Don't you lose the memory card space?

    Apparently so, yea.

Does anyone know if tdimension are shipping from china/HK or somewhere? Does their stuff normally get stopped?

But it says it utilizes sim slot 2 for micro SD expansion

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,586 ✭✭✭techdiver

You can either use 2 sims or 1 sim and a micro SD card. One of the tray ports is dual use.

In fact I've seen a hack online that allows you to use 2 sim cards and an SD card.

    Hi all,

What's the difference between the dual SIM v single SIM S7 edge? Bar the obvious...

Do you have to have two Sims in? Looking at tdimension website and the dual is cheaper, is there an reason for this? I wouldn't require dual SIM but if there's no difference I'd just buy the cheaper phone.

Also, does anyone have experience dealing with tdimension in terms of returns or warranty? Do they provide a Samsung warranty?

    Thanks

I got the SM-G930FD from t-dimension, and it has the dual sim slot, as the others have posted you can have 2 sim cards in the phone at once or 1 sim and 1 MicroSD card, I've got 1 sim and 1 MicroSD card in mine, and it works a treat.

I haven't been brave enough to try the hack that the others have posted here yet :)

Where do t-dimension ship their goods from and how long did it take to arrive? I'm think of buying the Edge from them.

Mine came from the UK, I ordered it on the 27th of July and it arrived on the 4th of this month.
No duties/customs or anything like that either, pretty decent communication from them too as I emailed a query or two.
Overall I rate T-Dimension pretty well.

    What app was it?

In my case it was Nova Launcher.

But it can be any number of apps. My advice would be to uninstall 2 apps every 2 hours. Before you uninstall each two, check the battery graph in Settings, and especially if bar is appearing beside wakelocks. It's time consuming for a day or two, but at least you have piece of mind for ages afterwards.
I factory reset the phone and deleted all my apps / data. Fully charged yesterday at close of buisness. I put it in the drawer at work and came in this morning to see the battery down to 64%.

I did a software update (after the factroy reset) and it nearly burned the hand off me when it completed. This is after two trips to Fonua (vodafone's repair center) and each time the report saying that there is nothing wrong with the battery.
Thankfully I didn't discard my old phone!!

You might come back and say that you should try X and Y but for a new expensive phone, it simply isn't good enough. Update or no update, the end user should never have to resort to the troubleshooting excersises that i have tried (thanks to the posters here btw) to resolve this issue.
Extremely disapointed and I'm in a big fight with vodafone over this at the moment.
Its dragging on and on and I am like a dog with a bone at this stage.
    I'll keep you updated.

I completely agree. Mine also stalling on the lock screen every so often so I have to do the three button reset (which 99 per cent of smartphone users don't even know exists - given you can't take battery out if you didn't know you'd have to go to shop to get phone working again).

Re your dispute - reality is you're buying an absolute top of the range phone, as a consumer you're therefore entitled to something that functions to that top range. Anything less than that is unacceptable. Its the equivalent of buying a top end merc and it breaking down on way home. In my experience you will get fobbed off until you threaten law or Telecoms regulator.

Disappointed to see emperor's new clothes attitude here - its not good enough in a flagship phone.

Sorry for barging in guys, but which version of the edge is everybody buying off t-dimension? Whats the difference in the cheaper & more expensive version?

I've ended up securing a deal with a guy on adverts (with proof of purchase), to upgrade from my lg g3.
Battery usage is a big thing for me, and I'm often not near a wall socket.

Has anybody here tried out any good extended battery cases? I already know about the official samsung one (which is pretty low capacity), and the zerolemon one, which looks great.

Why not pick up an anker battery?

Powercore 10050, includes quick charge 2.0 on the input and output

Would you know if this supports 4G in Ireland? Im on 3 and am curious if 4G/mobile data connections will work. I am considering getting a G935FD but want to know if mobile data connection will be an issue.:

    https://www.t-dimension.com/uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=s7+edge

You wouldn't have the link handy for the model you purchased?

Would really appreciate the help on the mobile data query. Thanks.

This is the exact phone I got https://www.t-dimension.com/uk/samsung-galaxy-s7-g930fd-dual-4g-lte-32gb-silver-mutli-unlocked-phone.html

I am on Meteor and I can safely say 4G works perfectly fine for me.

Was looking at one of these but Amazon won't ship to Ireland, or Parcel Motel. Would AddressPal need to be used?

For those who ordered from t-dimension and are in Ireland, how long did it take for the phone to arrive from the time you ordered? Ordered the Edge on Friday and just wondering when to roughly expect it!

    OK - update:
After a battle with Vodafone to back out of the contract and also subtract the value of the phone from my bill - they have agreed and followed through.
I was on a "Friends and Family" package for 30 pm. Data add on brought my bill to ~ 35 pm.
I refused to (pay up front) a few hundred for a new phone so I decided that I would up the package to 60 pm and pay for the phone over the life cycle of the contract.
When I got the phone - I wasn't happy with it and to be perfectly honest I wasn't convinced on the jump to 60 per month either.
I decided to use the 14 day cooling off period and called Vodafone to do just that. (back out of the contract). Ironically I would have stayed with the contract and phone if I was happy with it - but alas, the battery did it for me. You could also fry an egg on the back of it during the fast charge.
To be honest, after I got the phone back from the first repair (re battery life) I would have kept it but the report said that there was nothing wrong with the battery. "Battery tested OK". It wasn't, it still died within 24 hours without any use!!
Anyway, I am on a 30 day contract-less (Sim only) agreement for 30 pm. Unlimited calls, texts and 3 GB afaik.
This fiasco started on the 1st of June (I agreed to contract over the phone on that date).
Yesterday I checked my online bill and it was finally discounted - backed out of the contract on the 10th June.

It took roughly a week for me. I ordered on a Thursday and it arrived the following Thursday my DPD.

I had to email them for a tracking number though.

I can completely understand why Vodafone would fight it, however. It's pretty clear your issue was software related, and nothing to do with the hardware in the phone.

It's a shame you didn't know someone who is a bit tech-savvy to figure out the issue, because there are multiple reasons why your battery could have been draining. I can understand why it would be frustrating with a device that cost that much.

Am I right that our (European that is) versions of the S7 can be rooted? Therefore could I remove all the Three crap like the logo that appears during boot? I realise it would still be networked locked.

Yes, but to take another angle...

If you put a dodgy app on it that killed the battery or wiped the device (or something else), should/would you return it for a refund?

Yep I think all versions can be rooted now, the Exynos was first. Bear in mind that you won't have Samsung Pay if it's rooted (if we ever see it in this technological third world).

Devs have Android pay working fine on the HTC 10 with rooted devices. Hopefully the same will be figured for Sammy eventually.
