When's it announced ? He was rubbish tonight.

True but someone else would have had to really 'seize the day' tonight to usurp him and I don't think anyone did, best players on both sides wrre defensive but they're not gonna give it to Matuidi are they?

    1st: Dimitri Payet. France
Payet went top after his performance in the opening game against Romania and although the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann had spells at the summit, the France playmaker ended the final in pole position despite the hosts' defeat by Portugal.
    Also in the top five.

Was he 8/1 to win it today?

I like the sound of that. Where is the 26/1 market at?

It was under player specials on 888sport. Shame neither bet came in. Sorry if anyone followed.

How Greiz didn't win that is beyond me? It's like the Eurovision voting!!

    Is this official?

It's been a profitable tournament for me, mainly due to draws, so going in again on the draw tonight after 90 mins. 21/10 Paddy.

Memorable stuff. For many, Portugal have been a pain in the ass. For me, they've been my very own ATM machine ;)

    All the best!

Took payet POTT with PP @8s. Hoping he can bag 1 tonight to enhance his chances.

Sweet. Didn't think he was going to get it after his performance last night.

I'm not convinced that's the official pott, its just their 'player barometer' nonsense.

Is that not how it is decided? My 4, count them (de Bruyne what was I thinking:rolleyes:), POTT bets are still outstanding with Bet365 so maybe there's hope yet..

I'm pretty sure it isn't official. Haven't been paid out on it yet anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 889 ✭✭✭JonnyM

I haven't been paid out yet either. I was just going by newspaper article link above.

On the UEFA site there is nothing about POTT.
    Young player > Renato Sanches
    Golden Boot > Griezmann
And that is on the maffia's website

To be fair, no one should be named as POTT. Not 1 player who was consistently good the entire tournament.
It was rubbish from beginning till the end.

Yeah 'West Ham star Dimitri Payet named Euro 2016 player of the tournament' sounds pretty definitive. Shoddy of the Standard if he isn't actually POTT

I would have been confident Greiz getting it after Payet doing sweet FA in the final, and later subbed off. He was 1/3 post match:(

I can hear the thread death knell sounding...

Mitch Hedberg: "Rice is great if you're really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something."

Will wait for the official pott and then the torches will be out.
And the guillotine. It is France after all.

Shame, we'd built up a nice esprit de corps serving in the gammbling trenches over the last few weeks. Guess we can reunite for Russia 2018 (if it happens)

Well, in a few weeks the leagues in Europe start again so we just pick up our chairs from here and move them back to the daily bets thread again.

Yeah I guess, doesn't have the same sense of common purpose though.

I wonder were UEFA intending to award POTT on the basis of that barometer thing but are now figure they can't give it to a guy who hasn't had a really good game since the group stages.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,860 ✭✭✭✭inforfun

    True enough.
Tournaments also bring the occasional punter in which is nice as it comes to different views and ideas.

So... thank you occasional punter. See you in 2 years?

No, its always been a committee decision where they deliberate over a few nice bottles of wine and then announce the result. The barometer thing was never meant for anything more than social media fodder.

Why couldnt they announce it at the trophy presentation like in the World Cup?
