    yep

As S-Offed now. CID changed to SuperCID. Got latest Viper downloaded.

Out of curiosity Team Venom say to match your firmware to rom. My firmware is the one 3 pushed out the other day 1.80.XX. I assume I am good to go ?

Also if I decided at this late stage not to flash the rom just yet, I assume I would have to go back to 3's CID ?

Viper 2.2.0 all installed and working thanks to Basil3's help :)

My friend doesn't want to go to Viper but now that his Three HTC 10 is unlocked he would like to change his firmware from Three's to an International one so he can get updates from HTC directly. So I just want to confirm something - after I unlock the boot loader, install twrp, make the backups, root the phone, install s-off, do I just rename WWE RUU firmware linked to below to 2PS6IMG.zip, copy to root of SD card, and reboot phone to download mode so the RUU is picked up automatically ?

Also I am thinking before I try to install the RUU, I should change the CID to HTC__001 and the MID to 2PS620000. My understanding is that once S-offed you can flash anything but the WWE RUU requires you to match the HTC__001 CID and 2PS620000 MID on the phone in order to get OTA's from HTC which is what my friend wants.

This is the most recent RUU I could find :
    RUU Zip (Stock Signed)
    CID: HTC__001/HTC__034/HTC__A07/HTC__J15/HTC__M27/HTC__016/HTC__002 | MID: 2PS620000
    1.80.401.1 (

Looking to get that latest update from Three coz I'm hoping it fixes my NFC issues.
Does anyone know where I can get the stock flashable ZIP or RUU from Three?
    The CID is H3G__003.

Otherwise I'll have to just spend the $25 on Sunshine!! :p

    Cheers.

When I installed Twrp yesterday, I made a backup of system, system image, cache, recovery and android secure onto my SD card. I can share that zip file on google drive tomorrow for ya. It's the same CID as yours, and firmware I had installed was the one Three pushed out this week (1.80).

    And how is your NFC?
The whole thing I was doing was trying to update to the latest firmware to see if the NFC was usable. And if it's still ****e, then I wanted to establish if it was a fault, or just the way it is. Obviously, if its a fault, then I'd seek a replacement.

So far I've tried installing an older version that I had backed up with TWRP, and no luck.
I also Installed ViperROM, which is meant to have the latest OTA "stuff", and no luck.

Now I've just S-OFF'd and changed CID to HTC__001 in the hope that I can find a global RUU exe that will revert to complete stock (ROM and recovery) and then try that. I've only found ZIPs and the instructions aren't clear enough for my skill level!! :o:o :P

The latest firmware is meant to have NFC improvements, but I found it to be even worse. Even harder for me to get the Leap Card app to work now. Haven't tested on anything else.

I don't use NFC but this is the most recent RUU I can find which I believe is the most recent firmware on the International variant.

Just rename the zip to 2PS6IMG.zip, stick it on the SDCard and boot into download mode and it installs automatically. Did it for friends HTC 10 today with no issue. I made sure to change the CID first to HTC__001 so he will get updates from HTC. No need to change the MID as it was the same. Phone also has boot loader unlocked and is S-offed. Here is a YouTube video showing the same : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ACU3RGm9YI

By the way what's the difference between 1.80.771.1(which is what 3 is) and 1.80.401.1 (International)
Specifically the 771 v the 401. I assume it's got something to do with carrier codes ?

Yup. 401 is always WWE International.

    Great stuff.

Can you side load Viper btw using twrp or does it have to be from sdcard ?

Quick one on Viper 10.2.2.0. When I go into settings, personalise, the change theme stuff doesn't work. I am thinking this is because I elected to go with the default of Complete removal of HTC Sense ?

See 10.22. Yer man had the same thing happen.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZtvdA0wRW0

Also, was I correct to flash from the Three (1.80.771.1) to the WWE International RUU (1.80.401.1) before installing the Viper rom or does it not matter (I'm Soffed and I changed CID to HTC__001)

Any good Viper customisation guides out there btw ?

    Thanks

Complete removal of sense isn't a default option. But yeah, removing sense is gonna remove a lot of features. Don't see the point unless you want to try to make your device like a nexus.

    Tell me about it!
I've a leap card and 2 bank cards. The 2nd bank card is expired so I have it bent length ways. If I put the top of the phone in the crease of the card, then it picks it up on one of the NFC reader apps.
The Leap card and the new bank card aren't getting detected at all.
Of course, all 3 work perfect on me Nexus 9.

TBh, I don't use NFC, but the price I paid for the phone, I want everything to be working perfect.

