Four years chasing your dream, and then you get a bent decision like that.

Amateur Boxing makes Pro Boxing look respectable.

It's sickening especially when they've put off professional boxing for years to partake.Twitter and everyone is livid

Honestly watch again. Panel losing the run of themselves.

Russian was a good boxer and hit him solid to head.

    They are embarrassing. Unreal talk.....

Last rd was close but still felt Conlon won. 30-27 for me.

First round is where all the problems were, Conlan boxed brilliantly and won it comfortably

Was waiting for your view on this. I thought first round was much closer but not a clear win by the Russian. Agree Conlan probably won it but not by a lot. Can't get the commentators they call punches that don't seem to be landing.

They played it back. I felt that too. But as rte played back. Conlon swinging Russian solid hits to head.

Well Ronald McIntosh on the BBC was in shock at the scoring and he's no hype merchant

Disgraceful robbery! Another Russian getting a gift, it's bribery and corruption from the Russians.

    Looks it does look dodgy.

    But way closer than analysis.

Going on about katie too a joke.

Katie was Terible. Unfit and swinging one very predictable unguarded move

She was terrible. No moving no variety.

I can easily accept the Katie Taylor result (very close fight), but this one was off the wall.

Looks like the Russians have either paid off the AIBA or have some sort of an 'arrangement' with them.

I've always railed against people claiming fix or robbery

Conlan was robbed. he won every round. I don't see how anyone can argue.

Seriously, look at my posts here and elsewhere I despise losing boxers saying they were robbed but there's no way Conlan lost that fight. Katie was arguable. Barnes clearly lost IMO. Conlan won clearly

Exactly, this is the elephant in the room.

There should be a criminal investigation into this, there would also be a lot of betting behind this corruption. If they can charge some Irish pr company bods for touting tickets unofficially, in half empty stadia wtf cares, then surely they can chase down corrupt officials, which affects the integrity of any sport!!!

It was a blatant fix, not incompetence. The judges decided beforehand that the Russian would win.

Question for the guys/girls on here who know about boxing

Have a look at this Guardian article from before the games started:

    https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/aug/01/rio-2016-olympics-boxing-corruption-allegations

One person who stuck his head over the parapet and went on record was Irish, had this to say:
One boxing judge who was prepared to go on the record, Ireland’s Seamus Kelly, told the Guardian he had been asked to cheat at the Arab Games in Doha in 2011 by indicating who was winning during the fight.

He claimed a fellow judge had confided there were signals used under the new, so-called “10-9” scoring system at the European Championships in Minsk in 2013.

Kelly emailed Dr CK Wu, the sometimes controversial AIBA president, in April 2015 to raise the alarm.

Dr Wu replied: “AIBA will immediately investigate this case. We are zero tolerance for this kind of cheating judges.” Kelly heard nothing further and believes he has been sidelined.

“It was mental abuse. I wasn’t sleeping at all because of the way they made me feel. It put an X against my name. They were pushing me away,” Kelly said.

“People are afraid to speak out because if they are judges they will be sidelined and won’t get to go to the Olympics or other championships. If they are officials, they fear their country’s boxers will be targeted.”

I added the bold bit to the quote. Any basis to it, or conspiracy theory?

Conlan won the first round comfortably and the rest of the fight should have been straightforward from there.....the Russian being given the round was a shocker to everyone

Not disputing that, just the style of writing which is not what you'd expect from the national broadcaster.

It was written in the style of a bad tabloid and giving the authors opinions. You'd normally expect the author trying to appear impartial, but get their point across by filling it with quotes from shocked viewers and twitterati.
