The exchange in Headford Co. Kerry [which is part of the 100,000 homes] has gone from Fibre Build Commenced to no longer being on the map. There is still a blue dot at the exchange though.

    It is surely a mistake.

Am I correct in saying that all those that have disappeared are areas with no current (live) FTTC? If so it would make a mistake more likely.

Curragh camp is gone the same and there's VDSL from that exchange.

They must be working on the map as all planned exchanges are '17-'20 no sign of the first 100,000

If I click the Fibre Service Live checkbox on CUR1_E01 I get a green tooltip:
1240 premises in this exchange can now access up to 100Mb/s fibre broadband. Estimated date for first Live FTTH Fibre Services with speeds up to 1000Mb/s is Winter 2016/ Spring 2017

    That's what I see also.

On a related note, I saw KNN the other day laying something blue from a large reel (possibly sub-ducting?) on one of the proposed FTTH routes for this exchange.

That's what I have seen the last while as well but clicking on it now I get is fibre cabinet is live. I have mostly viewed it on my phone and that's what I have always got. I'm sure I have a screen shot from when the FTTH rural plan was announced or when the map was first updated with the info.

Oops. I never tapped on fibre services live.

They were doing that near me also

There is another reason for the start in September....the Bird nesting season will be over!

Ah here...You really think they're worried about that? You're for the birds peg!

Section 40 of the Wildlife Act 1976, as amended by Section 46 of the Wildlife (Amendment) Act 2000, restricts the cutting, grubbing, burning or destruction by other means of vegetation growing on uncultivated land or in hedges or ditches during the nesting and breeding season for birds and wildlife, from 1 March to 31 August.

Do CoCos have an exemption? There was much hedge trimming around Newport, Co. Tipp in the last week.

The missing markers seem to be all back on the map. Perhaps someone in openeir is reading this thread!

I tweeted the open eir Twitter account about the headford exchange in Kerry disappearing. They got back to me today (I feel special). But it isn't great news. The exchange is now gone from building commenced to planned. It's on the FTTH list and was even singled out as a "priority" when the PR team from Eir graced Kerry in June. Is it all nonsense? Is it getting fibre soon and then FTTH? It's so odd.

The map is kind of infuriating when it's all you have to check progress. And then it goes back a stage. Makes you wonder what all the secrecy is for.

Yeah I think a lot of the confusion arises from whether exchanges such as yours will get FTTC or transition straight to FTTH. The map they are using now was designed for the FTTC rollout. There should be some new markers and colours added to distinguish the difference.

Just noticed the NGA exchange status bubble has disappeared from my local area, probably since yesterday. It changed from planned to 'build commenced' around a month ago, but has just gone altogether. The cabinet status bubble still says planned and the blue lines are still there. Is this something to be worried about?
Good news. Map info at http://fibrerollout.ie/where-and-when has just been updated. You might need to clear your cache to get it immediately.

Bad news. My exchange bubble has gone back to blue from green. Though:
Estimated date for first Live FTTH Fibre Services with speeds up to 1000Mb/s is Winter 2016/ Spring 2017
In practical terms, not much change.

Mine has gone back to blue from green aswell. Fairly disappointed to be honest.

What about the text when you hover over it? That would be more important imo.

So the map is basically nonsense. It's an aspiration. They have a real list and completion dates somewhere but people don't need to know that. Keep stringing them along with bs. Why do I have the sinking feeling I will be typing this a year from now?

All I want is some fast internets. Is that too much to ask for?

Who do I have to bribe to get the real list of actual exchanges to be upgraded in my county?

Eh Nope! our one has gone back to '17-'20 even though first fibre live was this year and we are still adsl:mad:

all previously disappeared green tags are now blue tags, could be another error. As I said before the Open Eir map is in real need of updating. The FTTC rollout is close to completion but the map is very much geared towards it and not the soon to be started FTTH rollout. While it does show the blue lines, there is no indication what routes are in progress. The only indication is the tag marker on some exchanges. Many exchanges including my local one of Dunshaughlin have no FTTH related marker, instead the 'first live FTTH dates' is listed on the FTTC tag for Dunshaughlin. These exchanges should at least have 2 tags, one for FTTC and another for FTTH.

Must be someone oirish in charge of the map...should be two totally separate maps as its two differing technologies involved...maybe he's a dyslexic...gets things done backwards..

That's why I think the text in the bubble when you hover over it, is more important than the colour blue or green. When ours went green a while back, there was never any sign of any "build" in the area. So, being blue again is at least a more accurate picture of what is currently happening (nothing).

in our case the tag is light green for past 2 years marked as live as that really refers to the FTTC rollout. I just think putting another blue or dark green tag for the FTTH beside it would be easier. While work has started in our area, there is no indication of that on the map. The FTTC bubble for us still states an Autumn/Winter 2016 first Live FTTH date.

Eir are making some sort of changes inside the exchanges for rural ftth. https://twitter.com/openeir

Heard from a neighbour that he had his pole straightened (ooh err missus) at some stage over the last couple of weeks and that there was a big crew out working on The Curragh today.

I think they also mentioned the new cabinet that's to go in to the North of The Curragh Camp. Apologies for the lack of detail, getting all this third hand.

Nothing newsworthy there, they'll just be adding 19" racks and PDUs for new OLTs and aggs to go in.

That's a GPON card being installed into what looks like an existing FTTC node. That is handy to already have the chassis installed, saves some time in their rollout.
