Its become a real art form nowadays to try and make silage without rain.

I was full sure we'd get a roaster of a summer going by all rhe rain that fell kast winter but it hasn't turned out that way.

The past few summers its a fune week or two end of May/start of June. Everyone can't make sulage at this time and it doesn't alway suit anyways.

Weatherwise, September could be as good a time as any to make silage.

I baled ground on 14th May - without rain, and the same ground again on 2nd July after 24 hours down & twice tedded. By the skin of my teeth we avoided rain on that cut as well, although the crop came in bigger than the earlier one (9 bales / acre). Still crossing my fingers that the extra bales are idiots luck and not just water - time will tell.

Can't express the evil satisfaction being the one with grass baled and safe when usually I'm only getting around to thinking about silage after everyone else is finished.

    It won't last!

No word yet. All communications cut off. Airports closed. Tanks on streets of Istanbul. Think it's anti president atm but not sure. Could just be a rebel military faction

Looks like anti president. He was getting very dictator like and had big clampdowns going on. Was very ultra Muslim (if there's such a thing).

Now looks like it is successful. Looks like more a nationwide coup rather than a faction. Turkish president currently out of the country.

Yes. Seems the military wants to go more against the Islam swing that the country is heading towards

Ironic, but this Coup seems to be pro-democracy.

Now reports that the presidential guard and police will oppose the military. Could be a civil war by the morning

Hard to see the EU accepting them, when at the same time using Turkey as a paid detention centre for Syrian/economic refugees.

I wonder if the massacre in Nice pushed this forward. There was talks for a while about how far the military would allow Erdogan to push his Islamic agenda before pushing back.

    I don't know about that, orm0nd.

The one thing the powers that be in a country cannot do is let the people go hungry. That's a sure fire recipe for disaster as the people won't support them.

It might even be good for the beef trade as a secure supply of staple foodstuffs would be a high priority.

Some reports that it is only a younger faction of the military as a senior military officer is under arrest so it probably won't last long.

When they say younger faction they mean from col to 1 star general. Can see this lasting as there is a history of military coups in turkey. Gunfire reported now possibly against police forces

    Looks like a failed coup.
Security forces took back control of the state broadcaster and are showing images of the soldiers handing up their weapons.
Now other soldiers are giving up on bospherus bridge.
    Welcome to the information age.

The car is a Ford Prefect, (unless it has a flat head V8, in which case it's a much rarer Pilot)
    The truck I wouldn't have a clue.
