PB and National Record in the Olympic Semi Final.

That's how to do Championships Athletics.

    Such a classy run.

    Brazilian or Irish time

It has been a rollercoaster day for Ireland

Michael Conlan, Annalise Murphy, Oliver Dingley and Thomas Barr with some other bits in between. Great to end on a high.

Peter Collins giving us a virtual high five for staying up late, fair play!

    Brazilian or Irish time

    4pm here, Midday in Rio.

Fair play Thomas Barr, super run.

But Derval? Best Irish track run ever? Ronnie Delany for starters. Best track sprint run ever? Bob Tisdall. George even mentioned it afterwards.

    Yeah, that was odd.

And Sonia sitting beside her must have been biting her tongue not to mention her own Olympic Silver Medal.

Unreal Thomas. A similar performance would put him in with a good chance in the final, or was he in an easier semi? Not too familiar with 400 hurdles.

I get the impression she was talking about at 400m or less, rather than the distance runners.

Yeah it's the best Irish Olympic track performance since Sonia is what she should have said. Just got carried away a bit, no hanging offence really.

He was the slowest of the three semi winners but there was very little between the three, only a tenth of a second.

I think she said 'one of the best'?

I wouldn't bet my double mortgaged house on it, but I'm sure she started off with saying best Irish track performance ever, then stressed Olympics, then qualified it to say sprints. I don't think there was a "one of" qualifcation in there but could be wrong. No biggie in fairness.

As well as that, he was third overall in the standings. I hope he can run well on Thursday and surprise us all with a medal. As it was said, it's good that he gets a rest day.
