    Nope.

Ethernet is designed for and run solely to transmit data. As such it rarely fails. Homeplugs are a kludge.

For example, turn on your hoover, homeplugs die, turn off hoover, back. Grand for your youtube signal but not so great if that kills your calls to customers.

Well ****e then. I know some people from Gaming that recommended them.

I use em' for gaming. I lose connection sometimes although I can never pinpoint why. I guess just don't hoover while gaming? Might be hard for a big household.

Take recommendations of home plugs / powerline adapters with a pinch of salt.
The performance/stability others experience may be polar opposite to what you may experience.
I've been using powerline adapters for about 3 or 4 years now and I've never experienced issues like dropouts when the vacuum cleaner is on.
At the end of the day it's down to the quality of wiring in your premises and the ability of your adapters to maintain solid connections with one another.
My opening statement goes for what I just wrote also.

I think I'll order one off of Amazon in the meantime and at least test it out. But I'll also order a bloody long Ethernet cable too. Just wanted to avoid running cables through the house as it looks awful.

For me I couldn't get an ethernet cable long enough until it started getting into the €40 price range. I had no choice but to get a TP link.

THe other person in the household uses a really long cable although it has to travel slightly less distance to her computer than it does mine. It prevents us from closing one of the doors and is also ugly and we step on it all the time. Have to keep it taped down otherwise a bit will rise and act like a hook for your feet, causing you to trip. Dangerous and not worth it. To keep it out of the way we'd have to route it on the ceiling which it doesn't have enough slack for.

Run it along the outside of the house. My Router is in the sitting room, PC is in the Kitchen. I ran a cable to the attic for a port switch to feed the upstairs rooms and from the port switch I ran 2 cables to my PC, again down the outside of the house. I got black Cat 5e cable and ran it alongside the UPC cables that were already there. Crimped the ends off myself with a crimper and RJ45 plugs bought from ebay years ago for next to nothing.

I live in a house that was built sometime in the 40's, so when I bought a pair of Netgear home plugs I assumed the reason they dropped the connection once or twice a day was due to old wiring. Later I picked up super cheap Arcnet homeplugs in a sale expecting similar results but they are rock solid. I was surprised to be honest. Would probably not buy Netgear products again.

Appreciate it :) Local store is a ripoff. I might invest later when I start playing more competitve online games like Tekken 7 in 2017. If the internet starts cutting out at those times it will be unacceptable.

Hi, can anyone tell me the best amd processor for a gaming pc, thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

Probably an 8320 or 8350, what's the socket?

    You're better off going Intel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

AMD really only makes sense for cheap browsing machines, if you're gaming you're straight into intel territory.

It's am3+, I only got the motherboard a few months ago cos I blew the old one changing gpu, I think I'll go Intel, what wud be a good one at a decent price? Thanks

    i3 6100 and a H150M is a bit under €200, you'll need new RAM too though. i5 and a H150M is a little over €200.

Or an i5 4460 with a B85m will be a bit over €200 but you won't need new RAM

I've a corsair k70 that keeps repeating key presses, particularly the T key. I press it once, at least 3 T's appear. Anything I can do?

I have a similar issue with my K500. I press my escape key and the keyboard keeps acting like the esc key is being pressed for up to 30 seconds. Annoying as hell in games when you go to change settings or controls.

Thought it was my usb ports or something cos it didn't do it on another PC in the house but I've since bought a whole new pc and its still doing it now. Very annoying. I don't even game using a keyboard, I just like the lights and I got it cheap from a lad here second hand :D. Might look into an alternative.

    Have you tried cleaning it?

Try contacting their support. Don't know what Corsair are like but I've used Logitech's before for a mouse and it was excellent. I had no receipt and they just told me to bin the old mouse and sent me a new one.

Yeah I've pulled all the keys off and cleaned everything. No dice.

Yeah I'll give that a go. Cheers. Doubt they'll send me a new 150 quid Keyboard though! :D

I just received my 3rd replacement K70 the other day.All three had key faults and the 3rd died out of the blue.Sign up on their support page and open a ticket. They are ok to deal with albeit slow sometimes to reply.

Sent a ticket. One of the first things on the webpage says the require proof of purchase for RMA's which I don't have so unless there's a software fix or something I can do my self it'll be replacement time.

Every bloody word in this reply with a t in it had tt instead, i have to edit everything I type. Stupid thing!

Ah that's a shame not having proof of purchase,I don't think software can fix it.

Isn't that a Cherry keyboard? Would you not just pull the switch itself and swap it with another? If it fixes the issue, then buy some replacement switches.
