40 or so pidgeys and weedles. (Running low on space due to the army of pidgeys Im holding onto)
Going out for a 45-60 min walk along the river to see what I can get then gonna pop the lucky egg when I get back.
Might not squeeze them all into the 30 mins but will certainly try.

When you need 50-100K to level up those double XP easy pidgey/weedle/caterpie evolves are handy to have.

iv got a venomoth with a cp of 83. Ill never use him but I cant bring myself to get rid as he has IVs of 97.8% :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,953 ✭✭✭JamboMac

Only noticed that the eggs take up space of Pokemon. 2nd 10k egg hope for Snorlax or aerodactyl as I don't have one but I'll take a Lapras as the one I have only has a cp 437.

I have started nicknaming my pokemon, just wondering if I leave a nicknamed pokemon in a gym will its name be visible to other players? I haven't seen any nicknamed one.

All Jynx should be called Nicki Minaj if you ask me haha

A Vaporeon I caught in the wild and mentioned a number of pages back. It was 1300+CP but it's IVs were about 36% so on to the Prof. it went!

Could you or anyone else explain this logic to me please? I think I'm missing a large element of the game here haha. Is IV the bar above the Pokemon showing you its potential?

IVs are hidden values in the game that range from 0 - 15. They're essentially bonus points added to a Pokemon's base Attack, Defense and Stamina. For example, if a Vaporeon's base stats were...
    • Attack: 200
    • Defense: 200
    • Stamina: 100

... then having "100% IVs" would mean there are 15 points added to the above stats, e.g. "Attack" would now be 215.

Regarding the white semi-circle above a Pokemon when you select one from your bag, that's the CP arc and shows the Pokemon's CP potential . CP = Combat Power and, along with HP, indicate how "strong" or "good" a Pokemon is when it comes to battling.

With all that said, my Vaporeon had 37% IVs so didn't have many bonus points added to its Attack, Defense etc so I got rid so I could find a better version and I did; my best Vaporeon has 97.8% IVs :)

Finally, additional and more detailed info on the above can be found here.

I have two 95.6 magikarp but waiting on the candies. Should i power up first or evolve?

Evolve first as the CP cap they will get will not change (or so I have heard regardless). See who's IV is higher. I have seen people who do vlogs on youtube that the reason they evolve first is so if they get an evolution with a crap move set they can spare those candies to get a better evolution with move set. Of course with high candies for magicarp

Caught like 10+ in around an hour. So many were spawning that I was just dashing from place to place. Also plenty of Eevees, caught 4 I think.

Went up this evening for about an hour and caught 6 growlithes and a kadabra, enough for an Arcanine so I'm happy!

Just to back up the advice about waiting to do a mass evolve with your lucky egg in the background. Just did my latest round
25 Evolves, resulting in 6 new additions to the Pokedex, followed by 30 Caterpie/Rattata/Weedle/Pidgeys evolves.
Ended up adding 61500 XP to my total.....(that last Pidgey just missed the lucky egg effect!)

And my Pyro trick didnt work.....got myself a 1178 Jolteon instead. (Still good)

Level 23 (41K/125K) now with 107 caught of 107 seen....and another 3 new pokemon close to enough candy to evolve.
