Always be a "girly girl" to me. Even with Mrs. Merton. I loved her voice.

Genius writing. It never fails to make me laugh.

Barbara - What have you had for your tea Denise?
    Denise - Spaghetti
    Barbara - Ooo Bolognese?
    Denise - Hoops
And that scene where Jim is bemoaning the lack of anything decent on the telly that night.
Barbara: "Do you, er, fancy an early night Jim?"
Jim (frantically scouring the telly listings in the paper): "Christ, there must be something on".

    Utterly brilliant.

I loved her on the Fast Show.

I'm really very sad about her passing. My whole family adored her work. She was gifted but humble. Many of the standout scenes have already been mentioned, but I loved the drunken row herself and Dave have about that 'slut' Beverly Macca. So realistic.

I also love herself and Dave singing Radiohead's No Surprises to their baby as a lullaby. Tearing up thinking about it.

Thanks for all the great TV moments Caroline. :(

A beautiful woman whose amazing writing and acting skills made you laugh your a$$ off one minute and broke your heart the next. She had gorgeous, unforgettable scenes with Ricky Tomlinson - before Denise's wedding and when Denise was in labour. She and Craig Cash made their characters feel so real - I actually grieved when Nanna died. Another phenomenal talent stolen by that utter c*nt of a disease. R.I.P.

The Nana Royle episode is one of the best bits of tv writing ever, and some of the best tv I've ever watched.

She was a unique talent, and seemed to be a lovely person. Far too young to leave. :(

The out-takes from Nana's final episode are great.

Such a lovely show. The cast all seemed to get along so well together.

    Lovely. :)

I'm welling up reading about how she had so much tragedy in her life, poor woman had it tough. Makes the laughs all the more poignant.

Very very sad. What a wonderfully gifted writer and actor, one of best of her generation. I'm sure she had lots more to give. Stupid cancer.

Shocking news when i read about it a few minutes ago, I loved all her tv shows and had a bit of a crush on her when i was younger.

RIP Caroline, may there is unlimited wafer thin ham wherever you are.

She actually co-wrote the Royale Family with Craig Cash (Dave).

    Loved her as Denise.

    Gets up to make tea.

Jim says "grab my fags while you're in there, love".

Denise replies "shove a brush up my arse and I'll sweep the floor".

    RIP.

    Jim didnt smoke!

The Royle Family is on Netflix, y'all!

I'm going to rewatch it now in honour of Caroline and all the belly laughs she has given me down the years.

    Jim didnt smoke!

They actually mentioned in one early episode about getting fags for him but he didn't smoke on screen and they seemed to drop the idea of him smoking altogether.

The outtakes on YouTube of the Christmas special where they tried to defrost the turkey in the bath are arguably as funny as that episode itself... she was super funny the quality of writing, the humor and the pathos inserted when it mattered in certain episodes was so well done...

    Absolutely gutted.

I knew she had several cancers and cancer battles but hoped she'd pull through again. I did think 2016 would see to that though.

An absolute comic genius, her writing was second to none and I'm including the brilliant Victoria Wood in that.

    Gutted.

    R.I.P. Caroline Aherne

Missed already just because you're gone.

She was truly brilliant and right on the cutting edge for her time. Easily on par with any of the goon show or python in that regard.

2016 can't end soon enough. So many talented innovative people dead, so many braindead right wing politicians unscathed.
Caroline Aherne was fantasticly talented, involved in and directly responsible for some of the best comedy television ever made. A cousin of mine was in school with her and seemingly she was as funny in school as on the telly as you would probably expect her to have been. She achieved so much, so sad to hear she has died so young.
