Do you think any less of the Swiss People because of the actions of Sepp Blatter? The story is a high ranking IOC member not the fact he is Irish. His nationality is NOT the big story worldwide or in Rio.

That's somewhat different - almost every report/news feed I've seen and heard has mentioned, at some stage at least, that Hickey is the head of the Irish Olympic Council. He is inextricably linked with the IOC. Blatter was head of an organisation that did not have the word 'Switzerland' in it. I'm not ashamed to be Irish, to be clear, just a little depressed by all this.

Gah.... man on rte talking about the triath-a-lon, involving swimming, cyc-a-ling and swimmeen.

Does NOBODY do pronunciation lessons before going on air, or would nobody think of picking him up on it?

Sorry to be a talkie-nazi - but AAAAAAAAARRRGGGHH!

From what I gathered there, they all fence against each other, then it's the swimming, then show jumping, then they do the shooting/running, all in one day!

    Sounds gaga.

possibly one who values his IT equipment if the employee plans on viewing it online?

Some sites (which we dare not mention on boards) have a huge array of popups/malware/spyware/general nasties which you wouldnt want getting into your network.

I'd imagine most people will be nipping out for 5 mins at around 4 to find a tv.

By the way, you sound like a great employer ;)

Our boss brought in a telly. Great atmosphere in work today.

My boss wouldn't know who Thomas Barr was, if he came into the building now and hurdled over her :pac:

Luckily I'm in a position where I can do what I want and no one cares:D

So it's not actually starting today? I was wondering why there wasn't much talk about it/RTE not showing it!

Not pretending I understand Modern Pentathlon, but according to the BBC commentators the ranking round is the main part of the fencing, tomorrow is just a bonus round.

They said that each victory is worth 6 seconds in the combined run/shoot.

I can't believe that anyone would believe that.

Mark Adams from the ICO fielded questions yesterday at the ICO press conference. He was asked who was paying the legal bills and it was very much put into an OCI context. Not to mention the fact that most of these tickets were OCI tickets and were beamed into tv screens worlwide as such.

I think it's very much an Irish story and scandal.

    More importantly though...

Best of luck Barr. You can do it!!!!!!...
I'm sitting here waiting patiently glued to the screen :-) :-) :-)

Hows the nerves? I've got butterflies in my stomach

Here's Bob Tisdall winning his 400m hurdles semi final and final in 1932, with Pat O'Callaghan winning Gold as a bonus

Jerry Kiernan's attitude really stinks. Sits there in the corner like a curmudgeon, as if he'd won a heap of gold medals himself.

Hoping Thomas can raise the Barr for the final
