Sprayed on a school wall in Glasgow. Since Brexit there's been a steep rise in racism and hate crimes around the UK. I live here and haven't heard anything negative at all. A colleague is Muslim and has had things shouted at him and his kids while picking them up from school. The same seems to be happening in Ireland as evident by anti muslim league or whatever crap they're calling themselves now. Are things getting worse?

Glasgow police are treating as a hate crime the appearance of anti-Irish graffiti on the wall of a Catholic school in the city.

The message, spray-painted in red on St Aloysius’ College in Glasgow,
read "The famine is over, it's time to go home."

Police were called to the scene on Sunday evening and confirmed that they
believed the message to be of a 'sectarian nature.'

According to Glasgow Live, the police have said "The incident is being
treated as a hate crime and enquiries are ongoing."

Photos of the graffiti have appeared on social media, and drawn much
    criticism.

It's gas how England invaded half the world and then complained about immigration.

It's a line from the charming musical ditty known as The Famine Song sung by Rangers supporters.

It's gas how the guys who wrote that have Scottish cousins who's descendants are claiming sole ownership over the north of Ireland. Imagine if Irish immigrants did the sae in England or Scotland?

The plantation has ground to a halt too lads, pass the message on.

I wouldn't see this as anything further than Rangers "fans". Both Celtic and Rangers have idiots that engage in all this stuff, nothing to do with religion, just a learned behaviour from the cretins they call parents who dragged them up.

I live in Scotland and haven't had any issues.

    'Brexit Ate My Hamster'

FFS, Protestant sectarianism in Scotland predates brexit by, oh, a couple of hundred years at this stage. I'm getting more then a little sick of 'brexit responsible for....' articles.

Here's a peach that blames brexit for the impending doom of global warming.

The famine is over, it's time to go home

You don't see a comma included in spray-painted messages on walls too often!

having spend some time there i can say that Glasgow and Scotland in general is populated by some of the most underdeveloped bigoted racist and idiotic human beings on the planet.

Stick old firm derby into youtube and watch the animals go at each other.

So it's Brexit and not Muslim extremism and terrorism?

Papers are just paying attention of issues that already existed and blaming the brexit. Im 50/50 on the brexit situation which is why i chose not to vote.

Freedom of immigration without restriction is just a bad idea. The issues with it are plain to see.

Immigration should be controlled across Europe even at the most basic level. You should have to apply for a work permit before immigrating to another country and you should have to register once per year to indicate that you are still living there.
One of the most basic issues of the Breixit campaign was that noone really knew how much immigration was taking place because nothing is recorded when someone goes to live in the UK. They just turn up and can work, and can leave just as quick.

This permit will include a background check so that unwanted criminals can be rejected rather than the current situation where criminals are only known when the commit another offense.
It should also be based on some financial backing. Someone should have to show that they have enough money to sustain themselves for a certain period of time (eg. 6 months), or they already have a job on arrival. No country needs an influx of minimum wage workers with no savings and who will be immediately claiming certain benefits which are available to them.

And any country should be allowed to place a restriction on the number of people who are allowed to move per year. Its unrealistic to expect any country which is doing well for itself to accept an unlimited number of people from the poorer areas of europe.
All that this encourages is the mass movement of people out of poorer countries which causes those countries to lose their most educated and skilled workers, and it causes a massive outflow of money from the country because a large amount of money is being sent back home to these countries.

There would have been no Irish Diaspora if that was the case. Most people emigrating from home do so because of lack of money and opportunities to get it.

I saw nothing but kindness and fun in any of the Scots I know or have ever met, love the Scots.

It only takes one eejit to spray paint something they might not even understand on a wall.

I agree Candie but I do think there's a rise in anti-immigrant feeling post Brexit.
