Well, they have to now don't they if it's big business. The guy Lesnar beat has had 3opponents fail tests , that's absolutely shocking and wouldn't be tolerated in any other combatitive sport.

They don't have to have a stringent testing policy because of the money. We see that from rugby or American sports like their football or baseball all of which have far far less stringent testing practices. It's not the size of the sport that is the reason they have to have a very serious approach to drugs tests, it's the nature of the sport I'd say.

WADA have their fingers in a lot of pies these days, and should be given a lot more scope, the only sport I can think of that's as dirty drug wise is American football
Time to clean them all up and start with the recommended 2 year bans, anything less is just a mockery

I agree but as we've seen with the college rape/sex assault stuff they're not too keen on changing or challenging the status quo when it comes to NFL anyway.

American football is a completely different story. Rugby has the same problem. You should not be involved in the testing if you stand to gain financially from negative results. That's why we see that the IRFU only conducted 28 tests for internationals in 2014/2015, I don't think that's even one test per player! I think Lesnar was tested 8 times before that fight and passed 7 of them!

Although I definitely think that doping in the UFC and boxing and other combat sports is far more serious than it would be in a field sport. Luckily it's not actually that bad across the whole UFC.

I'm annoyed at how the Nice tragedy has been referred to as an act of ISIS terrorism from the moment it happened.
Sure ISIS have come out and condoned the act but look:

The Islamic State group on Saturday claimed the attack was carried out by one of its “soldiers” inspired by its calls for civilians to be targeted, though it didn’t name Bouhlel in its statement.
Plus when ISIS have carried out any violent act they have been very quick to claim it. They were slow off the mark with this one.
Similar thing happened with the Miami shootings.

This guy in Nice was a nut job. Plain and simple. It's mere coincidence that he was muslim.
Clear case of suicide by cop.

I feel it plays right into the hands of ISIS' cause by the media (and even politicians) instantly assuming that a tragedy like this has its origins in terrorism.

It's still very unclear. Five others are being held at the moment with links to the events. It was definitely pre-meditated and was being planned for some time, it's very possible he had become radicalised and was assisted by some external group. I'd wait until we have all the information before jumping to any conclusions.

There are loads of crazy people out there who may subscribe to Isis beliefs but are not actually connected directly to them. I was reading a thing the other night that said ISIS have a habit of claiming things they didn't actually organise but it's always fairly obvious from the language they use whether it's actually their doing or just some but job acting alone. As pointed out above the Miami shooter was the same. When he was profiled it came out that he has sworn allegiance to ISIS and about 4 other groups, some of which are in direct conflict with ISIS beliefs.

This is the worrying thing though. There is more chance of detecting and stopping something that is actually being discussed and organised by an actual group than there is of stopping these lone wolf type attacks. I could go out now and drive my car down Grafton Street and who would stop me?

Kind of weird, none of this stuff seems really close, although it is kind of, geographically. The idea of never going to work again because terrorism is just plain daft so people cancelling holidays to France seems really absurd although I kind of understand it on some vague level. In principle, giving in to terrorism is something I could never do. Same with going to Disneyland as it happens.

Yeah, but I've been involved in 2 terrorist attacks in my life...I'm pushing my luck as it is

Look at it this way. You'd have to be seriously unlucky to be involved in three.

    Well done Stenson. Well deserved.
Supposed to be a very likeable chap...the practical joker on tour apparently!

    Happy for him!

Any one watching Stranger Things on Netflix?

Easily the best original series they've done and probably better than anything regular TV has done for a while.

+1. Wanted Stenson to win and Mickleson to lose so I'm happy with that result.

Sensational golf and final round. Hard pushed to remember as good a final round as that in a major.

The most impressive thing was that, as the round wore on the pressure mounted, he kept getting better. 4 birdies in the last 5 holes and it should have been 5/5 which would have given him the outright course record.

    Lol...poor pillup.

  • Thought Mickleson carried himself very well during the week, what's up with the dislike? Well done to Stenson anyway, just unbelievable golf. That must be one of the finest Sunday performances in major history.

It's seriously brilliant. If you watched ET, The Goonies, Flight of the Navigator, Stand by Me etc etc. as a kid it's like a mash up of all the best parts of them.

There's only 8 episodes so if you're a binge watcher you could probably do it all in a day. I'm planning on watching the last 2 eps tonight which will be 3 days, for me that's a record.

He's not the worst but grates on a lot of people.

He has always come across as very contrived. His nice guy persona is as manicured as it comes. He is a smart cookie and knows that his value increases with how marketable he is.

This plus throwing Watson under the bus after the last Ryder Cup showed his true character I think. I've thoroughly disliked him after that.

I don't know if I'd love or hate Stranger Things. What age is it suitable for?
