No. Just Islam - it's clearly incompatible with civilisation.
If you ban Islam it will become even more radicalised.Look at historical examples, Ireland during the penal times, people began to become more devout, or look at the early Christians in rome.

The more the Romans persecuted them, the more vociferous they became in the profession of their faith. They were willing to be martyred for their religion. That's exactly what will happen if you ban Islam.

Keep it - I like talking to the sky

As opposed to fundamentalist christians and jews. And whilst we're at it, buddhists, hindus, and everything else. Every fundamentalist religion thinks they're onto a truth that no-one else has access too.

So should EVERY organisation who runs on agendas ,then

Good luck buying the land needed for hospitals and schools.

I know religion is a comfort for some people but it's seems bizarre that we allow it to be still significantly involved in modern society.

What is bizarre is that you can 'study' it in our universities. I though it was our smart people that went to them.

Do you think it's good for the mental health country that we have thousands of people attending religious ceremonies every week, talking to someone that doesn't exist and basing their morals on ancient scripture written centuries before them?

It isnt. But banning it isnt the way to go about it.

Education, and public information, enabling people to avoid being sucked into old superstitions would be a social good worth working towards.

Many if these self same schools and hospitals wouldn't be in existence today only for the religious orders who set them up.
If anyone is wanting an example...our leading cardiac hospital was initially set up by nuns.
We had hundreds if schools set up by Ignatius Rice..and an equal number of girls schools set up by nuns.
All this long before the state thought to provide them.

Impossible to ban something that people choose to believe in but it should be strictly extra curricular ie. FAR away from all forms of formal education and no children should be allowed be indoctrinated into it. If once they are 18 they make the choice to believe in and join a religion then go for it, but baptising a child and forcing them into relgiious education is indoctrination plain and simple and not much different to brainwashing.

You are essentially advocating that parents of children should be dictated to by the State in how to raise and educate their children. The tone of your language is also insulting and discriminstory towards those who have religious beliefs

You have a notion that life of learning etc begins at 18. Parents shall and are entitled to raise their children as they see fit. Most children do not turn into extremists or intolerant towards others

If the topic was about eg gay people and you used that tone , it is highly likely that you would, rightly be banned or your statement deleted

Yer pal Katherine Zappone is one of the US/Ireland's most imminent Theolgists . They study more than bible reading there in those universities

Just because you study religion doesn't make you religious!

Thats like being an eminent tarot card reader. In an otherwise respectable and serious university. Makes both look bad.

It would be impossible to ban it. But they should be taxed at 55%+ and kept out of schools and hospitals.

Try that and the orders could tell the government to get off their properties, sell up to some property speculator who would rather build shoe box apartments or hotels if he could. Let us see how the government will find new land to build their new schools and hospitals . King Kenry VIII did it, with some success

wording on those poll options is a bit biased isn't it? what is it with people on boards mad to ban things they dont personally like

Her theology training assisted her in her core areas as a social worker. Big leap from tarrot card readers

Knowing full well that you are laughably ignorant as to what is studied in theology, let us give you a chance to tell us what subjects and schools of thought are encapulated in the discipline of theology

    Good luck with that !

As much as I'd like to see it banned, I don't think that's possible.

People don't like being told that they can't do something; use drugs as an example. So by banning it, you just push it underground.

Eh, it's like attempting to carry lemon jelly on a tennis racquet on the hottest day of the year. Pointless, doomed, and just try to explain to bystanders what the heck it is you're doing and why.

In the west it's on it's way out anyway. Banning it would just cause resistance. Ignore it and it will go away itself.

People actually want to remove religion from healthcare now....do they realise who ran most of the major hospitals in the country in the first place
But what relevance do religious orders have to state hospitals? I mean, if someone would like a priest to visit them when they are on their deathbed, fair enough. Or if a hospital has a chapel/chaplain - this would be important to religious people who are ill. But I don't see why there is a need for religious orders to be involved in the actual running of a hospital?

in many cases where religious orders are involved in the running of hospitals or schools, they provide funding to the hospital/school, natural enough that someone funding something would have a say in how its ran

It would not be possible to ban religion it would only go to the side streets and back alley's be hidden from view so you would still have lots of religious people only they would not be visible.
