I've watched a good bit of Olympics. This idea everyone is on drugs is wrong and has almost become fact.

I think you can win clean - look at the Cork lads and the British team.

I know it takes incredible support , technical , nutritional, scientific, equipment, financial - dedication at a higher level of cheats.

It really is a brilliant event (The Olympics) so sad that cheating has almost ruined the great human stories there.

People focus far too much on the negative. You can bet that the majority of the competitors are clean and honest. I'd say a large majority!

I'm guessing it'll be taken down pretty quickly
    Still up there, strange

All that is true and, to be fair, that was merely my interpretation. She said nothing definite at all. Maybe when she reflects on this, she might think there was possibly a gold for the taking, I mean only possibly, and there's still even MORE unfinished business with the sport. Being selfish I'd like to think so, but it's her life and her decision to make. Wouldn't blame her whatever route she decides to take.

Like an example of that is Katie Taylor. This may seems sexist - but after she won a gold in 2012 - in female Boxing, I felt that was enough of that.

It was way too intense and too in the spotlight for her personality.

I think the 4 year cycle is a greater commitment for females.

    I love the Olympics.
I just wish it was on every 2 years.

1 year would make it little too common, but 4 years seems just too far then.

    EVENFLOW

Lads is he Irish at all ? - serious question ?

I'm not sure I'm comfortable at these declared people - same in rugby.

Sure it is a joke some Kenyans running for European countries too.

Nice first dive by Dingley. 2nd of 6 so far

Well you have the Worlds and Winter in the gap.

I don't know the 4 years places it at a sort of Everest level. It adds to the tension.

Yes but he did dive for UK.
So that for me should be it. No change.

    His Grandmother from spike.

Dingley fourth after the first dive. The Eoin Rheinisch of these games perhaps?

He didn't get selected for GB for this Olympics so switched to us under grandmother. Not sure about this. He is good though

What makes you think all of the British team is clean?

One road cyclist missed three drug tests in 12 months, only getting to compete in the Olympics after appeal, she didn't win a medal this time.

Then theres the track athlete who has 2 coaches with a lot of question marks over them. Yet the only journalist who asked him any difficult questions in the press conference was an Irishman. This then lead to bizarre scenes after the press conference as the Irish writer was congratulated by British press who were afraid to question him.

As O'Reilly proved, not all failed drug tests will be Russian or Ethiopian.

Quite a few of our footballers switched like this as well so I wouldn't have a problem with it

Dingley's "Irishness" may be up for debate, but Jaysus he's diving well.

It is great - he doesn't even have the sunbed tan or shaved chest to make him look more Irish :D:p

Yes and that was wrong too.

They sure did . But none of them switched after being left out of a world cup squad for one country and then went to a world cup with us. But good luck to him and if he manages a medal even better

    Mo

Look - of course there is a few bad apples.

But the UK have remarkable investigative and whistleblowing culture.

There is no way it is systematic like Russia.

    Still fourth after round 2.

True, but Ciaran Clark for example was capped several times by the England under 21s.

Dingley fourth after two dives, but it is a Russian in third, so we can forget about the bronze.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,563 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Still fourth after round 2.

A lot closer to third though.

    Couldn't happen surely?....

Look there is underage - then rediculous like this lad and as another example Standar in Rugby.
