Racism is ok if the person is a bad person?
    Moronic opinion.

Someone who was not a racist to start off with, would not use racist language against a saint or a sinner.

It's unreasonable to expect him to condemn every atrocity. More than 50 kurdish supporters were killed in Qamishli Syria, when ISIS targeted a YPG conscription building. That hardly even got a mention.

However the nice atrocity was terrible

    Agree with you wrt Syria

When you compare the two, Nice and Normandy, Nice was by far more atrocious, in terms of scale and also age range: young and old were killed.
What gripped the French public and the Pope that this was a priest, who in their hearts deserve a special place. Looking from afar, like we are, it does seem to be odd, that the murder of one gets papal attention whereas the murder of scores of people gets none.

Utterly barbaric and savage act. I may not have any time for religions but the myrder of a harmless old man going about his priestly duties to those of his faith is utterly unacceptable and inexcusable. Those young men belong to a despicable sect; the condemnation I saw from an Islamic religious leader at the Elysee could not have been clearer or stronger. That message needs to be broadcast repeatedly throughout social media and older media repeatedly to every Muslim community in Europe.

The Pope has condemned ISIS many times in the last couple of years. I'm not sure where this idea has come from that he has remained silent about their terror attacks : he has often condemned their actions in Iraq and Syria too.

I think there are many symbolic reasons for the emotional reaction.

    1) A church is traditionally seen as a safe heaven. This shows there is nowhere to hide.
    2) The old age of the victim and the ceremonial way in which he was executed are bringing the impression that evil and barbaric people are tagetting Europe to a whole new level.
    3) Even though many Europeans don't believe in Christianity anymore, the religion is at the core of European history of culture - and attacking it is attacking European civilisation.
    4) It also bring back the ghosts of religious wars which most Europeans though were gone forever. The previous time a priest was assassinated during a service in France was in 1793.

I was thinking, is there a way to desecrate Muslim corpses so they won't get into heaven? Maybe pour pigs blood over them?

There might be a lot less attacks if Jihadists knew this was going to happen.

It's a hard idea to stomach and I expect you will be pilloried for suggesting desecration of dead bodies but I am starting to wonder if it's on the right track . It at least addresses part of the mentality of martyrdom and sort of speaks their language . I can't believe some of the things I end up talking about online .

    Not the best idea really.

I think it could work. These attacks are carried out by religious maniacs. You might think twice if you knew you weren't going to go heaven.

    It's completely insane!!

Would we film these desecrations too?

Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up!

You're thinking outside the box. Is there a way to prevent suicide bombers and other jihadist martyrs from getting to heaven ?

    what better deterrent ?

What "heaven" are you on about?

Sounds like something religious extremists would do.
We don't drop our morality because they do.

Yes well sometimes you have to explore new avenues when faced with a difficult problem

    Don't start , paradise , afterlife with virgins , alright ?

Yeah but I would like to change the martyrdom mindset pre-mortem.

Desecrating bodies as a solution...I know we're brainstorming but wow.

Whatever heaven that these crazy scumbags believe in.

So you don't believe in their heaven but you want to convince the "scumbags" that they will never get to their heaven if they martyr themselves because people are going to prevent it somehow by desecrating their bodies in a certain fashion.

    Have I got it?

Of course ! HE/SHE asked a good question though . Is there A PROCESS that prevents eternal reward. The knowledge that that would be used would be a deterrent in the first place . Alas I think jihadist believe that they immediately go to their reward .

No, I have no religions beliefs , why?

I already mentioned in this thread that the americans allegedly did this at the turn of the century in the Philippines

To what effect is not recorded

I think the whole thing is a nonsense, the heaven, the virgins etc

But I am not going to somehow validate their belief by looking for some process or override switch to prevent it. That's nuts.

    Yes, you've got it.

Do you believe your heaven exists but theirs doesn't?

It's make no difference what you or I believe in. The scum we're dealing with obviously take their religion seriously so if you can instill the fear in them that they won't go to heaven, then why not?

I believe in some kind of afterlife but what does my belief have to do with it?
