This Olympics is brilliant for the old surprises.

Is there another one out there we don't know about.

We are surely good at women's freestyle 58 Kg wrestling - is there a lovely girl contest - ticket selling.

    Come on Leona.

Somewhere in the world, John Delaney is slipping off the FAI blazer and trying on the OCI one for size.

The BBC report is now saying that the police said he tried to do a runner when they went to arrest him, presumably that is the "feeling ill" part.

    This just gets crazier
Police said Mr Hickey tried to escape when they came to arrest him.

You couldn't make this stuff up! It's a pity he didn't escape - imagine him on the run??

Unless he got some gear from his mates in Russia, how is a 70 year old man going to outrun the Brazilian police?

    Hopefully he'll get his comeuppance.

This Olympics has just been the pits for us.

Boxing aside it most certainly has not. The majority of our competitors have actually performed well. Diving,Badminton,Dressage, athletics, golf, cycling have all had competitors that have reached finals or won games. Not to mention rowing and sailing. On the medal front we have disappointed (so far) but for one in an Olympics our competitors have shown up well.

I am absolutely not talking about the competitors. I am talking about the out of competition incidents.

The Brazilians take ticket touting very seriously. They consider it a criminal and jailable offence, not just a minor issue.

I think you are right. Confusing him with Jimmy the Gent from Goodfellas!

Not just touts here. This is involvement of an international Olympic Council member screwing families and friends of competitors partaking in a competition that is of the highest regard. This is sickening.

Give a lad a blazer, a Fancy pair of shoes, and call him a 'hospitality provider'...... if he is selling event tickets for more than face value, he is still a tout IMHO.

I am agreeing with you but saying this is worse. This is way worse.

It's not Barr, or Murphy, or the O Donavans fault that this happened.

I'm extremely proud of our performance at these Olympics where it matters.

Hoping Hickey gets his just dessert if guilty but in no way should this tarnish the people who have done us proud.