Well, this is the update that Vodafone seemingly want to push out OTA to my unlocked, bought-from-HTC 10. Puzzling!

Hah...I got this too. Took a friends Three HTC 10, unlocked it, converted CID to HTC__001 and flashed the International RUU. He is with VF same as me. And this update from Vodafone pops up. Anyway, turns out it's a single vodafone app which installs and reboots your phone. Likely the vodafone hub that installs their security garbage (vodafone protect) and their own messaging apps. He didn't open it. Just deleted it. So VF are spamming people with VF and International variant phones.

NFC for the leap card wasn't working for me before the update.
    Still the same.

Also getting pushed crap from Vodafone. Got it a few times now, but keep saying NO!!

If you say 'Yes', it just installs this My VF Apps program which you can remove and it never comes back

It's definitely not a default option. You have to choose it. It was only pre-selected in the video because he had been through aroma before and it remembers previous choices.

    Ah...I stand corrected.

Anyway, very happy with the venom rom but now I'd like a black/red sort of theme.
    Just found this link :)
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/themes/theme-official-viper10-theme-thread-t3391212

Any tips for noobs ? Is it enough to follow the guide you can download and take it from there. I assume I sign up for the hub too. Only skimmed over it so just looking for some quick tips. Thanks.

And I have to ask, what is a dirty Rom install they talk about. Where I stand now is I have done unlock boot loader, twrp recovery, backup image, root, s-off which caused me to loose root, rooted again, changed cid to htc__001, flashed WWE RUU, rooted again (still have s-off), flashed viper. I know I probably did more than I needed but it was a learning experience :)

Dirty ROM flash just means to flash the ROM without wiping. This might be needed if you've flashed some mods and want to remove them.

Regarding the theme, you've got a couple of options really. There are HTC themes that you can get with the themes app, but if you want more of your phone to be dark then you would need to flash a full theme. I have a theme called ViperDark on the hub, which you can make black and red (or any colour you want). If you don't like it, then the easiest way to remove it is to dirty flash the ROM again.

Yes, you should sign up for the hub. It has stuff like full themes, icon packs, status bar themes, boot animations and various other mods which allow you to customize your device.

I can imagine if you haven't used Viper before, it's a bit daunting with all the different options. I have no idea how many tweaks there are, but it's definitely in the hundreds. I only use a few myself, but I'm so used to having them that I couldn't live without them.

Anyway, most of this conversation should really be on XDA.....I'm sure it's very boring for someone who just wants general info about the 10 :D

    Something strange this morning happened.

    1. Turned off phone at 20% battery last night and charged it with htc charger till green light came on but this morning battery was at 73%

    2. When i turned on phone had a fairy faint htc logo during boot. Thought it was image retention was so faint. Everything stayed black and suddenly lock screen pops up.

Edit. Looking at battery history it didnt reach 100%. It started charging at 4am at 73% ish so stopped at that point. Tried again today and it went to 100% no problem. Very strange.

Regarding Viper, I didn't check the 'Systemless Compatible Mode', when setting it up. Any disadvantages to this. I am rooted and s-off.

Also, what's the safest app for removing system apps. When I installed viper I left touchpal keyboard as I thought I would be without a keyboard. I normally use the google one. Thinking of giving this a try. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp&hl=en_GB

Finally, can someone tell me if Greenify is still worth installing ? Used it before when I wasn't rooted on another phone but I understand it only comes into it's own when you have a rooted device. I have found the biggest battery drainers are the google app, now, and having location services on. Got rid of these and even google search. Probably a bit extreme.

Main reason for systemless root is to not break Android Pay, afaik. I think it can help with not breaking certain banking apps, although I've never had any trouble with a rooted device using the AIB app.

If you removed the only keyboard while installing Viper for the first time, you could be stuck without any way of setting the device up.

Can't comment on Greenify. Currently using it, but can't really see if it makes a difference. I'm plugged into laptop all day at work then I'm fine with battery until the next day at work. I think I'm going to remove it....I know people that get awesome battery life without using any apps like that.

Actually I wasn't rooted before and didn't see Greenify making a big difference now that I think of it.

I really hate touchpal so hopefully I can uninstall it using a root app from the play store.

One thing, I was wondering about, I have the Viper rom on my sdcard so can always reflash it clean or dirty from TWRP. I also have 2PS6IMG WWE RUU on my sdcard, and everytime I boot to download mode it asks me if I want to flash it, which is great as it's an instant recovery for me to stock if I need it. My question is would flashing RUU still work now that I have Viper installed. Ta.

    Yes, but

    a) you should hardly need to flash an RUU, and
    b) you should hardly ever need to boot into download mode
