Hi guys, Just wondering, I did a business administration course then I did a work experience module in a hospital as a clerical officer for three months in a hospital. I would like to know if I should include that and add that under employment history on interview form?

Got my first pay slip. It's official, I'm worse off working than sitting at home doing nothing !
    It's soul destroying!

€429.50 ( before tax ) a week is soul destroying or are you getting hammered with tax?

Yes indeed but it's better than minimum wage and the flexitime is a great perk.

Not all TCO's get flexitime, my sister does not get it in Revenue.

I'm 30€ worse off working. Flexitime doesn't pay the bills.
Only I can walk to work, I'd be screwed.

Oh Im sorry I never realised that. It's the main reason I took up this role. I'd better not assume for any future tco roles.

Would that be your pension? My pension deduction is around that figure every week.

If you are a single parent, you could always apply for FIS and always make sure you have the correct tax credits too!

Your USC looks very high. That can't be right can it?

I need to check out the USC. I should be on the reduced rate.
It's a shocking indictment on successive governments and the union's that I could be worse off working and relying on fis.

I think it will be a case of going back to the private sector.

I got called for interview in Waterford next Tuesday. I'm late seventies

  • Registered Users Posts: 185 ✭✭wexford awake

just wondering how likely are you to get a placement if you go to the interview. most people on here seem to be successful. got an interview in Dublin for saturday july 2nd, but id have to take a day off and travel up to dublin, and maybe be a total waste of time. im now residing in a county alot further away from Dublin than wexford. id love the experience but cant afford the cost of travelling minus a days pay.

Still more than a person earns on the minimum wage.

What are the interviews like in general? Ive heard pretty much everyone is sucessful ?

I have been called for interview on July 2nd. I was 120 in Meath. The interview form that I have to complete is very basic, it doesn't even ask for career history. Is that right??

You really need to get your facts right on USC.

Its an indictment on this country that a government wage should be so low that it requires social welfare top ups.

I work that out to be €356.89? The 12.60 is a pension contribution which you should be able to claim back at the end of your contract.

So TCOs actually have higher take home pay than permanent staff.

I'd rather not be paying it in the first place:(

    2 short questions.
1)What do you/males wear to an interview? Suit or formal or what?
2)How do you get paid if you get the job?
    Cheers

Smart casual. Into the bank fortnightly. Depends on where in the pay cycle you start.
