Everybody's entitled to their opinion on Conor McGregor but surely even his biggest detractors can't take away from that performance.

Super fight, going to rewind and watch again with my fingers not over my face

:o First time I ever muted sound and just read the thread after the 3rd, I was shaking, couldn't watch. Thank God he won!

After the results Diaz looked disappointed. Does he really think he won it?? I mean seriously mcgregor knocked him down 3 times and let him up.

Did you watch the fight, his cardio needs serious work. He is clearly a much superior striker to Nate yet he hasn't the gas to back it up.

I'm really not sure but did we just watch the same fight where Mc Gregor won in 5 rounds or what's the Craic?

It looked to me that rather than McGregor doing well in the 4th round, it was more like Diaz just didn't continue the pressure in the 4th that he did in the 3rd. Maybe it was the blood in his eyes or some other problem?

Regardless of who won the fight, I think it's fair to say that the UFC needed a McGregor win to keep the Notorious Cash Cow mooing.

Its certainly going to keep the money rolling in. They should let this simmer for a while and if one of them can get hold of the 155 belt then they have a mega monster on their hands.

Agreed, as much as diaz is touted for his boxing, he couldnt lay a hand on conor when they are both fresh.

Cards make a lot of sense lads. What a ****ing war. Now get the LW belt and give Nate first dibs

He showed the heart of a champion there. Some war. He clearly won 3 rounds imo. His take down defense and clinch game was phenomenal.

Did McGregor just give the fw division the blueprint to beat him. I cant help but think aldo or edgar are thinking. Weather the first two rounds and pick him apart for the last 3.

Aldo definetly had the striking ability to do it, a gassed mcregor. Would get shredded by aldo.

10-8 in the third is a stretch imo
If you never seen a more dominant round you have seen many tbh.

    Scorecard should be out soon

I did say I couldn't argue with 48-47, just that if I personally was judging it, I would have given Nate a 10-8 in round three.

a lurker...a fanboi some might say....but ive learned more bout mma than ever before...im a boxing fan and i screamed for conon to hold on to nate when he looked fooked in the 3rd....but then i heard commentators say "excellent takedown defence" time and again so i watched ,tried to figure what he was doing(i thought hold his arms so you dont get punched)but its a skill,a skill he brushed up on after being beaten last time ou...well done CMcG hard fought hard won but thats proper martial arts...am i wrong its about defending as much as attacking?????

I think at 145 he won't get as gassed, and when someone can rock Diaz then people who don't have the chin Diaz does will struggle. If McGregor doesn't vacate the FW belt can't see anyone beat him up by stand up.

Thing is tho, Diaz is unique in his ability to take those shots, so the same rules don't necessarily apply.

Just rewatched 3rd and I can't see it being a 10-8, McGregor caught him a lot, clear 10-9 for me.

I think the 2 judges who gave it to him were spot on.

    Superb fight!

    Aldo next please

Oh my fcukin god I cant believe what I have just seen,

Nate is a warrior, his performance was stunning. No matter what Conor threw at Nate he could still absorb it. Fcuking unbelievable champ at sucking up Conors left blows, I was stunned how he didnt totally collapse.

Nate did fall, three times all up. Conor played the patient game and it paid dividends. Such a controlled performance, McG completely disabled Nates lead leg which meant he couldnt close the distance and kept taking counters. .

the fighters at the lower weight can't take the punches that Conor throws, nor can they deal with his reach. they don't last 3 rounds

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

That's a lot easier said than done not much of a plan there. Aldo and the like will go down and not come back up with the hits Diaz took in rounds one and two, also mcgregor would follow in with those guys were as tonight he didn't go for the kill

Only if they can suddenly take the shots. Someone Nates size can not sure many people who can make 45 are going to be able to.
