Yes I read that. Keegan would probably be happy enough if nobody knew I'd say. Terrible loss he's going to be to irish sport.

Amazing result! She was completely disregarded before the competition. Delighted for her.Do we have any other medal contentions arm or will two silvers likely be the final result?

Aw, she's crying with joy in her RTE interview, I'm happy for her :)

The Netherlands nearly blew it in the end! The Danish certainly did.

I thought she raced well looked after the Dane knew Annalise had to look after the Belgian so most likey wouldnt win the race and still finished 7th

Rob Heffernan in the 50k walk has a chance.

Yeah you're probably right, I don't know nearly a tenth enough to be talking about race strategies anyway! And the Dane didnt blow it as I claimed, still got her medal!

Annalise sailed very well, mostly in the top 3 and never dropped below 5th

Yeah, we saw her celebrating with Annalise in the boats and the two of them jumped into the water together :D

Maybe the pentathletes? Is Natalya Coyle qualified? Think she is anyway. Looks like a tough event to medal in, but Annalise has made me all positive again so I'm not ruling out a surprise there. Seems all our "outsiders" are the ones with the best chances.

Here what did Belgium get the penalty for on the line. Did she hit the pin. Also, what the **** happened at the end of the second beat big shift?

    She hit the pin

She must have been absolutely polluted with nerves to hit the pin in a medal race. I'm always one for a dodgy start I've never managed to hit a pin.

Croatian acted the dick at the start in the men's sailing race there (Ben Ainslie style) and blew his almost nailed on gold medal as a result. Got what he deserved though. Surprising that he and the Aussie that beat him were able to shake hands at the end.

And Annalise is now off to do a cookery course, she's my new favourite woman!!

I've calmed down now enough to post. What a bloody amazing achievement by Annalise! Just as with the two boys. Silver medals! Second in the world in both sports from little old Ireland. With our lack of funding in all areas of sport, they should be so proud of themselves for all their hardwork. If that doesn't make anyone proud, I don't know what would. I really hope it makes the powers that be stand up and take note and I hope they get the recognition they deserve!

Realistically two silvers is likely to be our lot this time around. Below expectations but nice to get the medals in sports that we rarely get them in. Boxing has been a disaster from start to finish, everything that could have gone wrong did - a major review needed there.

The best out shot left for us now is Rob Heffernan, he's about 6th or 7th ranked in his event but is a proven championship performer. It would be more of a surprise than a shock if he got a medal, but it shouldn't be expected.

Our other chances are all long, long shots at this stage - men's sailing, women's golf and modern pentathlon.

Looking across all sports though there have been some cracking Irish performances. If the boxing team had done as expected (3-4 medals) it would have been a great olympics for Ireland.

Are the men not doing quite well in the skiffs?

Anyone know when the medal ceremony is taking place?

I'm not trying to call out what Conlan said whatsoever, but I find it ironic that the Russia silver-medalist against Katie in 2012 said that we bought off the judges.

No they've fallen way back, no chance of a medal at this stage - they might just scrape into the medal race though. Serious underperformance there if we're being honest, they were seen as a better hope than Annalise.

I felt at times Katie got decisions / won rounds because she was Katie Taylor !
She probably would have got the nod for the fight yday in London
    Today was incomparable to anything
Absolutely mind boggling and so blatantly obvious
It's almost as if they gave him the second round to try and give some credibility to the scoring
3 0 in the first round was correct. but in favour of the wrong boxer
The ref in the second round also helped him out a bit

I'm not saying that what Conlan said was wrong, just find it a bit ironic that (a few of) our athletes on both sides have accused each other of corruption.
