    Heard of him?

One politician does not equal powerful politicians. Are there anymore?

I'm genuinely fascinated by your opinions on this and your apparent ignorance to the other factors involved in this incident Btw so please don't think I am having a go at you.

An Islamic terrorist organisation releases a kill-list of Florida residents via encrypted channels and calls for lone wolves in Florida to act. A Muslim guy who's been on an FBI terrorism watchlist, and who's father is an open supporter of the Taliban, proceeds to kill people in response. He declares that he's committing this act in allegiance with the Islamic terrorist organisation who have been calling for the attacks. He Allahu Ackbars throughout and martyrs himself at the end. The Islamic terrorist organisation commends his martyrdom and reaffirms that the organisation is responsible for the attack.

    But it's Christians to blame.

    k.

Christian sponsored anti- LGBTQI legislation and the likes of Kevin Swanson have nothing to do with a legitimising of homophobia in the US because this is all about Islam.

And the gays just don't get that because this wasn't really about sexuality it's all about Islam.

The gays need to understand that in order to protect them from Islam we need to roll back on certain civil liberties and they can trust right wing Christians yes siree bob.

    Not about Sexuality.
    Not about homophobia.
    Not about religious extremism.
    Only about Islam/

    Got it.

I think that to deny Christian sponsored initiatives such as the Religious Freedom Bill in Florida and the UK issuing a travel warning is to ignore an ingrained homophobia in sections of American society and this is extremely foolish.

I doesn't matter what vehicle homophobia uses - gay people still suffer whether it's a Koran or a Bible so it's same meat different gravy as far as I am concerned - it matters that it is challenged where ever and when ever it raises it's hatefilled head.

If you think current crop of anti LGBTQI legislation are not prompting violence than you are very much mistaken.

You've done this to other people but you wont do it to me, I never denied that Christian homophobia exists, I have not ignored ingrained homophobia in sections of American society. You're argument style has been horrible throughout this thread, I don't put words in your mouth so please dont do it to me.

Current crop of anti lgbtqi legistation is prompting violence I have no doubt. Same as homophobia in general has and is prompting violence. Homophobia is on the decrease in western culture however (which you deny is the case of US astonishingly). Not in small part due to the trend of a decline in religious following. But it is not an integral part of spreading terror through violent means throughout western society, which I and the authorities believe is the wider context of this incident. Gay people suffer from homophobia no matter what its origin, of course. Are you saying that to me as if I don't know that? Really? Do you think I don't know homophobia has to be challenged wherever it raises its head?

Anything there you'd like to twist?

I will say this much. Radical Christians and radical Muslims have an awful lot in common.

Very true however having a lot of similarities doesn't make them the same and just because two things are similar doesn't mean a comparison is always legitimate.
A far right Russian and a Palestinian might both hate Jew's, to say they are coming from the same place isn't helpful to understand the "why" and their motivations though

I know, but I'm just saying it's the standard line for moderate religions. Being gay is a sin and evil but it's wrong to target them. That's what most religious people here believe too. there's nothing unremarkable about it.

Haha the line in the Koran about killing infidels isn't about killing infidels.

I'm not a very religious person at all, but I'm smart enough to appreciate how I can get away with that fact in a Christian country, without punishment :)

Why is he given so much air time? He is never robustly challenged on his views by any presenter.

    Sweetest Divine Punk.

I am the one who has been saying we need to look at the broader picture.
Not just Islamic extremism (notice I do not dismiss it) - but all forms of religious extremism.
    All sponsors of homophobia.
    Anti-LGBTQI legislation and its sources.
Hate speech no matter where it comes from.

    All the factors!

Openly Anti LGBTQI U.S politicians - here ya go http://www.ranker.com/list/the-most-anti-gay-us-politicians/ballerina-tatyana

Now your homework is to identify how many of them were serous presidential/vice presidential hopefuls and if that would justify them being includeded in the general 'influential' category.

Why is he given so much air time? He is never robustly challenged on his views by any presenter.

Listening to this now, Moncrieff is a moron of the highest order.

    The gist of the program

"Muslims are the victims here" - Ali Selim

    Uh-hmm- Moncrieff

"no evidence of radicalised muslims in Ireland"-Moncrieff

"No radical muslims in Ireland"-Ali Selim

"Ireland has something to teach other countries as regards immigration"

LOL, forty Irish fighters in ISIS in Syria atm, second highest in Europe per capita.

    Insane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,782 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

Ireland has such an integrated Muslim community, we have one of the highest % of our Muslim population going to Syria to fight for ISIS.
Ali Selim doing a good job covering up the problem Ireland has.

He's given air time because people listen and there's no-one really like that here. He's our token crazy Muslim.

An Irish Muslim is a happy Muslim and we're not involved in the killing of Muslins so nothing to worry about.
Europe/Russia/America all balls deep in terrorism against Muslim countries and Arms shipments. Is it any wonder there not liked by Muslins.

I didn't hear him saying anything crazy during the interview. He's right too we're not involved in killing daily.

Would you like to rephase that in a less aggressive manner and we can enter into a polite discussion with you or shall we just leave it as I have a vigil to attend and frankly I'm not in the mood to be lectured on homophobia right now.

He should have been asked why did the Irish state block a Muslim hate preacher who calls for the killing of gay people from speaking at the Clonskeagh mosque?
