Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly does this job entail?
    And is it countrywide?

If you click link above and information booklet it tells you all you need to know.

Looking at that list of locations ... do ye reckon you'd have more chance of getting Dublin or elsewhere in the country?

I'm really not too bothered. I have some reasons for staying in Dublin, but I also like the idea of picking some random part of the country I don't know at all! So I'd be happy to apply wherever there's more likelihood of a position.

Only problem is, if you applied down the country, would you have to do the assessments etc down there ... :/ I'm in Dublin now, so it would be a pain in the ass.

Thanks for the heads up, I would probably have missed the deadline otherwise.

Hopefully there'll be a couple of positions available in my area.

And a lot of the contracts are only for 10 weeks, some are longer but it's worth bearing that in mind.

Not always. They also do regional interviews and some in the specific area where you will be working.

I just applied too, does the application just involve providing info on Name/location etc., or did I miss something. Is there no CV or narrative re reason for applying needed? Thanks

From what I can remember you give your employment details further on in the competition..

The full time positions are still being allocated from the last full time competition. These are normally just to fill in for people on term time or maternity leave etc.

I'd say very very low, however I'm thinking if you did very well in a temp role, it would greatly increase your chances if you were to apply for a full-time role in the future.

None. Unless you've done the permanent CO competition. The last one of those was about 2 years ago.

I don't know what's going on I just submitted my application and viewed it after been submitted there's 2 questions that have not been selected I then updated it and it's the same thing

And it's 2 mandatory fields as well, I'm after updating now about 4 times..., and still it won't save what I've clicked... The questions are left as please select when I have selected....

Once it went through the first time it should be fine. When I was doing mine, I forgot to fill in the supplementary question (the one about the language), and it wouldn't let me submit.

Same happened with my application and I answered both questions as well so I wouldn't stress too much about it. Looked back on last year's application and the same two questions appear to be not answered and I was lucky enough to get a contract so fingers crossed.

    Best of Luck to all

As far as I can remember there were no aptitude tests for the Temp CO competition, just an online assessment questionnaire that took approx. 45 minutes to complete, it was divided into two parts the first part broken down into three sections A B and C, and the second part was a series of scenarios of which you were given options as to how you might deal with a situation. Simple enough really!!

Aptitude tests were for the permanent CO competition which is still running since 2014, third part was error checking if I remember correct.

no I think your right, I've just done so many aptitude test's for job applications, Im getting them mixed up, cant really remember last year's application. All I remember is I picked Limerick last year but I'm going to pick Cork this year. Good luck with the permanent CO Panel I didn't get passed the online one's.

I don't think I would have passed either only I had a second pair of eyes helping me along so the supervised one's should be interesting. Really need to start back practising them and try get quicker at doing them. I'm not used of doing them online either which doesn't help!!! Would have thought Limerick to be the better option with Revenue opposed to Cork?? I'm in the Midlands so have a few options.

No I actually think If I picked Cork last year I would have got called because I got 494 in Limerick and i know that they called people in the 500s in Cork. I picked the cork the two years previous to that and got a contract in 2014 but I was a bit apprehensive if I got picked to in this years competition if I was in Cork to go back into the same department so that's why I choose Limerick but I forgot about that the CSO Office in cork would have been hiring for the census so Im just going with Cork now again. My brother got called twice for cork but couldn't take it either times. Actually I practice them a good bit, I try anyway and my brother who doesn't practice at all always get higher marks in them than me. Some people just have the ability as well.

    Virtually zero, in my experience.

Correct. We tried in 2014. No chance.

Does anyone know if you take, for example, one day self certified sick leave are you paid for that day?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 631 ✭✭✭RoadhouseBlues

When I did mine a couple of years ago, I had a hospital appointment and I brought in the letter to the manager to show him. He told me I prob wouldn't get paid for the day, but I did. I think he just put me down for the day. Fair play to him.

Depending on the length of your contract you get X-amount of annual leave/holiday pay and if your lucky enough to get into a department that has flexi-time even better again you can work around hospital appointments etc., hope this is of some help to you!!.

As far as I am aware when you get the link to the online questionnaire there is a section where you can provide details about education work courses skills etc.,

I found the interview for the census tough enough compared to the interview for tco, still waiting to hear if I was successful or not (no news is good news)

Yeah the CE competition closed in less than 4 hours IIRC due to the volume of applicants. Couldn't find any fault with the interview myself, walked out chuffed so was amazed (and galled I'll admit) yesterday when I saw the rejection email, because the salary and experience would have gone a long way for me.

Ya it's crap when u really want something and get rejected, I was in a fierce bad mood for a few days after when I didn't get my application in.... But u just have to move on to the next thing:)I would have just loved to have got the experience cause I think it would help with my confidence ah well just have to wait till the next one.

How long does it take to get sent the link for the questionnaire? I sent in my submission on Wednesday but yet to receive the link to the questionnaire, unless i'm looking in the wrong place.
