Doubt it. Doubt that the police even know for sure what happened yet

Has the guy they arrested even been charged yet?

    Its very early doors indeed.

Never heard of this politician but this has really saddened me. :(

The goading and general pitch forking on sites like liberal.ie is shocking
And there seems to be housebound people on the site all day (or they seem to me to be housebound) just waiting to be outraged again and again about what the gubbermint are doing to them
It's surprising no one has tried to stab a TD here, in particular J Burton or A Kelly

The Daily Mail's only reason for existence is to skew public opinion. The only reason they shut down comments is when the skewing won't suit their editorial agenda.

Just like the Guardian. And every other periodical.

    Very dignified

Can't even begin to fathom what that man is going through, the thoughts of what his wife went through in her final moments must be unbearable.

As for Jo herself, I can't claim to have been aware of who she was. But from just reading about her you can see the genuine pride she had at being elected and that she was driven by her work. Seemingly one of the better ones. RIP

Not really though. The Guardian is a left wing publication but they will at least give the pretense of balance or a counter opinion.

Very very early. He's in custody at least. Don't be surprised if he's taken to hospital to get psychiatric treatment at some stage in the next 24 hours
Sadly this is most often the outcome in these tragic cases
RIP this lovely clever woman and condolence to her young small family wider friends relations and constituents

Going by the type of comments in threads here I'd be less surprised if it was someone from the far left. They seem to get the most bile on this site.

It really amazes me that people are surprised by this. Of course no business wants to be associated with the kind of bile that spews forth on those comments sections.
Those that cry foul and demand "free speech" are only furthering the cause of those who wish to restrict it.

She isn't even buried and we know so little about why she died, yet it's clear there's a desire to make political/moral capital out of her death.

So you point to one single opinion piece as proof to a paper not having "a pretense of balance"?

    That's beyond stupid.

I genuinely believe that the Guardian doesn't even try to be balanced. I'm being sincere. And it's probably the paper I read the most.

Yeah I get that. It was clear by you replying to my post several times with the same words.

You're wrong but I get it.

You don't get it, but it's not important. What's important is the death of this woman. We are getting off track i think.

This is definitely going to effect the outcome of the EU referendum. Guaranteed they'll vote to stay.

This will be a big turning point if the nut job that murdered her is a right wing fantasist as seems likely

The global elites that run the world have struck again. What is the best way to stop the British public from leaving the EU. Let's kill a pretty female pro Europe politician, that would do it. Well played now lets spew some more anti Russian propaganda and talk up this debt recovery, the middle class are so stupid

It may not be. Presenting realism and consequences to a decision is painted as 'Project Fear', which reveals and endearing sense of childishness. People may react by to this news by moving more into the Leave camp as a reaction to any perception of the Remain campaign trying to point score from a tragedy even if no one says a word about it. Far better for the Remain camp to say nothing and leave people to reach their own conclusions.

People very much double down on their point of view when under stress - they hate having to change their mind because someone else presents a better argument. It takes an exceptional person not to associate themselves, personally, with a point of view and see any challenge to that view as a personal attack on them.

This fellah seems to have been a lone nutjob. The Leave campaign may not be responsible for who believes in them, but they are responsible for the sort of campaign they run and the ideas they spread with lazy rhetoric. The Leave campaign has been intensely dishonest and vile.

    What :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

    Global conspiracy
    Chem trails
    Media collusion
    Fluoride in the water

    What :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Exactly, about 99% of the population are been played and they don't know it so your not the only one in the dark. Just like the killing of JFK everyone thought it was all down to a mad man. Happy Britain remains in the EU now but I was expecting something like this

BBC News showed a person who was there when it happened and he says the man said "Britain first" twice.

You would wonder how anyone can be so hateful when they go out and do things like this.
